Wait, it's Shyamalan's daughter who directed this movie?!
What a twist!
I see what you did there, Robot Chicken reference! 😁
She has the same terrible tendencies unfortunately as her father.
The poster for the movie is a straight rip off of Silence of the Lambs.
The real twist his daughter made a movie
I remember being floored by the twist ending of The Sixth Sense, that the guy in the bad hair piece, that was Bruce Willis the whole time!!! Mind blowing!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes Bruce Willis was the ghost the whole time. 😁
@@nicoleackerman205 Wait, he was a ghost 👻?!?! I really need to rematch that movie!!!
@@nicoleackerman205 ‘I see
Wig wearing people’
Mac and Charlie write a movie!
In Arnold's voice: Come inside, if you want to live!
They missed a trick with that yellow parrot!?! They could've just left the bird in the room for them to watch and then they can all change into the bird and they all fly off! the end😂
If he could just get away from the whole twist ending gimmick he might be able to make another good movie
But it wouldn't be a Shyamalan movie, and I probably wouldn't watch it
You wouldn't watch a person's movie because theres no twist in it? 😂 are you a child?@surelychordophonic
@@surelychordophonic the problem is that he keeps trying to recreate the Sixth Sense which he will NEVER be able to top. Not only was it a great script with great acting but you didn’t see that there was a twist coming and that’s what made it so good. What good is a twist ending if you know there is gonna be a twist ending?
The book has twists baked into it, I have yet to watch the movie, but it seems like the structure is the same as the book, though they screwed with the lore.
@@cmdrvarna wasnt a twist ending in Signs and that was a great movie
They need to give real creative writers, directors, and actors a chance im tired of off spring elites thinking they have talent ...its also spreading to sports. These people always get exposed
Dakota Fanning was great in The Alienist alongside Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans, and Brian Geraghty. Shame it only got two seasons and not more. I usually like her acting in grittier projects.
There are only two seasons because it based on a novel and the writer wrote only two books of them since the 80s. I don't why he didn't continue with the story. Don't like the end of season two, I think it just lame for a brilliant doctor to left everything that he worked for his whole life to improve his patients' mental health to be with a woman that he just met. And I'm agree with you she was so good in that series.
Watch The Hole in The Ground... it did this whole thing so much better
I remember The Hole in the Ground and The Hallow. Two very good suspenseful movies.
I want a refund fell asleep and walked out in the middle of the movie.
Not one shotgun on the entire farm in Signs. Still a really good one
I was hoping i'd disagree with Alan and Chris but the film is fairly meh. Its competantly directed so I have no real complaints about Ishana Night Shyamalan as a director. Its just a blah story, there is a lot of unnecessary dialog where the film seems absolutely terrified that you might not know what a character is thinking. That irritated me more than anything. Theres some set up but for our creatures with Mina playing pretend and the bird but it just feels forced. Just watch the Hallow its a better play on the subject matter.
I remember The Hallow. Great creature movie with a lot of suspense.
I worked out the plot twist for 6th Sense from an advert for it that they played on the radio, so I watched it the first time the way everyone else watched it the second time.
My friend said "there's a twist" in the parking lot before we entered. Before we stepped out, I said, "Either the kid is a ghost or Willis is."
Oooo it's based on a book? Off I go to find the book! I am a massive Shyamalan fan, but I think we all know that just because a celebrity's kid gets a chance doesn't mean they have talent.
Eh... you're right, but at least a director's kid grew up around the business, and most likely just absorbed some kind of interest in movies and storytelling from being close to it. What I'm saying is that it could be worse... considering the recent trend of studios throwing money at rando activist types who don't have the slightest interest in what they're making beyond using it as a platform for their own spiteful reasons or as a personal therapy session.
Ishana Shyamalan wrote the screenplay based on A.M. Shine's novel. So yes, a woman wrote it.
Ready for a new book, thanks for the recommend! Won't watch the movie though.
i actually enjoyed it as a Friday movie night out, i never even watched the trailer
I thought Dakota Fanning in the thumb was the chick that played Torvi on 'Vikings'.
Are we all just going to ignore Chris Gore's fart at 0:03?
😂
LOL his timing was off, he was trying squeeze it out before the music clicked off.
Thank you
🎵 Shyama-lamma-ding-dong🎵
was hoping on a Watchers Corey Haim 90's remake....dang
Ive always liked Dakota fanning. I’ll watch this one day.
I haven't seen this, but modern action/horror/sci-fi movies with female protagonists in my opinion should to be more Furiosa, Prey, Watcher, and The Invisible Man and less The Old Guard, Birds of Prey, Captain Marvel, Don't Worry Darling, and Terminator: Dark Fate if that makes sense.
Idk, it but sounds like a re-packaged "The Village".
I didn't care for Signs. Once it was revealed, I couldn't get over how stupid the aliens were
At least no one talked to a fake house plant right?
