Just ordered these, £153 , watched your review first, I also never wore a pair of Vans, these look very durable though and remind me of the sole on some of the Converse boots I got, but these look a little better for trekking the muddy wet fields/woods with my dog. Hoping for the best, I also hate the feeling of clown shoes, and agree the toe box looks like one of those that means i won't be as nible. I keep finding these under armours never last long when put to the test of long 7mile walks, even switching between 2 pairs everyday. that cloud sole feeling bottoms out fast, and the grip wears down very fast too. These will be more durable I'm sure.
Tried these at the store and talked to the staff about them. I had to go half a size up also. Staff said they hate the laces. The laces are very short, you barley have enough to tie the laces if you loop them at the top metal rung and also the staff told me they couldn't keep the laces tied even if they tripled knotted them because of the lace material.
these look bad ASS! I seriously love vans and love that they are making running shoes and work boots because they are the only shoe company that understands that I have flat feet with a SLIGHT arch. Adidas hurt me SO bad even though I love the style of them.
I can agree with you. Under Armour shoes have really changed the game for me. Also I found a pair of Asics and wow.. I tried these on and did not expect a pair of vans to feel so good.
There were 2 sk8 high mte’s I was looking at, the water proof insulated ones, and the gortex ones. The main difference is the insulation thickness. The water proof insulated ones, look better, and have more color selection, but 100G insulation which is rated for 34 degrees to 14 degrees, the gortex ones are rated for 14 degrees to -4 degrees (Fahrenheit). Both waterproof. I don’t live in a super cold environment but I’m buying them as winter motorcycle boots, so I opted for the thicker insulated gortex version.
I really think these where designed to be a winter MTB shoe. Not skate shoe. There really no options what's so ever for gtx winter flat pedal shoes. It's very difficult to find. I think this is vans nice little niche. It not designed for high impact but it works hella fine sitting on pedals
I've just picked up a brown, non-gore-tex pair from TK Maxx £39, 14/12/23. Should have been Christmas shopping but the first thing I bought was for myself.😅 I wouldn't use them for hiking or walking, I'll stick to Hoka and Terrex. They're a great looking, comfortable, casual boot not a serious trail shoe. They look great with jeans and turn-ups. The review is correct, they do run large. I'm a solid UK 9.5, in Adidas I'm usually a UK 10. I would have been fine with a UK 9 in these. I've slipped an thin inner sole inside and they're now more comfortable and a definite better fit.
These are dope, I've got the MTE 2 in blue/black, which looks really nice. Made a mistake and took 'em half a size smaller though. I don't understand why Vans doesn't stitch the top of the sole, it's always bound to unglue at the pinch point.
You just got my partner the MTE 2 ultra EXO for her dog walks may review them as I keep hearing great things about the MTE 2 range as this pair I reviewed here wasn’t for me. Thanks for watching and the comment 🙌
Hey just wondering what work you were thinking about using these for. These are a boot made as a comfy shoe to wear in ski slopes in snow resorts aren't they? Water/snow proof but more comfy than wear ski / snowboard boots. Just curious?
Would you consider these for wearing year-round or mostly during winter and in the snow? I work on an ambulance and I need something that's comfortable, water proof and can wear year round if possible
These are the next winter boots I’ll be buying. I have had MYE1 and just got a great deal on MTE2 from Zalando too. You clearly try a lot of sneakers and boots and know what you like, but even at that 9.5 they didn’t look too big on your feet. My MTE1 have had a battering for over 2 years and I wouldn’t hesitate in getting these Gortex models when I need to renew my walking boots as I suspect they will do a great job.
Seems like from your review these are ideal but you got the wrong size and are basing the review on what you think they would be like in another size. I tried in my usual size and they were roomy but didn't feel like clown shoes at all.
@@Estavejacob These MTE 3's are way heavier then the regular SK8's. They are considered a weather boot. From the regular Sk8's to the MTE 1-2-3's the weight goes up each accordingly. I've got over 20 Sk8's, 7 pairs of MTE 2's and 6 MTE 3's. Trust me the regular SK8's are thinner. Keeping it real y'all! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻💯
I have these Vans mte 3 gore-tex shoes and they are pretty bad for snowy weather. Absolutely (really) no traction on icy surfaces, they are super slipery. Also quite cold as soon as you step in snow. I bought them for walks on snowy days and I am totally disappointed :(
I tried these today on shopping center but I felt that front upper rubber part hurt (like a prick feeling)top of my feet while walking, I tought shoes are fresh thats why , can you give me advise, that rubber part becoming soften timely or stays rigid ?
So it’s not mad padded out but still has good padding I would say true to size … but! The toe box is mad long for some reason, trip hazard if you ask me 🫢
Definitely true to size. I've got 5 pair of these Vans. Depending on what color way you buy you might have the illusion that they look long especially in the dark black.
I went a half size down on them because of how much toe space there is. The padding will adapt to your foot but that extra long toe space and front of the shoe isn't going anywhere.
The lace hook at the top of the boot fell off after I wore these boot for the first time on the paved street...just saying. I would not recommend these boots, as nice as they look. Thanks for the video!
Reading reviews people are saying the glue isn't strong enough, someone said they had to return it 3 times. I was so close to buying these since its onsale, a damn shame.
I never did a wear test on this pair as I wasn’t keen on the shape but people have left some great advising comments glad they could help your decision ✌️

