    Sensei Hodge started teaching Ultimate Chuks, which is a specialized white to black belt nunchaku curriculum with freestyle techniques, kata(s), and sparring nunchakus, back in 2005. Since then, he has created a global online distance training program and works with students as they earn rank and get guided support from him along the way.

    Thank you sir for the upload! I used to train a lot of ju jutsu and did some nunchucks in my spare time, picked up a pair today and want to get back into them, man oh man I predict a lot of hitting my own ribs and elbows with these things though!

    I have several pairs of the rattan chucks. They are fast, lightweight, but don't really inflict that much damage. I have a custom made pair that have a really nice ballbearing system and they are Cocobolo hard wood. Not the fastest but you will get a better workout with mine than with the rattan. They are so hard and could really crack some skull if needed! I have about 15 different pairs in my collection: Mini chucks, Oak, aluminum, collapsable, many colors and shapes. Thanks for sharing the video, It's always nice to learn new things and new tricks. I'm currently teaching one of my students Nunchakus who is completely blind. He's actually doing very well for someone that can't see. Takes your teaching skills to a whole new level.

    Regarding the switch overs, it should be said that the way women are able to do it will depend on which life stage they are in. Young women should be told that their anatomy will start dropping around age 40, and dropping more later, making the move easier as they age.

      Hi Reid, Yes, a simple padded nunchaku like this - www.amazon.com/Martial-Nunchucks-Nunchaku-Dragon-Pattern/dp/B01DR2XVU8/ - will work fine. A little higher quality is the high density foam one - www.centurymartialarts.com/nunchaku/century-round-dense-foam-nunchaku-yelblk . These will keep you safe as you start your nunchakus training.

    Hi, I've just bought a set of foam nunchucks from Amazon...I used to practice a little when I was about 15. I am now 52.( so pretty much a newbe again )
    I'm very short 4ft 11in and very round. Basically I want to practice with them to help me lose weight and tone my upper arms and shoulders. (with dieting of course).
    I was wondering, and would like an honest answer? Am I kidding myself? Am I too old?
    Thanks
    Liz

    • @UltimateTraining
      @UltimateTraining  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Liz, You're definitely not kidding yourself, you're on the right track. First, foam nunchakus are definitely safer, but you will need to train for a good 45 minutes to an hours for a nice cardio workout, this will be a good way to ease into the toning as well. Once you feel pretty good with this, you'll want to get a bamboo chain nunchakus, or something like this, made of wood. More weight will help you tone much faster. I do have a course you might want to consider. Or, couple this with shotokan or bo training. I recommend you getting a set and guided course, or some way to stay on track, and consistently improving each week. If not, this could fizzle our fast, and the goal you have could fall by the wayside. I'm here for you if you need me!

    I would love to practice this. I tried it out in my Kung Fu class years ago. I recently thought I would relearn the forms I learned. Turns out it is a felony to possess wooden sticks with a rope attaching them. So I skipped these dangerous devices and decided to get a AR-15 instead since it is way more legal and safe (sarcasm.) On a serious note how do I get them as someone who wants to brush up on my skills?

    • @UltimateTraining
      @UltimateTraining  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      How would you buy a pair of nunchakus? Most of the time, you can buy online and have them shipped to you, or make them yourself. But, yes, there are local weapon laws you need to be aware of, especially for transporting them or carrying them in public.

    • @emceeunderdogrising
      @emceeunderdogrising 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In California you can't even purchase them. You can essentially. But the websites say it will not make it to your doorstep. I did actually find a video on how to make them. Which was interesting. I just don't like the law. It seems more anti Chinese culture than a way to protect citizens from dangerous weapons.

    • @strikingtiger-filipinomart5043
      @strikingtiger-filipinomart5043 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I lived In California, I used to get them shipped to me all the time but then again I used to sell martial arts supplies online. They are illegal in CA. except for the foam practice ones. It's not like your going to kill anyone with the foam ones right. Maybe smack a couple of flying bugs or to. So here's the deal...when I lived in CA. I've been practising with them since I was a kid but just get yourself a pair of wooden ones but don't get caught walking in the street with them. workout with them inside your house, garage or backyard.

    • @ZaNoN1818
      @ZaNoN1818 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@logan-pl2wf I can see that, but the increase in range makes up for that, specially in combat. I used to fight with nunchakus (Dutch combat rules with foam ones) and you'd lose 100% of the time if you had less range.
