@LBIFBACK i was surprised that the shoe leaked when you poured water on it. ANY leather skate shoe should be able to shrug off that little bit of water. Then I realized that you don't pull the laces tight at the toe. I have an ancient pair of VANS (not SK8 Hi but like a Half-Cab) that shrug off water, even water that's a bit deep. They've been soaked lots of times, bike riding and hiking in the forest. They started leaking after many, many years when the sole began to separate from the upper. What's important is not "waterproof" but drying time and good quality leather that can withstand getting soaked. That pair of Vans lasted over ten years. But I'm not as rough on shoes as a 19 year old... 😀
Yeah definitely a bummer that they leaked. They’ve been making MTE’s like that for a while. I think they’ve gotten better with making them water resistant and even some waterproof. I have to get another MTE pair this year to see if they’ve officially fixed the issue
Yo awesome Review! Might get these in black right now as they're 2x cheaper than the mte 3 gor tex models. But i heard either way these vans don't last long. Ashame because i wanted a "winter shoe" tyle shoe... Side note: really cool they added regular laces!!! I wonder how they look with those on!
There’s an older version of Sk8Hi MTE that looks very very similar to the one you made actually. I own them but I can’t tell you the exact name of the colourway for you to look up :/ There’s less black more khaki and the white is slightly off white not ice
Very helpful, almost bought these for delivery driving this winter. Thanks for the review!
Did you buy em?
Thank you for the honest review. I am looking for a ordinary styled shoe that will keep my socks dry.

The top of the toebox is where I would want primaloft lining the most, my toes be freezing
Nooooo, now i don't want to buy a pair... 😖

The mte 3 are garbage they don’t have the vulcanized soles they are cemented and that comes off after a few months you made the right choice on those.
What you mean? I saw reviews on mte 3 gortex and they took the sole right out. Are tou rendering to non gortex model?
Thats weird, i have the black and white mte 2 and ive submerged them plenty, they keep me dry.
Greasy vid bro. Thank you.

Does the insulation make it too hot for summer hikes?
Hi, can you share the link where I can customize the shoe, like the one you showed in the video? Thanks much!
On the Vans website they have an option to customize your shoes
