    Very nice one! Since watching your videos I am learning a lot.
    I saw more than a hundred of the 400+ online videos, I hit like to know which ones I saw. ;)
    I really enjoyed your words about beginners checking random components, so true. And now I'm progressing. With no schematics. Power supply...
    Thanks again for all your work and efforts.

    I admire your patience, and that of course comes from not only knowledge and experience, but also comes from positivism. Your videos are live lectures for the world, and you are very right, all videos out there edited cut off what goes wrong or what they struggle with. These videos are real... I don't mind watching for 3 hours, even though the end result was negative. Keep up ! and Thanks

    "Simple" job snowballs into nightmare - we've all had them in our lives. The smart thing is to know when to stop, or at least get the customer to authorise further work.
    Even so, frustrating for the guy who has to do the work.

    Maybe there is a defect piece that goes for internal screen plug. around the plug. I have the same problem. external screen works but not internal. Or the screen itself or inverter defect. Or maybe the screen itself has been damage. Don't worry Sorin, it's not your falt cause you don't know what the customer did before to bring it to you. Keep up your wonderfull work Sorin.

    • @eman59461
      @eman59461 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it could also be the End of the cable on the back of the screen they do work loose and cause weird screen problems.

    • @sergelavallee913
      @sergelavallee913 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eman59461 You're right could be also. But in my case i did change the screen, the wire, the inverter, and still no image and all my voltages are there and external screen good so i figured there is a component on the board near of the LVDS connector that is defect, transistor or resistor or diode or anything so i found the same motherboard in ebay in perfect shape for 45 canadian dollars, i bought it. No more problem it work just fine now.

    • @sergelavallee913
      @sergelavallee913 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eman59461 i did change my wire. Does not work. You know what? I went to see a technician and he told me to reformat cause when i did format i was connected on external screen and windows did format without reconising and connecting the internal screen. I was sceptical when my technician told me that windows 10 does that. So i went back home, did reformat and suddenly my internal screen works. So it is not always the LVDS circuit or other that is defect. Windows will always suprise me. So since i did just reformat, my internal screen works fine and everything works fine. So people be aware and check everything. Now i've learn a lot from those laptop lol.

    Hi Sorin , please make a video about what is different between( short and short to ground ) ?

    • @TJGermany
      @TJGermany 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short just means no or very low resistance between two pins of a part.
      Short to ground means no or very low resistance between a point and the ground of the circuit.
      Short to ground usually means there is a part that has an internal failure, so that part is short, and thus leading to short to ground.

  • @sotirispapadimitriou7391
    @sotirispapadimitriou7391 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The blown component is a SY6288C20AAC Low Loss Power Distribution Switch with current limiting function to protect the power source from over current and short circuit conditions
    The motherboard is (assumed from what i see on video ) NM-B191 Y520_MB_N17P_SVT_20161125-1430 and u9 from schematics is SY6288C20AAC
    So bridging and bypassing this 3.3 v is not a good idea because lcd can draw a lot of current if switched on suddenly at full brightness(schematic reports 1A-2A) I could say even higher on used laptop with degraded components because of use.The result will be soon or later a blown critical component .A better idea would be to install a proper fuse

    • @TJGermany

      you'll need the board's schematics and then you can hopefully identify the part and replace it with the proper component.

      Get some old broken mainboards from somewhere to practice a bit with the hot air gun. I thought it's pretty straight forward, too....but then I ended up getting the board to hot, so components fell off from the other side, I moved some resistors and capacitors...well, I removed the Super-IO, but I don't know if I'll be able to move all the other components back.
      So, again: GET A PRACTICE BOARD!

    Hello Sorin,
    I have a motherboard that is exactly te same as the one you are working on. it suddenly died while i was working on it or using it. I opened it up to check ang visual issues and couldn't find so i only cleaned it up and put it back together.
    I was surprised to see that it turned on and started working, but then it stopped charging the battery. so i thought let use it like this as i mostly use i ar home so direct power isn't an issue.
    i dont remember how long it took but one fine day it suddenly turned off while in use.
    this time i found the mosfet right next to the power input jack on the board and strangely if i put some weight on it, the laptop would start but no light where the adaptor plugs in. it would power on and turn off automatically but if i pressed and held it then it would boot up.
    i basically tried to resolder it and got it working. yesterday it went off again and the mosfet separated from the board and in my stupidity i manage to damage one of the pads which connect to a capacitor on the right of the mosfet if the power input is further away from us ie behind the mosfet. i have some pics of it and would like to show them to you for your expert opinion. can i email you and send the pictures too?? i will be grateful if you coul help. In my country there are loads of people doing these repairs but they are the kinds who dont understand electronics as such and can only do things on laptops, or some oy on phones.I happen to have the schematic and board view file for this and will send that as you can put it to good use. the board is exactly like the one you are working on in this video it is Lenovo Legion Y520 IKBN laptop in my case.
    please let me know how i can send the pics and schematic
