The eucalyptus there were planted as a windbreak in the early part of the 1900's. A large section of them was removed recently due to trail work and their advacned state of decline (100 years is a long life for a eucalyptus in the northern hemisphere, where they are not actually native and it is too wet for them). Cal Poly Humboldt used to be a State University, it is still a university, just with a different designation. As you can tell, I spent some time there. Was a student when it was Humboldt State University. One of my favorite places in the world! Trinidad is my favorite beach. If you are still around, the restaurant on the pier does a great breakfast. And Sue Meg Stae Park (formerly Patrick's Point) has my favorite campground ever. Thanks for the views of my favorite places!
I really normally don't do this at all. I like you & your channel. I even met you in person in 2018 & you are a very Humble human being, In other words you don't put on a facade of personality for the channel to appease viewers. I know you don't celebrate the holidays but Merry Christmas from me to you.
LOL Those people didn't want anything to do with the crazy man in a van talking to himself. That was funny. That was quite the view out your door at the end.
The eucalyptus trees were planted about a hundred years as a windbreak. They just cut down half of them to accommodate the trail that connects Eureka and Arcata.
Well, you indeed saved me time and gas by visiting and showing one of my favorite areas north of Arcata. If you take the coastal access road north from where you were parked, you can find short trails that lead out on to some land masses, some rocky and grassy flat areas surrounded by ocean and with the best scenic views....thanks and take care !!
I’m new to your channel, find it interesting how living in a van and able to travel. I live in state of WA too much rain for me been wanting to move near coast, Thank you for sharing.
@ 24min. What a lovely beach. I'm wondering though.. is this one of those beaches that experiences rouge waves? That scares the begeesus out of me. Glad you took us further up the trail. What a view indeed!. Thanks for your efforts.
I stay away from microfiber prefer 100 percent cotton including flannels. My favorite is expensive but look at The Company Store or The Vermont country store. I own both places sheets I have had for many many years.
I have an older van. This is year five full time for me. In the last couple of years I have had the engine and tranny replaced. Several people told me I would still have problems even with a new engine. Of course they are right. I spent an extra 3k over the top of the engine rebuild, and I am so happy about it. I got an upgraded battery, higher output alternator, new fuel injectors, new exhaust system, new fuel pumps, plus much more. Even though most of those parts were still good. Now they should last as long as the new engine. It is so much cheaper to get it all done at once. Than piece by piece on the road. I have three times as much money in my van then I can sell it for. But as you know having confendance in the mechanicals is so stress relieving. Best wishes and happy travels!
& Even though you have 3 times as much cash put into your van/home, it's your home and it's going to last you another several years now and I mean several. Not to mention, do you know how much a new vehicle cost nowadays?? They are Ripping people off left and right,, the prices are Astronomical these days.More computer electrical componentry to go wrong.. I'd rather have a semi-older vehicle and keep it going at almost whatever the cost.
Thanks for the great morning walk! ❤ What else do you want for Christmas, besides the transmission, engine and some attention to the van door track? Thanks Scott, thinking of you today in my prayers! 😇🙏🏻🕊🇺🇸💕🎄
:) THANKS MUCH for sharing! WELL DONE indeed, and a great escape from our dark cloudy weather in Seattle area! Absolutely beautiful place you are at, and not missing the traffic either. Stayt well and dry, ALL the BEST and Cheers ! :)
Hello Marty go look at 30:40 it’s my van blue grey sprinter in the back of Scott walking to his van I saw him working so didn’t want to disturb him😜✌️🫶👋
OMG! I went and looked :) Did not realize that was a NEW Van! :) CONGRATS as I was looking for your old Van LOL! ENJOY and ALL the BEST! @@JoseySerenityWagen
Trinidad is where I stayed up there when my grandson graduated from Humboldt State University in Arcata, and it's so true, it just feels like home. I like to think of it as Homeboldt sooooo lovely. Thanks for sharing that Onederful place, Scott. Stay warm thru the coming storm 😺💜
Eucalyptus trees are a windbreaker to save the soil in your farm or garden. I lived in North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley in the 1950's. Eucalyptus trees came from Australia. Look it up. Cindy
Thank you Scott! I just landed an apprenticeship with a building contractor this summer. I can't wait to start my career building tiny homes in Washington. Love the Pacific Northwest so much!
Hey Scott! Glad to have you home! I see someone already mentioned that the eucalyptus trees were planted as a windbreak many years ago. I have memories of driving by them as a small child. I still love them. And yes, Cal Poly Humboldt is a university. Our SIL is the Cal Poly Humboldt bookstore manager. I loved your footage of Trinidad Head. We've hiked it many times. ❤ The baskets are crab pots. Fresh crab is amazing! We've had some lovely weather recently; I hope you got plenty of solar power. We always enjoy your videos. 😊
Very nice to get another video of yours. Beautiful areas your walking. So pretty. Beautiful, Scott. Thank you for this beautiful view. Blessing to you.
I don't know what you have for solar but I have a solar generator and I can charge it with solar or through the cigarette lighter or from an outlet with an AC charger. It is nice not to have to rely just on panels. :)
I have a 1200 watt portable battery as well as my 100ah house battery. My system is set up to give me enough power with only solar since I am primarily static and never have access to shore power
Great scenary Scott. I can almost smell your coffee. Thanks for the peaceful and calming vlog. What cute neighborhoods you always find. Because of your videos you bring these beautiful places to us. 😊😊❤❤
I'm in Vista, CA, near Oceanside, coastal north of San Diego, if you ever come south and want to borrow my carport. There's also a clubhouse with a shower a few feet away from my carport.
The trees in my neck of the woods are now bare thanks to that crazy rain storm last night. A little jealous seeing those red woods and greenery. I purchased a 1/2 pound of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee for pour-over at Porto Rico Imports in NYC, a local Italian coffee importer for over a hundred years. “Ethiopian coffees are known to possess a slightly spicy and almost “wine”-like flavor.” Can’t drink Dunkin’ Donuts anymore. What is Starbucks? I am now an official grown-up thanks to you. ☕️
Hi Scott I got my mineral 🐝 pan today got it seasoned and cooked two eggs and ham in it tonight no sticking 👍 thanks so much for the advice, love that heavy pan. WOW what a beautiful view with the sun 🌄 and those Sea stacks. I miss that whole area you are in. Crescent City has nice redwood trails also. And the best clam chowder in a sourdough bowl ever, at a restaurant called the chart room.
Your channel is a warm corner of the tube cheers Scott ☕
Aww, thank you
Agreed. Very soothing
Missed the lapse since your last video, I’m a new follower. Love your channel.
I concur. Extra credit for the nifty maps.😊
I totally agree here!

