A couple extra notes would be: All the metal frames by b&l were handmade in USA with 160 different steps (similar to Randolph engineering) and all the gold frames are gold plated with 23k gold, and in the case of the black a silver pairs, they are chrome plated, not sprayed painted, in order to protect them from rust.
I have a 1971 model, others from 1994 and, more recently, some models from 2019 onwards. The G15 B&L lenses have a slightly different (lighter) color than the Luxottica model.
I've got a new pair of RB aviators with ambermatic lenses. They're photochromatic. Love the retro vibe, and they make everything look warmer. Gray days less depressing. Just wish they were made stronger. The metal bends too easily. Feels cheap. I'm afraid to overwear them. Limited run. Can't find another. Perhaps I'll look for a mint B&L pair. Wish Randolph made a yellow, orange or amber lens. Guess I could put custom lenses in a pair of Concords. Wouldn't be glass though, unfortunately.
Got the opportunity to buy a pair of Ray Ban 1/10 12K GP small from the 40s probably. On top of the bridge they only say Ray Ban. Any good for actual use?
i got 2 older b&l 's but not with the etched b&l inscribes IN the glasses? just 2 blank glasses without the b&l inscription in the glasses ..could this be in the 1997's takeover period or what? still havent figured it out..
I have a pair of both vintage B&L and modern Luxxotica Aviators in XL size. They are both gold frame and to me anyway - aside from the lens colour (the B&L one is very slightly mirrored brown/blue, the modern are polarised green) - they feel pretty damn identical.
The original would look more green likely because the glass is thicker. As the color is part of the glass and not a coating on the lenses the thickness of the glass would increase the green color of the glass tint.
I have about 20 pairs of raybans and all but 1 pairs are vintage B&L. I have 1 modern pair of wayfarers that I take on holiday and they are no where near as good as the OG pairs.
Modern luxottica ones last 2 to 4 years but bausch and lomb ones 20 years that’s why the vintage one you’re reviewing is still in good shape . Night and day difference between quality. Luxottica sunglasses are fully crap now.
Bausch and Lomb Ray-Ban was pretty crap in the end also. The last years of BL Ray-Ban they were sold in gas stations. The quality was terrible and Luxotica did save the Ray-Ban name from dissapearing. The older BL Ray-Ban was amazing, but the last years in the 90’s was much worse than today.
How? They are still just thin metal and glass... I don't care how good the quality is, if you drop either one they will probably break... and if you take care of either one they will last equally.
May I humbly make a suggestion: can you add a segment to your reviews where you pop them on the top of your head and describe how it feels from the way it sits and if they easily slip off. For those of us that likes to wear sunglasses on the top of our heads from time to time

I love the classic more durable!!
So do the modern lenses fit in the vintage set, or is there a way to replace the old lenses
I also noticed that one of the temples has a little bit of a tilt
Greatest sunglasses of all time. Can you get the original caravan large size NOT new caravan, with brown crystal lenses?

Hi. I have the Ray-Ban W1535 Classic Collection IV Arista Sunglasses with golden ray ban logo, what year it is manufactured this collection???????

B&L every time! There are still plenty around.

Shouldn't do that and no true sunglass enthusiast will forgive you. 😢
No one here does that my boy 😂
@@thcannabimon9390 I do that. And I’m not a “true sunglass enthusiast “ in your eyes.
Is that ok?
@@vasilileung2204 Why would you do that ?. It's an eyewear not a headwear. 🤣
