One of the best videos on this product on youtube. Thanks for doing that comparison, it helped a lot to understand it better, especially for someone like me who hasn t had any thermal nor have used one before.
Looks really good, but they changed the price from 226 to 299 pounds/euro. Not happy with these practices. And makes the reviewer look bad too. For 226 no doubt I'd buy it, but I hate these shady price hikes.
On March 21, 2014, I saw $299 on Amazon. The clarity in close-up detail is great. H Just seeing the bright red spot is sufficient. I do somewhat sense bias in this review. Not to mention the price is not what the reviewer stated. It's much higher, $20 off if it worked would still be higher than what was stated here.
A tip for users of older (flir) Thermal Cameras: Turn off the optical overlay. Even with the lower thermal resolution, the pure thermal image makes more "sense" when diagnosing electronics. At least for me the displacement of the optical image creates more confusion than the added details helps. At least for me, turning the optical overlay off completely made my flir one way more usable for me.
The different colour palletes are useful for different situations. Like White hot is used for search and rescue or locating living things. The purple/orange is useful for electronics. If you can adjust the temperature range you can get even better detail. The problem with Flir and Seek is since both are American companies they are legally not allowed to export their better cameras such as the Lepton 24hz. Instead we get sensors like the Flir Lepton 8hz version like in your Flir One. Also, a Lepton 2.5 sensor has 80x60 resolution. The best Lepton 3.5 sensor is 160x120 resolution while the Infiray has 256x192. That in itself is a great advantage as resolution is the number one requirement when it comes to usability.
"This is my little finger so it's not going to be any used to you." :)) Security always at the forefront of one's mind :) Cool review, the hikmicro ones are good too. Liked and subbed :)
Been looking for a thermal camera for over a year now and was always hesitant about the phone connected camera. However after watching this I just picked myself up a Infiray P2 Pro for board repair. I thought it was neat that you can see the studs in your wall behind the drywall. Has to be an insulated exterior wall to detect the temperature differences.
Thanks for making this review as 'seeing is believing'. Based on this video I've picked one of these up with the (sold separately apparently) macro lens.
The Doogee S98 Pro phone has a Infiray P2 built in and has the option to combine the visible light picture with the infrared in various ways. The thermal camera is also very useful as a wall stud detector.
Yes it does but it is a little worse app and frame rate is a lot less but still way more than Flir 🤣 I have S98 Pro with the infiRay module and a separate Flir ONE PRO and the flir is GARBAGE compared to infiray 😁 especially the app and the battery dies all the time, I've got mine replaced 3 times on warranty while the infiray never had any problem. I usually only use pure infrared and not MSX/MIX with RGB camera. And the regular camera on the phone is far from good. infiRay also sells their own phone that has the camera in it and i bet it is much better overall but it is almost twice the price of the Doogee. It's the InfiRay PX1
A good review but it is important to know how well the camera fits to the phone and if both iPhone and Android are supported (connectors and apps). Also, does the camera need the phone's protective cover to be removed so that it can be fitted? some products in the past were bad for this. Note: I have seen this reviewed on another channel.. Cheers,
Even though because of its cost it's not a product for me (i've used a thermal camera like 3 times), I have to say it's a massive improvement compared to my cat S60 phone which I picked up second hand for 90€. Maybe in the future when the price is lower. Interesting video though!
Thank you for the nice BIG clear indications displayed at the begnning of the video that explain the sponsorship nature. Very much appreciated. Thanks for the great review too.
Woow, im so happy that you did a review. I was looking for another model first ( UNI-T 260B) which is more expensive and possibly overkill for me. Seems like this iOS flir is what I need. Its very well priced in my region, around 100€ cheaper and based on your video it does the job for me. Thanks mate
I prefered the days of touchy feely method. Because most people (me included) watching theese totorials are beginners and do not have a thermal camera or the money to buy one.
Seek compact XR coupled to an android tablet. I found because of the tighter field of view on the XR I found no need for a macro lens. Successfully pointed out a shorted cap on an iPhone board, good enough for me.
Splashed out on a FLIR TG267 months ago. It's ok for finding a general hot area, but it's not really of much use. I definately wish I hadn't bothered. But this puppy looks awsome!
FLIR's frame rate is limited to 9 fps or below by US export controls. Infiray does not share this restriction, so it will have an edge against new FLIR devices covered by the US controls. For more details, search for : Thermal Camera Export Restrictions infraredcameras
Does it have to do something with guns? Because why would they restrict a thermal, I think one comment said something about its only for ARMY when its above 9fps.