I was a student in the mid 50s when it was Humboldt State College. Got my masters there in 1992
As much coffee as you drink they should be giving you a sponsorship
Can't beat California weather ... it is so great here.
Hi Scott I’m a Ranger here in New Zealand and appreciate having a look at the parks trees etc in your part of the world.
That "probably didn't like me" blurb was fricken funny. I almost spit out my monster energy drink at that.
I appreciate your calm, soothing and classy presentation of your adventures ❤ many thanks
Thanks Nancy

Beautiful beach beautiful park ! The ocean view amazing ! Wow !

It happens often so I was happy to catch it on video, haha!

Thank you. Windbreak makes sense
It's a very nice beach area, it's amazing how peaceful it looks.

Aloha Scott - Happy Holidays!! Thank for all that you do for your subscribers.
Well thank you for always watching. Happy Holidays, Island Girl!
Thank you for showing these places. I'm slowly building a list of places to visit one day. Thanks.
Thank you fir the walk in the red woods.😊
Was hoping you’d head south to Humboldt…Thanks for sharing some of my favorite spots…❤
I LIKE THAT SHREDDED CHEDDAR, PEPPER JACK, AND MOZZARELLA BLEND CHEESE ON MY HOME MADE NACHOS, TOPPED WITH SALSA AND SOUR CREAM.
I found your Yellow Bird sample size at Walmart for $1.
Can’t wait to try it!
I hope you like it!
OMG, one dollar. I got some on Amazon for $11.00. I love yellbird and glad about the coffee brewing tips.

I live in Eureka You stayed. Fairly close to where I live. Those baskets, you said that are for some kind of fishing by Trinidad are crab pots.
Yes love all the places you share
Such a stunning video. The views were absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy your videos are awesome.

The view from the van near the end was amazing
5am, great time to get up and get moving, coffee calling
I just watched vancityvanlife van tour with you five years ago. What a beard! It was like a separate guest. Bring it back! … 🙃.🙂
Hahahaha
Thank you for sharing this nice video! Sorry about your door...
Trinidad really is beautiful!
Hello Scott, funny that’s my van looking for a parking place to prepare dinner at 30:40 when you’re walking to your van😉✌️🫶👋
Small world! I hope you enjoyed Trinidad

Hi scott great video the scenery was so warm and comforting I do worry about you when you talk about your van issues honestly I do. Please be safe
@ 24min. What a lovely beach. I'm wondering though.. is this one of those beaches that experiences rouge waves? That scares the begeesus out of me.
Glad you took us further up the trail. What a view indeed!. Thanks for your efforts.
I’m not sure about rogue waves. None of these are swimming beaches from my perspective. Although a lot of people swim and surf here.
South Africa is watching your video Scott...thumbs up bro

Well I don’t celebrate any holidays so I guess a nice day off with some sunshine
Wow! That really is breathtaking. It would be hard leaving it.
Happy almost Christmas 🎄
Thumbs up 👍
Love the sound of the creek.
A DC to DC charger might be a good investment. As much as you drive, it would help charge your house battery.
Maybe you missed it or maybe you thought that I was joking but the van needs a new engine and transmission. I don’t drive much because of it.

Scott, a beautiful spot in N Cal. Great vlog😊
The park is so pretty and tranquil.
Stayed in Trinidad a couple of times. Have a picture of the lighthouse at Trinidad.
Those fishing things are crab pots! Also the things besides them are anchors for moaring boats. So technically you were half correct. Hope this helps
