- Lewis Hamilton lost the 2021 world championship to Max Verstappen, and was unable to win the eighth world title, in which he would overtake Michael Schumacher and become the driver with the most world championships in history.
In the video you can see his disappointment, both for him and his team and the team radio shows it.
I gained a ton of respect for Lewis after this. The way he handled it was world class. We all know max would still be crying.

This has to be sarcasm. Hamilton and Mercedes have handled the 2021 loss way worse than most contestors in history especially after being completely in their own class for a decade. They shut down for month, skipped every obligatory ceremony and are still crying about it to thos day. A champ puts a suit on, shakes hand and be done with it, not this never ending baby rage behavior. Mercedes forgot very fast how they brought down max' point gap midsesson by crashing him out twice in england and hungary with their own drivers. They were robbed the abu dhabi win but sure not a deserved wc title. Not to mention pulling every cheat possible lategame with banned wings and 20 engines and whatnot. A champ also has self reflection and would blame himself for tossing baku by messing on the brakes against perez vs trying to blame others and the circumstances. Baku max lost 25 to bad luck tyre explode and ham lost 25 to bad driving, still people think he deserves 2021 💀
I am a redbull fan, what the FIA did in this race was complete mess up...whether you like it or not or respect lewis or not, he was robbed of his 8th which he would've won and many analysts/data readers even said max had no chance in catching lewis in time if the FIA didn't do what they did. it's not redbull's fault though.

All because the FIA and officials took so long to clear one car from the track! IMO, that is the most outrageous part of this race.
Learn to understand the events. First.of all Latifi the tit left the engine on for a full minute before turning it off. Due to Kers they couldn't start moving it until then. Secondly even without that it took longer as they couldn't leave it on the side of the track as both Kimi and Latifi and already had offs there so there was a possibility someone else could and thus it's be dangerous. So they had to get a crane in and remove it. It took about four minutes just to remove the car and even without Latifi doing that it's still be part of way into lap 56 before it's clear so no. It still wouldn't have changed much. It once took three laps for a safety car to come in for a maniac on track who was tackled pretty quickly let alone a car at an awkward part of the circuit.

Only letting some cars un-lap themselves, or even just pass the leaders, was the only contributing factor to the race result. Had all cars, like any other race weekend and as per the rules, were aloud to un-lap themselves, then the race would have concluded under the safety car. We all know how that would have ended. Its no wonder Massi went in to hiding.

I'm replying to eejits that when confronted with your point (which I agree with ) try and change the narrative that the cars should have been allowed to unlap earlier (i.e. rendering your point moot if they'd been allowed to do so). So in that context is VERY relevant as it explains why no they couldn't have unlapped sooner with marshals on track and clean up ongoing.

The best scenario in my mind was a red flag everybody new softs , new start and fighting for 1 lap but sadly it went different. Lewis drove amazing that whole race but on old tires your fucked.
Problem is the car was off track too quick for a red but not quick enough for most normal people to assume there'd be any more laps left. If he'd created a bigger smash then red flag and a five lap shootout would have been the fairest way. However based on the speed of Mercedes versus RB all weekend it would have been LH that would have won as the Merc engineer states. The ONLY way they could have won was the scenario that transpired.

@@sdsmt99 naa nobody would have been whining. The whining comes from the complete disregard for rules and convention which meant that the whole race was fixed to a two car shootout. Never before or again has that or will that happen..that is the point. Hence the controversy and talk to this day. But a red flag everyone has the same conditions for sporting fairness (there was none for Sainz who had to get passed back markers so couldn't be tucked up under Max wing is just one of 18 examples of how way more than Hamiltons actually their races were screwed). So no arguments there.
@@TheWPhilosopher merc said themselves that they used all of Hamilton's softs during practice and the gap wasn't big enough for him to pit for mediums which would've given him a better shot. Even in a red flag scenario he was screwed but that merc was definitely faster

One big reason why we haven't seen the real Lewis Hamilton for a long time is likely due to the aftermath of the 2021 season. However, it looks like he's slowly making a comeback, and the new challenge from Ferrari might fire him up again. Many people call him washed, but those people have never experienced what he went through at the end of 2021. That kind of setback takes time to recover from.
Ninety-nine percent of drivers on the grid would have left the sport or never recovered from such an experience. It just shows how strong of a person he is. Many people say he will never win a world championship again, but he is probably the only person who can. It might not happen, but I'm sure he will give 110% to make it possible!

