    It's so sad how often financial abuse occurs with elderly.. and it's often from one of their own loved ones

      Not just the elderly, but people with disabilities as well, and by people who work in the health industry. In my field, I have dealt with that issue and it's heartbreaking to see vulnerable people abused.

    Having watched my mother-in-law's decline from Alzheimers over the past five years or so, it absolutely disgusts me that someone would deliberately try and fool someone into thinking they had it. The fear, pain and confusion my mother-in-law's gone through trying to understand and accept that she has it has been heartbreaking, and to think that someone would willingly inflict that on a vulnerable person purely for financial gain... 😡

      ikr it’s horrible. i’m so sorry you had to go through that with your mother-in-law. my grandma had dementia, but passed before it got too serious. i can’t imagine what you went through actually seeing someone go through this horrible illness.

      @LilyGrace95 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same here. It was my granddad, but it progressed incredibly slowly (15 years in the end!), and while he seemed to accept it, the toll it took on my grandma was a whole other story. I can't imagine putting someone through that level of hell just for money... And I'm so, so sorry your family had to live with that terrible disease - I hope the rest of you never go through it again x

    I'd never think that a nurse out of all people, the one person you would usually trust to save your life, does this to someone for their personal benefit.

    If you actually had a family member with alzheimers or dementia, you would definitely want doctors to do more scans if they thought she was more cognitive than they normally are or normally should be at that stage.
    I would have given anything to have been able to have my nana not have dementia for those last probably 15 years of my life, which when she passed, was a good portion of my life. Im just thankful she didnt go downhill really fast when she first started showing signs. She forgot everyone in my family (her only family left was my dad - her son - my mum and me and my 2 siblings). She only remembered me and my dad. And then she forgot me. And then she forgot my dad, her only child. If doctors thought she had had a surprisingly cognitive day sometime in there and that maybe her brain couldve shown something going on that could have been fixable, id have begged them to do so.

    It bothers me how is most episodes, all the patients/parents get pissed or aggravated when they see Dr. Charles walk in. Now, I know that in irl, it’s true! Mental health is scary and people don’t want to be told they got a mental disease or they need to be evaluated by a psychiatrist. But I feel like if I was in need of help or my family was, I’m open to any doctor. Dr. Charles is absolutely my favorite character in this show and I see him as such a comforting, calm, reliable doctor that is there to help people mentally and emotionally, not necessarily as a diagnosis but to take it easy with the blow of such news and such. Like the one episode where there was a mass shooting in a park, a woman was there and having a panic attack/PTSD trigger and Dr. Charles immediately went to help her and calm her down with his practice. He’s a great character

      Back in school, as a student I was on the "board" that decided about harsher punishments for kids (e.g. getting kicked out). You wouldn't believe how many parents were more focused on appearances than actually helping their children.
      For example, we had a case of some 5th graders getting drunk (or atleast attempting to) during schooltime, buying alcohol through the homeless guys near the bus stops. There were some serious issues to uncover, but the one thing that father said was "my son is no alcoholic"...it was literally the only thing he cared about. Not because he wanted to defend his son, but it clearly would have been a great shame for him if is son was in fact alcoholic.
      Which, btw, no one on that board even accused the kid off...

      Cause, effect and perspective.
      Impartially, it’s Lorraine’s word against the daughter’s, and if they did have such bad blood why would Lorraine trust her in the first place?
      There is a lot more sense if the daughter was terrible, leading her father to cut her out of his will, and she faked an alzeihmer’s diagnosis to leech out if Lorraine.

    My granddad was diagnosed with dementia, and incredibly unusually, it took 15 years to finally beat him. So, unlike most who have to deal with this awful disease, my family and I know *exactly* what it looks like when it progresses slower than usual. What a genuine "good day" looks like in the early days. I also know that even until his very last hospital visit, when he was bedridden and barely verbal, my grandma would have done anything to be told it wasn't true and he was going to be fine. Anything.
    Brilliant writing to show the opposite of that in every instance. Even in CM is sometimes exaggerated for drama's sake, you can tell the writers at the very least do their research.

    I am only at 1.10 , but have reached a conclusion ..solidified by the excessive talking of her 'daughter. It is unnatural to waffle on like that. Most women would approach the bed,and hold their mother's hand and talk gently to her mother,perhaps ask the doctor a question or two,whilst being supportive, to their mother. Something is not right and I hope my conclusions are incorrect. Then again, it is just a fictional television show