I have to admit, I really liked _The Happening_
This was quite the mixed bag for me. I really liked the first two acts, I thought the mystery and thrills were very engaging. Unfortunately the 3rd act really went down hill for me. The reveal and “twist” just didn’t work for me. Great review
I recommend that the two of you each install a different icon that comes on your displays when the other wants to comment. Your passion can be jarring when you talk over each other.
That 'sigh' at the very beginning from Alan was very telling of how this review would go. Lol.
NO MERCY Alan!
The director isn't Irish. Isn't this cultural appropriation? Just trying to apply the rules du jour.
what I learn from coward bullies are they don't play with their own rules, it's just to bully losers, if they got owned by their own rules it's "doesn't work like that"
she is female and diverse, she can do what she wants
I just came back from watching this at the theater. 6/19/24. I’d give it:
3 out of 10. Trash movie. And so many questions!
First, the parrot. who ordered the parrot, and why? The old woman/alien?
Second, the old woman/alien. If she’s ordering parrots that means she has: a working telephone and/or internet, a credit card, meaning she has a bank account, and she has cash deposits. But you say: aha, she took over the account of the real old lady. But if it’s public knowledge that the real old lady passed away from blood cancer that means her accounts are closed. Funds probably given to next of kin. So where is this woman/alien getting cash, bank accounts, credit cards, internet access, etc to be ordering freakin’ parrots?
Third. What pet store is going to be sending their employees a hundred miles away to deliver some parrot? Even if the store agreed they’d be charging hundreds of dollars just for the delivery. But more likely if old women/aliens call the store to order a parrot they’d just tell her to come to the store to pick it up, they don’t do no parrot home deliveries.
Fourth. If the old woman/alien is ordering parrot deliveries then that means she’s intentionally luring people into the trap zone. Why? In the hopes that eventually one of the unskilled minimum wage workers that comes over is eventually going to figure out a way out of the trap zone? And didn’t they say the other woman (the black girl) that was there was supposed to be some kind of uni professor? Probably gender studies professor, no wonder she was useless in trying to figure out anything. And she couldn’t even figure out that she’s supposed to grieve over her husband’s death, she didn’t even shed a tear for him!
So much more to say in the next post.
Fifth. Dakota. He car breaks down and like a fool she walks into the forest beyond visual range of her car and immediately gets lost. And we know the old woman/alien breaks her car because a minute after she steps out of her car Dakota catcher her running away. Which means the aliens have the power to block GPS signals, crash smartphones, and somehow break car engines.
Sixth. Dakota has no sixth sense. She arrives at the bunker and hardly asks any questions a normal human would be asking IMMEDIATELY upon arrival. Who are you people? What are your names? How did you get here? Where did you come from? what things have you done to escape? And later I’d be asking even more questions. How are you even alive just by literally eating crow every single day? Where on earth do you get water if there are no rivers nearby nor is there a faucet in the bunker? How do take showers and wash your clothes? Where is the toilet paper?
Seventh. They’re all idiots. They’ve been there for MONTHS. Yet no one thought about investigating the very bunker in which they live? Meaning… how is it that none of them ever thought of moving the carpet? The sheet metal cover they found under the carpet would clearly feel different than the rest of the concrete floor. The metal is thin, they even bent it! Had even one of them investigated they would’ve found the professor’s base underneath months ago. What a bunch of retards.
The old woman/alien bosses people around and no one questions her? Hey why are you ordering us around?who named you leader? How do you know about these rules from the other aliens? When, where, how? From whom? etc etc
edit: missed one
Here's a list of his movies:

3. **The Sixth Sense** (1999)
4. **Unbreakable** (2000)
5. **Signs** (2002)
6. **The Village** (2004)
7. **Lady in the Water** (2006)

15. **Old** (2021)
16. **Knock at the Cabin** (2023)
Haven't seen them all, but the ones I've seen are either very good or very bad. I wonder why that is...
What about Devil (2010)?
@@nighthawk7050 huh missed that one. thanks!
I didn’t realize After Earfff was his
Sounds a little like "The Tooth Fairy".
One of the main reasons I stopped watching horror movies is that they often have feminist messages, so thank you very much for warning us about that, because that's a deal breaker for me. It's so annoying when you try to immerse yourself into a story, only to realize that you were watching propaganda the whole time.
Describing this plot sounds like one of those SNL movie parodies 🤮
I just read the book, in preparation for the movie. The structure sounds very much like that of the book, so it might not be her fault? From what I saw in the trailer, they did change a ton of the lore and race swapped the ginger character again though. Sigh.
The lady & I snuck off last night to see this (outta town & wanted to checkout a new theatre) and it was horrendously bad. Felt like a poor CW show.
For the record, we had already seen BadBoys at 4D premiere thing, so out options and times kind of lead us to Watchers. Anyway, I actually asked the theatre manager for a refund...in a nice way. I had never done that
there was no need for the reveal then a twist. if the reveal and the twist was held until the last 10 to 15 mins of the film it would have been cool.
holy crap the wall is real... how old is she?
