I read the book in preparation for the movie and that's the only thing this movie gave me. They took a character driven book and said let's do none of that.
I was hopeful with this movie because the premise was so interesting. Ultimately, that was misguided because it doesn’t have anything else other than the premise. It’s a good example of why I don’t support nepotism
After seeing this movie me and my partner came up with the only redeeming optics it could be seen through: (!spoiler but not really!) the perception of colonialism in western studies. 🙌🏻 Do with that what you will 😅