Edit - This is fixed, promo code is working as of 14th Jun 23! The price has jumped around, but is still cheapest at Aliexpress if you don't mind the wait. [OLD] Hello - I'm getting reports that the promo code isn't working, I'm contacting Infiray to find out what's going on! Sorry for the hassle, will update this pinned comment as soon as I can!
Please, sir, i need advice between UNI-T Ut260b handheld and infiray p2 pro detachable. Which should i go for Please sir just for repairs and also consider outdoor and indoor use battery life and the rest... thank for the answer sir 🙏
That was an excellent and instructive video. Do you have to use it with a mobile phone, or will it work directly with a PC or Mac on the end of a USB cable? I note that the resolution is very limited - 256x192 so only 50k pixels - so I wonder how much a greater resolution would help?
looks impressive, However price in the UK is £299.99 which is a huge jump from what you show in this video just 2 days ago. shame as now I will rethink and have to look thermal cameras a further, many thanks for the video :).
FLIR bashing is not required here. A tricycle is being compared to a motorbike. All the features being mentioned as missing on the FLIR are available on the slightly more expensive FLIR ONE PRO. Granted, even versus the PRO, the Infiray does have better clarity.
Can you not use a warm pointy object and , while looking at the image, move the stick to the object of interest by looking at the image. When you than look directly at the circuit board, you can see at which component the stick points too? I have no idea if this is even feasible, but it was something that I was immediately thinking of if I were to try to identify the component.see for example the video at 11:34. You can 'warm' the pointy stick by holding it close to a cup of warm water/coffee, whatever is available.
Yea something like that would work. A screw driver or even tweezers would probably do it, anything that's shiny metal will reflect the heat rays from around the room, so will light up under the camera even if it's not hot.
The product lineup of Infiray is really impressive these days. I'm also a Flir user (Flir One Pro), but being jealous of what Infiray and others offer these days. I hope that Flir will at least catch up in software a little bit, but i'm looking forward to switch in the upcoming year as well. One very simple feature I also like in the Infiray eco system is the temperature alarm. As a side hobby I fly FPV Coptersand charging LiPo batteries after a heavy crash always feels a bit uncomfortable. Being able to just point the thermal cam on the lipo packs being charged with a set temperature alarm would be so helpful. As far as I have seen Infiray is offering that features in some of their apps, while Flir doesn't have it.
Yup, this one has the temp alarm. What it feels like to me is that Flir gate certain features behind certain models, where as Infiray gives you the full software suite regardless of what camera you're using.
@@Adamant_IT I think some InfiRay cams can also be connected to a PC or? With Flir I've often the feeling that they don't care about their entry level line. They make big money with their cameras for the industry and government. When I've reported some bugs to the flir support it was sometimes very hard to reach them and their contact emails changed quite often like they changed the dev team behind the Android app. Lots of speculations from my side, but that's my feeling as a customer of them. They had a very annoying bug with new android versions that took them about a half year to fix for example. So much opportunities in software with such a piece of hardware, but they don't really make use of it. Luckily I got my flir one pro refurbished for around 200€. I wouldn't pay 400€ for it these days if I see what the competition offers around that price range.
I wish my small time repair business earned me enough to be able to afford one of these thermal cameras and a proper tri-nocular microscope with double boom arm mount. I wouldn't have to turn away 40% of customers that come in with items that need microsoldering and/or thermal fault detection.
their T3 pro is even more awesome with a resolution of 384x288! the images on their page look so cristal clear and so detailed you really don't need that visual spectrum sensor. But its also even more of a pipe dream for me at a cost of $843.55 sigh..
this is the umpteenth IR product review in Toob, all posted as within the last year at most, where the links or product “is unavailable, no idea if ever again” or outright discontinued.
im gutted i bought a flir tg165 6 months ago because the price seemed good but ive found that watching ipa evaporate has a infinetly higher resolution , also i find that it highlights bright red (top of scale) for any temp slightly above ambient so all chips run red! , i cannot find any way to set the scaling ,the really gutting bit is the infiray is the same money, ahhhh
How good is the software? Eg. Can you export a set of images to a document and comment them all.. or is it a matter of exporting images, then editing and creating a document in separate software? ..looking at uses tat may be outside of electronics.. report writing.
I am confused.. On Flir app there is always an option to match the visible image with thermal one. In settings there is also some side to side adjustmet. I used CAT S61 and S62pro until now and since CAT refused to make thermal imaging phones I got a Samsung S24 Ultra and I am now hunting for a thermal cam.