Comfiest shoes Ive worn other than indoor Kobe 9s
I’m also a 9. Tried the 9.5 it’s like 3 sizes to big. Got the 9 fits like a glove. Makes no sense lol

I think these maybe hit in the winter,
I would advise a pair of goretex Hokas they are comfortable and great all year round ✌️
Are these effective in Canadian winter weather? Please do reply cos it'll be of great help.
Sure thing bud
At what temperature of cold can these shoes be worn?
Казалось, что они будут комфортны и в -25, но на деле, их предел это -15 в течение 30 минут хоть бы начинают замерзать

I wear Vans but efn hate they have no sole. I can feel the cracks in the sidewalk. And they fall apart too fast for the money
composite toe version of them would be awesome!!!!!!!!
They should make same model only for moto riding reinforced ankles , d30 and made of cordura .
I’ve had the regular skate hi’s before and this is exactly how i felt too, kept tripping over the front of my foot, too long!
Thank you! Thought was going crazy tbf glad someone else gets it 🙌
Nice move for Vans!
They smashing it tbf

2 or 3? What do you recommend?
Are these slip resistant ?
These look so sick. I want a pair

I have a question. I have the ecxact same shoe but the internals arent M3 and it says Goretex Duratherm. Are mine Fake?
No yours are the Newer version that the ones He's showing.
Where did you buy those camo pants? :)
How does the toe box differ from traditional Sk8 hi’s ?
There the same, very comfortable. On the heavy side but I like them a lot. They run true to size.
It feels like a normal shoe. Honestly not heavy at all I’d have to disagree with that ^

Is this warm in the winter? Say -25 degrees ( I'm Canadian )
Same
Germany here
I think this is the mte1. Mte2 more insulated for snow and mte3 is for coldest I believe.

Interested in an update on how they’re holding up

Whats snow kicker
Would this stand construction or concrete work ware ???
This! I do concrete and pipe fitting and I’m looking at these but I want to know if they’ll hold up
Does the toebox mean these are longer than regular sk8-hi's?
I personally feel they are longer…. But at current time I don’t have a pair or regular sk8 hi’s to compare
They’re the same
How i can andestud, original this shues or no?
AJ9 Olives winterized is the goto for trekking but these look decent.
Them 9s seem like they would hold up well ,
Yeh I like these vans but it was just the long toe box …. Trip city

Doing a review of a shoe you haven’t actually worn is kinda funny 😂
The mte sk8-hi comes apart at the arch it’s a shitty shoe the mte 2 is a far more durable.
