As a Professional Musician since before The Monkees came into our lives, this was very much like watching a documentary of our entire generations movement through the years. So many of us are gone now, and Micky is the only Monkee left. I hope that everyone who sees this will realize just how quickly it all passes by, and make the Most of Every Minute, because there are only so many of them, and when they're gone, so are we.

So overdue to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Monkees were more important to entertainment than anyone knew at the beginning. Their longevity over generations says it all.

I'm also 65 years old. I have loved the Monkees since 1966 I would watch their TV show every Monday night on NBC.
I have all of their records, vinyl and CD. I have the TV show on DVD, and some other Monkee videos.
I was saddened when Davy Jones passed away (December 30, 1945--February 29, 2012). But I continued to play their records and CDS. I was saddened again when Peter Tork passed away (February 13, 1942--February 21, 2019).
All the Monkee videos You Tube shows always bring back memories.

September 26, 1966 - the date of the original airing of the 3rd episode of the Monkees. It was also my 10th birthday. To me, that made me one member of the show's original target audience. Loved them then, still do. My favorite member was always Peter and over the past 53 years or so, I had the chance to meet him a handful of times. Losing him earlier this year was truly a sad occasion.

This was a group who knocked the Beatles out of the top spot on the chart at one point during the 60s run. Not only did they do that, but they outsold many of the legendary artists of that time who are in the RHOF. The Monkees represent the culture, vibe, and history of one of the most influential decades of our time as much as any other group of iconic musical acts of the 60s. The intrinsic value of their medioric rise to become a pop culture phenom is in itself enough for them to garner admission. The fact that they had chart topping hits is the bonus that cements it. They did something no one has ever done before. They went from being manufactured tv story about a group to becoming a real chart topping act. Indeed and I say it again, pop culture icons. Not only is the tv show one of our classic gems, but their music still lives as a treasure to all who continue enjoy the nastalgia of the decade of change which is the 60s. Mickey, Mike, Davy and Peter. Four guys who for a half an hour every week entertained us with comedy and their voices. Four guys who became more than what was expected. Four musician/actors who became icons. Beloved by all, including the Beatles who gave their seal of approval long ago. That alone should say it all. As for the RHOF, they only recently admitted the GoGo's. Like them or not the significance of the first all female self contained bands ommission by the RHOF for so long tells you all you need to know. It's a total disgrace and a travesty that they have not been admitted yet. And now there is only one left. Let's pray that the one surviving member will be able to experience what his comrades never did and that he will get to carry the tourch lighting the way for the other 3 to see the honor, love and respect by an industry that they helped to make strong...

Oh what a wonderful walk down memory lane!! I was a teenager when they hit the small screen!! 😊 Instant big Davy crush!! Never missed a episode!! They came to my town and saw them in concert!!! It was unreal for a teenager to see them in person!! 🤗 All these years it is absolutely disgusting that they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!! That needs to change immediately!! 😔 It's amazing how fast time flies!! I'm an old woman now and we have lost three of them!!! 😢💔

Loved The Monkees and their music more than The Beatles - which kind of made me an outcast & renegade among my friends from childhood through the decades. I was madly in love with one or another - Davy the adorable one whose sole picture hung on my mirror with pics of the group when I was a kid, Micky - the funny one whose voice was fabulous, Peter - the cute, sweet one who in later years I learned how talented and funny he really was, and Mike - whose hat I thought was ridiculous, but he made up for it with his smooth voice & that wink of his as he played that would make me melt. It's too bad I never got to see them play in concert. I was so sad & cried when Davy died. However, I was barely inconsolable after Peter passed. May they both be at peace.
Ty for this video. It brought back many happy memories, and I enjoyed seeing snippets of them in later years. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm glad I got a chance to see Davy perform live once. He was in Addison, TX performing in an outdoor public concert Memorial Day weekend 2006 when I saw him. I remember most that he performed "Daydream Believer" (probably his finale) and "Girl", which he sang for "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" (his quote) on THE BRADY BUNCH. RIP, Davy & Peter.

I was besotted with Micky. I still think he's incredible. I was a kid in the 60s when I first started loving the Monkees. As I've gotten older, I realize I am more in tune personality wise with Michael Nesmith, but Micky is still my fave. After the death of Peter, I have been watching all the old episodes of the Monkees and interviews with them. I'm obsessed all over again. RIP Davy and Peter. Watching the reunion clips is all good . Something tells me the guys made more money the 2nd time around . This reunion deal for so many bands from the 60's & 70's era has lasted far longer then their original run . The Eagles are the poster band for that .With the Monkees they came along at the right time when there was so much change happening in the country . If you grew up in the 1960's we all lived through it . After all this has been called the most turbulent decade . That half hour tv show took us away from some of that making the magic of this group named the Monkees . It was fun great music and could have only happened in the 60's .

I don't think I ever saw the Pizza Hut commercial with Ringo and Davy, Micky, and Peter. That was hilarious. 1986 should include the reunion of all 4 at the Greek Theater in LA - THE high point that year! Ending this compilation with Zilch was great - they were clearly having fun together.

I will never forget the Monkees. It's almost like I grew up with them. They definitely created some seriously fond memories for all of us Baby Boomers. RIP Davy, Peter and now Mike...🥰

This is a very in-depth doco & I'm sure Davy, Peter & even Mike would still be touring somewhere doing their thing. It's very bittersweet to watch tho as we see them thru their musical journey & to see what happened to each one of them. God love U Davy, U still had it & even your dance moves were the same. We'll never forget any of these guys & how great they became even tho they began as a 'manufactured' group. Who would have thought they'd defy their creators & critics to play for real & sell millions.

I've seen The Monkees' pilot episode several times on TV, often as part of The Screen Gems Network, but I'm trying to remember whether they included the original theme song and closing credits; not 100 percent sure. But I do remember first seeing them on Saturday mornings on CBS, then the reruns in syndication. Second-generation fan.
I also want to say thanks, Fred, for including some material from the Big Glee archives. Another great source of nostalgic enjoyment; back when I had access to a computer and printer, one of my hobbies was finding pics on Google/Bing Images that I liked and printing them out. I've got several from Big Glee in my collection, many of the fun one- or two-page features from DC Comics, or articles on Saturday morning TV series. It kept me out of trouble(lol).

I"ve become a little obsessed with watching their history lately. I related to that show and Davey because I'm a small guy like he was, and because they had electric guitars on TV playing rock music. Its like now they are s symbol of the passing of the Baby Boomers. I'll be 72 in March and it just feels like the end our story is fast approaching with the death of Mike Nesmith. They were all unique and power hitters, they made themselves that went far past the TV show, and gave us so much love and music. Mickey is the last one, very sad.....

When I first tried to post this about 6 months ago, it was getting rejected by TH-cam due to copyrighted content. At the time I didn't know why but thought it was perhaps because of that song, so I replaced that clip. Turns out wasn't that song. Though that as then, this is now, I posted the re-edited video as is.