If the Shymalan's name is attached to a movie, I don't care. The MOJO is gone, years ago.
M Knight has made ONE great film... that's IT.
Sixth Sense and Unbreakable are both good. I liked Knock at the Cabin but it wasn't everyone's cup of tea.
Signs was fun!
He has made a couple of great movies and some good or decent movies. I'm not a M Knight fanboy but give the guy some credit. I hated The Village but a least he was trying something different unlike most directors in recent years that just s@@@ out the same exact movies.
Watched it today. It was OK. It was a good first effort by the director, for sure. Just needs a better story abd maybe make sure your actors are not flat. But overall, it was mid.
I really enjoyed the book and plan on seeing the movie soon. The complaints you guys have about the movie seem to be exactly how the book was and may have had nothing to do with Ishana. But it also sounds like Ishana may have slightly changed the ending when adapting the book.......
Just want to say to many in the comments, nepotism is not a NEW thing, in Hollywood or otherwise. It's just way more obvious these days.
(...and no, I do not like it either.)
Heck, I've seen nepotism in local Austin, TX music and arts since I was a kid.
Hollywood has gone from
merit based employment to all kinds of other ways…including nepotism.
Until Hollywood reforms publicly I'll never spend another $ on anything with a female protagonist! Period!
Its just not worth it in any sense!
Just left the theater 15 minutes ago. Good movie, solid B. Not at all the story I thought it would be. I like the direction as well.
Ishana shamalalalan
Not great. Solid idea squandered in typical Shyamalan fashion. Twists pretty much revealed the second there was any set up and really insulted the audience moving into the third act.
I'd recommend bc it was done fine, but if you've seen a lot of horror movies, this is a wasted opportunity with no surprises.
At this stage of her career Dakota Fanning should be doing better then this and Gwyneth Paltrow's role in a Talented Mr. Ripley remake. The last great thing she did was The Alienist. Her sister gets better/edgier roles.
I don't think "they" were supposed to be scary in the end
Watch the Xbox showcase hope you like being a female character.
I HATE nepotism
from the man that destroyed the Avatar The Last Air Bemder, watch his offspring destroy the source material of a book
M. Night turned a clever story into a cheap, story gimmick used over and over again. Make it stop.
The problem isn’t nepotism it’s lack of talent.
It looked really corny in the trailer, and I didn't like the yellow cinematography in that house.
She makes a stinker on her first outing and will continue to make more bad films. Her and her dad will destroy EVERY book they come across… 😅
The movie wasn't that bad. Not every female centric movie is necessarily "woke". I think we over use that term sometimes. I will say this, the CGI was a little off for me.
Crap movie. I hated it.
m.night sham-a-lam
shyamalan made one ok movie and has been riding that wave with garbage ever since. i expect his nepo baby to do worse.
I thought it was spooky and atmospheric. It's hard to define, I really enjoyed it, and will be watching it again this week. Jimmy Lee in Chicago
Did the creatures look really badly done? I'm passing if they did.
@@Phantoma3 Not in my opinion. They were ghastly looking, and even though CGI, very well done.
So sick of the female protagonist, it’s so tired and predictable. I am not sexist, just bored
Well that is a sexist comment as you’re judging the characters based on sex and not well the character
It is like me saying I am sick of male protagonists
@@rupertsmith5815 LOL, it’s not sexist if it’s an observation
@@TheAsiandramafreak Actually it is for the reason I explained
@@rupertsmith5815 don’t care
@@TheAsiandramafreak so you replied
Gore is wrong here. This is one of Shamalans better films of the last two decades 😊
This movie made 0 fucking sense and it was pointless as fuck, and not to mention that it was pg13 😂😂😂
“Rabbit, rabbit, treat’em good, lucky, lucky, knock on wood, yogi berra, tug mcgraw, start’er up..kumbaya.”
-Think Big
What the heck do you mean woke feminism?
Obviously I don’t watch this channel and I probably won’t in the future as it seems a misogynistic comment. I have a Lit BA and I don’t understand how this is woke when it doesn’t seem to further any kind of political opinion or social standing. I don’t want to spoil it, but I don’t understand how dichotomy of good and evil is anything new, woke, or progressive when it has been something written about since pre-Chaucer, pre- Milton
If you don’t want to watch female led movies, don’t watch movies with a female protagonist. There are many many movies with male protagonists
"The book must have been popular for a reason."
Sure. But that reason isn't necessarily "because it was good."
Have you seen the garbage women read? Trash romance and victim tropes.
It's all fake!
Lame!!!!
It’s pride month, I don’t care who the director’s dad is as long as someone is gay here
Congrats boys! You almost made it 7 minutes without using the word woke!
Nepo movie is an actual lame way to critiqie this movie. I usually agree wjtj FT but this movie is better than the village, and cabin in the woods. Especially if you like fantasy elements. Its not woke or feminist, coming from someone who hates those things.
FT is hardcore wrong. 7/10 at least. Recommended
Not one shotgun on the entire farm in Signs. Still a really good one
