  • All 4 Monkees reunited for an historic concert on November 20th 1996 at the Billboard Live in LA.
This mini concert featured hits as well as tracks from the new album Justus. Intimate, rocking and way cool, this is a great little concert presented in it's entirety.

Loved them together. I am so glad Mike realized before he died they were no joke. They were respected and loved. Mickey is the only one left as of 4 25 2023. The Monkees stood for love creativity essence and spirit. Gods Blessings to you all.

Mick is one of the most iconic voices in history. Peter is such a complete and acomplished musician. David and Mike made their presences wonderfully. The best live performance by the Monkees. There was such good energy among them by that time. Then, things started to fall apart. I am glad they made this appearence. What a band!

Just what I was going to say. They really rocked. Unbelievable. They certainly were no fabricated band that night.

Mickey Dolenz has an almost identical voice to that of Paul McCartney ...... listen to McCartney harmonizing on "Dr. Robert," "If I Fell," and on the final line of "Nowhere Man." Listen to Dolenz harmonize at the ends of "Last Train to Clarksville," and "I'm a Believer."

They proved that they were great no matter how many years since the Monkees series! I will always love the Monkees. They rocked when the other band groups faded away. Broke my heart when Davy passed away, but he will live forever in our hearts.

One thing I've appreciated about the Monkees is how they can keep up with the times; they're not stuck in the sixties. Thanks for posting this. Already in my favorites.

It's hard to believe that Micky was recruited and learned drumming on scene nearly 50 years ago, and become the prolific drummer at last. He has quite stong timing and sing it at the same time. He's really kick!
For Mike and Pete, not much surpirsing about them. They were already accomplished musicain back then.
For Dave, yes he is the forever monkee and memorable frontman.

    • @larrystroh233
      @larrystroh233 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mickey is a guitarist first.
For the TV show someone needed to play the drums.
Peter and Mike refused to give up their guitars.
Davy was too short to sit behind the drums.
Mickey got the role of the drummer.
The Monkees are very talented and versatile

The live version of Oh What A Night came out particularly good!
The live version of Admiral Mike comes out sounding a little more like a '60's psychedelic song than it does on the record. Heavy, man!
I have always been annoyed at Rhino's total failure to release any live recordings from this era.
    Thanks so much for sharing!!
Really wish I could have been present at one of the live shows with all four.
I did get to see them live in Atlanta in 1986, and among the solo concerts I was privileged to attend I got to see Mike Nesmith. So I did get to see all four Monkees ultimately, just not on the same stage at the same time.

Actually they all could play from the very start, but probably weren't fully ready to record all of the first releases without having a enough time to get in sync, work out how they fit together, plus lot of rehearsal time to bring them up to speed. If they weren't doing a tv show at the same time, they probably could've gotten there pretty fast.

5:30 Very cool to see them play Regional Girl live. No doubts about being a real band.

Good show. Only complaint: Michael should've kept CIRCLE SKY as originally performed, meaning with only his vocal. The high-pitched backing (Micky, presumably) doesn't fit and sounds "off" at times. Not sure why he elected to take a different approach on JUSTUS.

Davy actually taught him a few things in the very beginning. The would have put in as the drummer but didn't because he was too short and disappeared. Micky became so good through lots of practice. He is awesome.