I think the blended visible+thermal image that Flir do is a unique feature to Flir. However, I've honestly not missed the feature because the higher resolution of these newer cameras makes it way easier to see detail than before anyway.
I've not spent time with a hand-held cam... I think it'd be more useful as a 'pick up and use', instead of having to open an app and stuff. But also the plug-in cams give you a flatter form factor, so it's easy to get up close...
I have the InfiRay PX1 phone with embedded thermal camera (and one major problem I will mention at the end) and it has a blend feature to combine regular image with thermal, however it's not good at close range. The mode that you will find useful is PIP (Picture In Picture). There are some caveats, though: - You cannot attach a macro lens to it at all. - The power connector is very deep in and most of my Type C cables can't reach it. - The big problem is the software. Often times you may have to reboot because the last time you used the thermal imaging app it didn't release the device, so when you launch it again it says device is busy. It has the same problem with the regular camera as well.
Yes, I agree that it's a great camera and very high quality, but people like me simply cannot afford to spend that much on it, no matter how much we want or need it. Between all the other monthly expenses, there's just no room to set aside $250-300. Maybe someday in another life, or perhaps if someone who doesn't find that amount significant decides to donate one to me, I could improve my repair process as well. Congratulations to you on getting one.
Do you know if the only difference between the one for Android and the one for iOS is just the connector/port? And nothing else specific built into the camera itself? Because the new iPhone 15 has usb-c now. So definitely I can’t buy the version that says it’s for iOS, because it shows the lightning port in the product images, and the new iPhones have usb-c now. However, the title of the usb-c version contains “Android”. Not sure if it has anything Android specific built in, or if it will work with an iPhone/iOS 🤔
Very good point, I'm not sure. I'll try my Type-C model on an iPhone 15 if I get the chance, but I don't have access to a 15 right now, so can't comment at this point.
Thanks for the prompt reply! In the meantime, I've noticed a comment (on the Amazon DE link), someone said the usb-c version doesn't work with iPhone 15. Not sure how tech-savy the person is, but perhaps it really doesn't work. Maybe the version for iOS/iPhone would work, with an adapter (lightning port to usb-c), but I would hate to buy it and then a few months later they come out with a firmware update to make the usb-c version work on iPhone :) Really bad timing to come out with lightning-port devices for iPhone, when iPhones just switched to usb-c :))
Yea mine doesn't either. Not something I thought of as I record separate audio for videos, but now you mention it, it would be useful for taking audio notes, or if you're making a video with just a phone and nothing else.
@@Adamant_IT exactly. All the rest of my thermal cameras do record audio; both the ones which needs to be connected to a phone (iPhone, Flir one pro), or the self- contained ones (Flir E6xt and Hikmicro M30). I thing it will be very easy to implement this feature in a future SW revision.
HI I have a Sony Bravia kd-55x7000d smart TV I would like to reuse I bought new few years ago. 'The tv turns on but freezes guessing a firmware issue tried to update via usb and factory reset but no luck. Would you like to show me how to dump the firmware and upload the latest version. Or is it worth paying someone to fix it or buy a new main board.
bro this is insane fast camera ! holy macararoni ! this is next lvl lets be real ! :O broooooo sickkkkkkkk as long i watch video i am more impressed LOL . Lets be real for that price destroy other ir cams!
Please refer to German customers as DE, nobody (in Germany at least) uses GE, maybe GER, but just go for the domain abbreviation as you did for everyone except Germany and Spain ;)
Does anyone have a problem with temperatures, mine is constantly showing higher temps. Sometimes 20 degrees higher, and I have shadows of the previous images covering current view. I tried to change all the setting but not joy???
I'll start I think the Infiray macro lens is cool. but your demonstration of the flir was awful and felt biased. I noticed the hotspot immediately on the flir, until you put your hand in. I felt the flir was better then the Infiray for this test. Again Infiray is cool. but this video felt paid for
I have Flir ONE PRO (the newest one) And a Doogee S98 PRO phone with infiRay camera. Trust me the Flir one is really bad, the resolution is way too low and it is actually less sensitive, also the Flir one has a lot of hardware problems and the app sucks and only support newer than 4 year old phones, they update away the support and refuse to help you
Still an expensive IR camera. No visible image blend is a minus. I subscribe to the long list of those asking you to shave that "beard". You are not more interesting with it. Just odd and nerdy.
