There are always people who put a thumbs down. Some do it just for attention. Eg if you look at the google ratings for Chichen itzá, the bad ratings are usually for people looking for attention and making jokes about pizzas. As of now this video has like 70 thumbs down and thousands of thumbs up, so most people (including me) agree that this is a great instructional video (that I’ll likely watch many times0
Thank you for this video Guro/Sensei... I always wanted to learn Kali because it's practical, effective and I'm a Filipino. Basics are a good thing to start with to build a strong foundation... please keep teaching us online... especially the weak and the bullied insignificant commoner like me. God bless you Guro/Sensei.
Thank you so much! I'm so sad that I don't have the opportunity to spar with a partner bc I don't go to martial arts school but my fighting spirit is hungry and I have to feed it somehow :)
!EXCELLENT VIDEO!... Liked & Subbed! I'm 70 Y.O. but still an active guy. In my yunger years I studied Taekwondo, but this Filipino Martial Arts form HAS REALLY caught my eye and attention! But: 1. I don't know if @ my age is too late to start learning it, and 2. I live in the Desert cities {Palm Desert} in Southern CA. and there are no Arnis, Kali, Balintawak Academies here; and although I've seen Great Teachers {Guru Masters} like GM Bobby Taboada, and this Young Master Mr. Anastacio; I don't know if it's possible to learn it ONLY by watching TH-cam Videos, and without a Hands On Teacher and Training Partner. Shalom.
Mark, Enjoyed your solo kali video since don't have access to a dojo or partner, etc. Its a good practical video ! Looking forward to try your exercises !!! Feels like UNDERSTANDING relationship with your stick, body mechanics, SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS, etc. Please consider doing more solo type videos again. Thanks.
*****awesome tutorial and high quality approach to fitness****** hope you are being appropriately compensated within reason for this valuable training content have a good summer !!!
I found my old kit from my younger days about 4 hours ago and found your channel like now! I need to start training again because that isn't just a coincidence it's a calling.
I am 90% Filipino and my mom just told me about Kali today and I am very very interested in it! My mom has one in her room so I might to try to learn it!!!
Started training in Kali (at a JKD/Inosanto lineage) and it's been eye opening in terms of the practicality (disarms, defanging the snake, footwork, etc). Really excited to try out these drills you've shared! Awesome content, Mark!
I trained at Kali academy in Whittier California. Such a great place to train. Sifu bud learned from Dan Inosanto. What a lineage! I should be another set of Kali sticks
Can you make one specifically for twirling..? I've never been able to find any on that besides "how to twirl a pencil"; and I can never figure out if it's supposed to leave your hand as you twirl or if it stays in your grip the whole time..
By doing the wrist twists too much you also end up over tensing the tendons in the arm. It's a great way to get tennis elbow. Realistically going through twirling strikes slowly but repetitively is a safer way to develop the dexterity and endurance needed without increasing the risk of injury
Great video! Thank you. Do you also have a video for 2 sticks or should i practice mirroring the other side? I imagine that at some point they'd have to intersect like an egg beater.
Just found Kali Sticks in our storage room which my mother use to discipline us when I was a kid, lol. Thought could learn some Kali during this pandemic. Thanks for this video, Godbless and stay safe ❤
hi my name is wilfred, I used to do this when I was 17 years old in Cebu City. But now im 75, I live here in the U.S. and I kind of forgot this whole thing in the garuti.. Now i your program Im interest in learning back again. But my muscle is so rigid now, I cannot do the witic. Would you do the witic very slow so i can see how you do it. Thank you very much.
A sticks length should meet the top of your hip from the ground.. this is sword length and strengthens your wrist far better.. as well as strengthening all other aspect of training… and transition to sword is far easier… Master Drake
Miss training and I found my Kali sticks in drawer.. so I'm here.. Thank you very much really enjoyed this and Subscribed.. Peace
I truly don't understand the thumbs down. This is pure gold video

Same bro!
You can try the file of tires and try strike with it 2-3mins straight then rest for 1 min. 3 rounds is enough 😊👍.
Nicely done thanks for sharing 👍👍