Idk why even Ferrari fell off from being easily the 2nd best team to getting outclassed many times by Mclaren and Merc. Hopefully they return to their original form once Hamilton arrives.

He was institutionally robbed. They don't want somebody with the color of his eyes to go beyond 7. That would be heresy. Tragic that this can still happen in the 21-st century. This incident changed F1 as a clean sport forever and the saga continued with the same team violating budget cap limits in 2021 to succeed in 2022. I only hope that SLH and Mercedes do not go onto this path.

Max required stewarding bias, a race win gifted when no race took place, and the race director to cheat and fix the final race for him to beat Lewis by 8.5 points. Take away those fraudulent advantages, and Lewis takes the title by 50.
And just in case anyone was wondering how I got to 50;
Spa: -12.5 for Max, -7.5 for Lewis. It was not a race. 5 point swing.
Brazil: -3 for Max. Deserved a penalty for lap 48. 8 point swing.
Jeddah: -18 for Max. Multiple penalty worthy things for Max here but none moreso than brake checking on lap 37, which should rightfully have seen Max shown the black flag. 26 point swing.
Abu Dhabi: -25 for Max, +7 for Lewis. Not only did Max deserve the black flag for Jeddah, he deserved a 1 race ban. He should not have been in attendance in this race.
Total: 58 point swing, leaving Lewis the WDC by 387 points to Maxs 337.
And today Lewis won again. My GOAT. Congrats champ, let’s go for the next one now ❤
The most monumental disgrace in F1. Lewis miles ahead of Max, safety car and result totally handed to Red Bull.
This moment truly made me feel for Hamilton. It's not as if Max had an outstanding race, constantly challenging Hamilton for the lead. Max and the pack were over 13 seconds behind, with three back markers between them and Hamilton. Red Bull didn’t pull off a brilliant strategy move either. According to the rule book, the race was effectively over once the crash occurred and the lap calculations were made. Did you notice that in the final shot, all you see are Hamilton and Max? The rules were blatantly broken to strip Hamilton of his hard-earned 13+ second lead, reducing it to nothing.
Hamilton has faced numerous championship-impacting issues throughout his career, yet he continues to rise above them. It’s a testament to his greatness. Despite others’ mistakes and rule-bending costing him here and there, he remains a true champion. In our hearts, we know he has broken every F1 record. Frankly, in my mind, he holds nine championships, if not for the sheer craziness he endures as the first-generation minority F1 racer.

@@nuckels188 Lewis was leading, safety car deployed right as he passes pit entry. Max pits fresh softs. 2nd last lap, Masi lets lapped cars between Lewis and Max through but not all lapped cars. Pulls safety car in for last lap.
To Lewis, this was number 8, To Max, this was whether or not he'll make anything of his career
I can't remember who but someone said something like "each year there has to be a first but only a few of them are world champions" and I think this video shows that Lewis is clearly one of the few real champions. Most of the other drivers including Max would still be crying about this and saying in every media they were robbed but Lewis never did so. Huge respect for him, he's a true World Champion

Lewis may have forgiven this travesty, i don’t think i will ever do so. This is the day i lost respect for the whole F1 staff. The commentators talking as if they don’t see the robbery that jus happened. They covered it up acting as if its a normal thing. Other teams said nothing. 40 lap hards vs 2 lap softs. Softs a second a lap faster and can brake 50 feet later. If Lewis defends harder he locks up and gets beat out of the exit.