Shill review? Did You get paid to do this review? The Flir One Pro has 3 points You can set at any time. It has temperature range, so You dont have to stick your hand in front of the camera. The Flir One Pro has the option to allign the 2 cameras perfectly when used at close distances. You should really replace Your worn out Flir One with a Flir One Pro. You´ll be happy that You did, even though I don´t have a promo code for You to get some discount
I received a free sample from Infiray to review. If Flir want to send me a One Pro, I'd be happy to test that out as well, although it lacks a macro lens, is lower resolution, and costs more than the P2 Pro... so... yea that'll be a tough sell.
So, you are saying that the Flir, a more expensive camera with 2.56 times less resolution (19200px Vs 49152px) and 2.8 times less framerate (8.9hz Vs 25hz) is better? Clearly you don't know how thermal cameras operate. The higher the resolution, the more detail and the longer distance you see. Add the better framerate and it will make for much more effective troubleshooting in more diverse scenarios. Not to mention the higher framerate does also make it easier to find wildlife or pests. Try following a scurrying rat and you'll see what I mean. Not bashing Flir, but bang for buck, the Infiray is superior.
I use my Blacview BV9800 Pro phone which has a builtin thermal FLIR & it works fine for PCB work & seeing how cold my beer is which is important. For what you pay for this in $AU I bought my phone with FLIR.
Very useful bit of kit and that's gonna have to be something to add to my list of new toys to add to my little at home computer repair jobs but seeing the price of them ouch I think I need a lot of laptops and desktops repaired / sold before I can afford one of those I gotta invest in a better scope as well gosh the one I got has a really good picture but the problem I have is it sits to low down so close to a board that if using rework station will probably cook it so ended up using a mobile phone stand clamped to my desk on a long adjustable arm and use my mobile phone as a camera attacked to my AIO PC And as a bonus just picked up some more laptops yesterday 10 of them in reasonable condition complete with chargers and hard disks kinda rare here for about 7,000 pesos or five or take 50 quid
One of the best videos on this product on youtube. Thanks for doing that comparison, it helped a lot to understand it better, especially for someone like me who hasn t had any thermal nor have used one before.
The hot spot was pretty clear on the Flir at 06:48 . The warm hand made it harder to see initially.
Yep. It was instantly recognizable at the initial 2 amp setting. You don't want to normalize it. Let the camera focus on the product, not your hand.
Looks really good, but they changed the price from 226 to 299 pounds/euro. Not happy with these practices.
And makes the reviewer look bad too.
For 226 no doubt I'd buy it, but I hate these shady price hikes.
yep me three.... I'll definately not be buying one for this reason, I would at 226 but I'll make do with my older Flir C3
On March 21, 2014, I saw $299 on Amazon.
The clarity in close-up detail is great.
H
Just seeing the bright red spot is sufficient. I do somewhat sense bias in this review.
Not to mention the price is not what the reviewer stated.
It's much higher, $20 off if it worked would still be higher than what was stated here.
Plus the macro lens is so stunning! A whole new world at once! Thanks for the review.
A tip for users of older (flir) Thermal Cameras:
Turn off the optical overlay. Even with the lower thermal resolution, the pure thermal image makes more "sense" when diagnosing electronics. At least for me the displacement of the optical image creates more confusion than the added details helps.

Great detector, I have used it for electrical arcing and for pressure leaks and expect to use it for a lot more.
Thumb-Up for the User ID image.
Just got one of these as well, they are insanely high quality. Be careful traveling with it, as it Violates US ITAR restrictions.
Why would that be? Upto 320s your fine...

At half the price 😂
@@MrPnew1 I paid the same price as the infiray years ago. I got my moneys worth out and more.🤷🏻♂️
I have the P2 and really like it。I haven't used it for anything super useful but it is handy for finding drafts in the house
such a good review with actual in use testing
Edit: "No unboxing, that's boring.", that's a based request from them.
I just purchased it from Ali after countless hours of looking at different thermal cameras. Fingers crossed is exactly what reviews say!

You can use it with PC, too (like any Infiray camera).
Cheers,
There is an included 10 or 20cm i think usb-c extension cable so you can hold it somewhere else and put it in tight places and still see the screem
I understand why you’re excited about Infiray. The quality looks amazing. well done
Looks very good indeed. Could be even better with a usb-c extension cord. 👌🏻

Would you recommend this or a handheld one! My issue is that I have an iPhone 15 Pro, ordered the hikmicro b01 but I can cancel it still
I've not spent time with a hand-held cam... I think it'd be more useful as a 'pick up and use', instead of having to open an app and stuff. But also the plug-in cams give you a flatter form factor, so it's easy to get up close...
