    The problem with this kind of tool is that in a few months or a year the software is not working anymore on the newer smartphones and the vendor is not updating it because they want you to buy the newer models. I have been in that street... I never by anymore a tool to put on a smartphone, they change far to quickly. Thats why I have a handheld model with screen, processor and battery so it can work for years to come. I have also a macro lens to go close to the device which makes it very usefull.
    But nevertheless its a nice tool and I hope you can enjoy it for a long time.

      I had the same concern with a Topdon, luckily I've found a couple of guys here on youtube who managed to get access to the video stream on linux without drivers. One even made a python tool to replace the propietary software, it doesn't have all the features, but it does work with relatively little effort.

    I bough very cheap on the release sale a uni-t uti120 90x120 last year. It´s just ok for electronics, although being also 25Hz helps to see pulsing. They have now a newer model with the same resolution as yours (probably same board) but cheaper, but it has fixed focus. For electronics yours looks fantastic.
    Having the microscope arm, if it was mine, I would try to design a 3Dprinted adapter to clip the phone with the camera there.

    Try building your own termal camera by removing the IR filter.
    It's a good alternative for someone how dosen't have the same budget

    • @incandescentwithrage
      @incandescentwithrage 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sensor isn't nearly sensitive enough to pick up thermal IR, only IR from remote controls etc.
      Anyway, what are you going to use to block the visible spectrum?!

    • @zaprodk
      @zaprodk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thermal camera and infrared is not the same. The thermal camera uses a thermopile sensor, it doesn't reacy to light. Also the lens is not made from glass, but selenium which is opaque to light.

    • @B1NT0N
      @B1NT0N 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's nowhere near the actually product, but its a low budget alternative.
      You could use a exposed photography film to block visible light.

  • @Leif_YT

    Don't have this one, but after seeing some other reviews of it the range also seems to be quite impressive. I saw videos where it detects the heat signature of deer like 150-200 meters away. At that distance the manual focus and higher resolution really kick in and make a huge difference compared to some of the flir one cameras and others, but also the fact that the chinese companies can sell much better tech because the US have pretty strict restrictions on IR camera technology available for the public.
    Not sure if it's software allows it, but pretty often you can also adjust the threshold levels for the cold colors (or the temperature range in general) which raises the contrast of the image if you're just looking for minor temperature changes.

    Sorin, to put the phone screen on PC screen in real-time to stream/record with OBS, if you'd like, try out TeamViewer or Vysor. TeamViewer needs wifi, Vysor needs wifi or cable. And Vysor is better - it's faster (at least if you use cable. never tried wifi). Thank you for the video!

    I don't trust mobile OS hardware or software. A little into the future and products are likely to become completely useless and unsupported without warning. If you're lucky, a community may build an open source software around it. I'd much rather buy a camera with a screen and everything already built into it. External monitor, etc.

    • @electrocat9
      @electrocat9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @thecapitalalliance

    I have it and have used it for more than 2 years. Some good things and some bad. The tolerances on the threads for the front lens are sloppy. I had to wrap the threads with 3.5 mil. Teflon tape to take up the slack. Now when I focus the lens it stays in place. I did a side-by-side comparison with the FLIR, and the HTI-301 was able to see more (i.e. under paint to identify a cavity in wood siding). I do have to reset the camera from time to time, so that's not great. I also picked up a 2' long USB-C female to male cord so I could fit the camera into small spaces that I didn't want to send my phone into.

    i'm happy for you Sorin, look like a good one for you to make life easier rather than petrol and burnt finger which btw i am quite impressed when i saw this on your videos but yes thermal camera is cool too..is there a way for us to see what you see instead of looking out camera into smartphone then image. eg direct image from the HT-301 into a PIP mini screen? some kind of dongel usb-c. i dunno if possible but would be cool to see more directly into your work area with you..

    So does this camera have a live and thermal picture?
    As most thermal cameras like this don't work well, as the live camera is the phone camera and the thermal camera is plugged in at the other end of the phone, leaving a big gap between each picture. But this looks good.

    • @will_doherty
      @will_doherty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the resolution on this camera is so good, that it means that it's not necessary to use a visual camera overlay, so this point is moot. The thermal camera is far too good for board repair work though, which is reflected in its price.

      @Leif_YT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The resolution is quite different though if someone cares about it. The ht301 has like 2x the resolution of the 260b.

  • @will_doherty
    @will_doherty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The camera has great resolution - the best I've seen to date - not that I've studied them. As I commented on your prior video, you have no need of such high resolution on a thermal camera for repair work. If your objective is to look for mud on your cat in the yard, or to look at your circuit board when it is switched off, then maybe. You have just spent double what you needed to, to get a thermal camera for work. And the camera falls to bits if you turn the focus too far! Then, when you look inside it (after it fell apart!), it has so much dust inside, it looks as though it was assembled in a chicken coup... I'm struggling to work out whether you're serious here, or if you're winding us up! [Edited for typos.]

    The easiest and cheapest way to clean a dirty sensor: facing it down and using a Dust Blower. Be careful using a cloth or cotton swap, it can scratch the sensor.