People say move on or whatever but as a hamilton fan it’s very hard to move on. I spent an entire 9 months watching almost every session (all qualy and races) the drama, the crashes, the back and forth a and the main reason I can’t get over it is because it was literally to break the record and likely cement himself as the goat in 80 percent of peoples eyes most likely. Got robbed of that moment by people literally changing rules. I like to use this analogy for those that don’t understand it “ it’s basically like adding an extra round to a boxing fight that was meant to go 12 rounds and the guy that won all 12 rounds gets knocked out in the 13th round they added for no reason

Barely a day has passed since without this popping into my head at least once. Despite being the victim of such an injustice, the way Lewis and his dad handled themselves in the aftermath is something they can be proud of.
The FIA know they did wrong in the way they systematically closed all of the "loopholes" which allowed that to happen and fired the person in charge at the time. I just wish they'd have had the balls to hand the trophy to the correct person in the end.

Not a max or Lewis fan, following F1 since my childhood days in the 50s, have hundreds of races video recorded, attended a number of races, I have great respect for Lewis , but that race was soooo wrong, obvious to me that Red Bull knew that the others would be allowed to unlap themselves, otherwise Red Bull wouldn’t leave second place and knowingly return to the track in seventh place ,Mercedes obviously didn’t know as the team told lewis that he would lose track position

@@quigglyz there was no strategy fuck up. You're first and Max is second, NO ONE would ever give away the 1st position when there is only 1 lap remaining, AND THAT IS IF the race does ever restart. No one knew if the FIA would allow the end of the race or it would end under safety car. That is another thing that happened, it should've ended under safety car as per the regulation, the FIA have even acknowledged that.
No one in their right mind would simply say "ah yes, take the first place in the race, and then we'll cross our fingers that the race restarts AND that we're able to get in front of you within 1 lap". No one ever would do that, that is why Mercedes didn't make Hamilton pit for softs.
The thing that saved Red Bull and got Verstappen the championship, aside from the poor management from the FIA which never should've happened was Sergio Perez' defense.

Any F1 fan knows that this was wrong. Had the roles been reversed Max's tantrum and online abuse would have killed F1 I think. Lewis being gracious almost hurt it here. I wish he had been a bit more vocal and just said it was a robbery. But he is a better man than I would've been. Just a complete and utter disgrace, no other word for it. And this year will be remembered for this rather than the good racing earlier in the season.

The whole season Karen Horner pressuring FIA to jump through hoops. The RB punishment for overspending was BS, just a clean way to pay FIA their bribe money.
Lewis got robbed of that championship. The way the race was manipulated during the safety car literally gave the race to Verstappen. 1st saying lapped car's could not pass. Mercedes didn't pit based on that information. Then only allowing the lapped cars between Lewis and Max to go around. They didn't pit Lewis based on the 1st message. The message that lapped cars could not go around the safety car. That allowed Red Bull to pit, get fresh tires and rejoin the race without losing a position. Essentially giving Max a clear advantage on the restart. I wonder how big that check was from Red Bull to Massa? Come on folks. Lewis had a huge lead in that race and if he was on fresh tires would have driven away from Max on the restart.
Mercedes threw it away, they should have pitted. At worst, reversed positions. At best, equal tyres. Blame Mercedes.
Don't just look at this race. Also look at the Monaco disaster, the Hungary stupidity, the Baku mistake.. Max and RB made less mistakes.
The entire season was manipulated in Lewis’ favor. He was nowhere near good enough in 2021.

Safety car came out in lap 53 with Hamilton begging to be pitted and the team telling him to stay out, while Verstappen did pit. Verstappen caught up to the lapped cars between them in lap 54, which were also right behind Hamilton and the safety car. The announcement "lapped cars will not be allowed to unlap" came in lap 55. Had Hamilton pitted at that point, he would've come out way behind Verstappen and also behind Sainz, Bottas, the AlphaTauris and possibly others. Stop making up such absolutely ridiculous story lines just because you can't cope with the fact that your favorite team cost your favorite driver the world championship.

Throughout the season, Merc had more decisions go their way, either directly or indirectly. The lenient penalties they gave Merc for wiping out the Redbulls were absurd. The decisions made in AD on the final laps favored RB and Max but remained within the rules. Remember, this was just 1/22 races