All those forks in the sink! I bet you just grab another fork rather than wash the one you already used 😄
Thanks bro
I have the InfiRay PX1 phone with embedded thermal camera (and one major problem I will mention at the end) and it has a blend feature to combine regular image with thermal, however it's not good at close range. The mode that you will find useful is PIP (Picture In Picture).
There are some caveats, though:
- You cannot attach a macro lens to it at all.
- The power connector is very deep in and most of my Type C cables can't reach it.
- The big problem is the software. Often times you may have to reboot because the last time you used the thermal imaging app it didn't release the device, so when you launch it again it says device is busy. It has the same problem with the regular camera as well.
thanks for info brother
Yes, I agree that it's a great camera and very high quality, but people like me simply cannot afford to spend that much on it, no matter how much we want or need it. Between all the other monthly expenses, there's just no room to set aside $250-300. Maybe someday in another life, or perhaps if someone who doesn't find that amount significant decides to donate one to me, I could improve my repair process as well. Congratulations to you on getting one.
Hi, friend! Could you check the firmware version of this thermal imager. This can be done in the menu, in the help tab, version info tab. Thank you!
T3S 6.8mm Upgrade is worth it, I show some clips with it. (no audio)
Anyone has tried the UNI-T thermal cameras? There is also some for mobiles too, with different ranges like the UTi260M.
Ordered. Can't wait :D
Maybe the version for iOS/iPhone would work, with an adapter (lightning port to usb-c), but I would hate to buy it and then a few months later they come out with a firmware update to make the usb-c version work on iPhone :)
Really bad timing to come out with lightning-port devices for iPhone, when iPhones just switched to usb-c :))
Can i use type-c model with iphone 15 ?
could this be used to find cold spots/air leaks around doors and windows?
Absolutely, yes
Very nice video, thank you. By the way, I had to ask my self all the time and die to know, are you the son of the famous Catweazle?
why are you comparing the cameras from different sides of the board?
I live in Australia and bought one based off your review so thanks.
Android phone only?
Hello Graham. I've just received mine, and it didn't record audio with the videos. Is this normal?. TIA!
Does it measure in Fahrenheit too?
Presumably, because only F is mentioned on the Amazon headline
Sorry. US link does not work for me
The us link is broken.
Again Infiray is cool. but this video felt paid for
I have Flir ONE PRO (the newest one)
And a Doogee S98 PRO phone with infiRay camera.
Trust me the Flir one is really bad, the resolution is way too low and it is actually less sensitive, also the Flir one has a lot of hardware problems and the app sucks and only support newer than 4 year old phones, they update away the support and refuse to help you
300 quid! There's nothing in my tool kit that even comes close to having cost that much. That just makes it too expensive for the hobbyist.
Don't look right away... But there is something on your chin!
Your hair looks so strange when it is styled. LOL Not a knock brother, just so used to the wild look.
not for Iphone?????
I have the iPhone version, the P2 Pro+. Settings are a bit cryptic but once you figure it out it works great
Wish I'd seen this video 2 days ago, now I got a lower quality camera for the same price as this 😕
looks like some rammed up the price £299.99 lol
Still an expensive IR camera. No visible image blend is a minus.
I subscribe to the long list of those asking you to shave that "beard". You are not more interesting with it. Just odd and nerdy.
Ops suddnly i found my self unsubscribed :o
hat do u tbink about it
This think coming only for usb c phone? Well done China dividing the world in two 😂
I've seen it for iPhone if that is what you mean.
This is a garbage camera , thermal noise is more than real thermal picture, and resolution is trashy
Which camera do you recommend - I'll see if I can take a look and compare them!
Lots of useless talk !!! focus on your demo , we are not interested in stories !!!!
Very useful bit of kit and that's gonna have to be something to add to my list of new toys to add to my little at home computer repair jobs but seeing the price of them ouch I think I need a lot of laptops and desktops repaired / sold before I can afford one of those
I gotta invest in a better scope as well gosh the one I got has a really good picture but the problem I have is it sits to low down so close to a board that if using rework station will probably cook it so ended up using a mobile phone stand clamped to my desk on a long adjustable arm and use my mobile phone as a camera attacked to my AIO PC
And as a bonus just picked up some more laptops yesterday 10 of them in reasonable condition complete with chargers and hard disks kinda rare here for about 7,000 pesos or five or take 50 quid
Used by "TheCoder" and said to be a great IR Camera
