This video has been a long time coming and one that I worked really hard on, I would greatly appreciate if yall who liked the video please like, share all around to those who say that a Superman game is impossible. I invite all discussions on this.
Im completely fine with a superman game being confined to a single city. I like how in the superman game for xbox 360, superman didnt really have a health bar but the city of metropolis did. So even though enemies didnt do any damage to you, they still needed to be stopped so the city wouldn't be destroyed.
I don’t think Superman would be too hard to make into a game. Characters like Batman and Spider-Man to me always seemed impossible to make when I was younger but here they are. Superman is the most important superhero of all time regardless of who your favourite superhero is. Your pitch is amazing and I love how Darkseid is a main villain. I think it would be cool in your game if Lex Luthor could occasionally help you in combat with his power suit he wore in Lego DC Super Villains and the Rebirth run. Superman has so many cool outfits so I’d like to see his 1939 Suit, Man Of Steel Suit, Kingdom Come Suit, Rebirth Suit, Superman And Lois Suit, Frank Quitely Suit and an Animated Series suit.
I still think earth should be a "tutorial world" and have lex be a tutorial boss and give the player a feel on how to play superman. Other then that great pitch
Thank you very much for the compliment! Looking back at it, earth can for sure still serve a purpose for a good Superman game. Just got tired of nay-sayers complaining about Supes having no enemies or him being "too fast" for a game.
A superman on warworld would be epic too! or superman traveling across the universe in some sort of quest all the while battling enemies that clashes with his morals like encountering a being that is causing suffering to others but is unaware of it as it seems almost animal like or something like that I dont know at this point Ill take what I can get superman
I agree!!! Ill take any Superman game honestly but a Superman game where he is in space and outside of his comfort zone is probably the best way to treat his powers. There is so much story and game potential for that kind of level of enjoyment.
This is definitely the best Superman game concept I’ve ever seen on this platform, especially considering it wasn’t another origin story or the “have him slowly get his powers back overtime” nonsense. However, I think a Superman game in Metropolis can work too. Most of the “problems” people bring up can fix with game logic. Buildings wouldn’t crumble in fights due to the game not allowing it (plus Superman clearly being shown to hold back a lot), and civilians won’t be harmed because they aren’t given hitboxes like Arkham. You can have villains like Metallo, Parasite, Livewire, Atomic Skull, Lobo, and Bruno Mannheim (in like a mech suit) to challenge him physically, while Mr. Mxy could have trippy Scarecrow esque missions, along with Toy Man being more of a riddler esque character making you collect his toys and saving people from death traps. Lex would be the one that manipulates most of them by appealing to their agenda, and really gets under Clark’s skin with his wit and disregard for others. Their final fight would be a culmination of Lex’s arrogance, and Superman’s morality being tested rather than him just beating him outright. Perhaps it comes down to Clark possibly even being depowered against Lex without his power suit to show that he doesn’t need them to keep pushing forward in the name of hope and justice. Normal enemies for the game in and out of the story can be Intergang using their Apokolips tech. Not only can you connect them to a mission chain of operations you have to shut down, but they can have daily crimes like weapons dealings, extorting small businesses, maybe even robbing banks in Jetpack chases to show how larger than life street crime is for Metropolis. They can have brawlers, plasma riflemen that are both grounded or with jetpacks, and ones with plasma whips to keep the player from going airborne or tie them up. They would also be in mech suits so they aren’t getting one shotted. Lex can have his own private militia of metahumans called the “Everymen”, inspired by the everyman project in the comics. People who adore him that were given the chance of a lifetime to be given powers through experimentation, and share his hatred for Superman. Fire, ice, electricity, telekinesis, super speed, etc. So many different powers can be used to make them a challenge for Clark to overcome without killing them. Toyman can have his well…toys. Robots made from the remains of Lexbots from past battles that Toyman scraped together, and dressed up as toy soldiers, nutcrackers, jolly chimps, etc. He would obviously have a mech suit resembling a toy robot or something if it comes down to facing Clark. I would definitely take a Superman game like this too, as I am STARVING for a banger game for him. But I feel like with today’s tech, it’s be a shame to not a see a fully realized, populated Metropolis in his first game in years (Suicide Squad DOES NOT count). Especially if they pull a Spider-Man 2018 with being able to interact with civilians. Not to mention all the landmarks. The city doesn’t get too much love compared to say, Gotham, and it really deserves it. Plus, I would like a trilogy of games, so starting off with the heat you was spitting would be WAY too much 😭. Not to mention his earth based enemies also could use more exposure too.
Thank you man I really appreciate the comment and I agree, the only reason that I made this video was mainly because most of the big Superman game videos that I have seen only have him starting at a young age or depowering him so much to where he doesn’t feel like Superman but a Batman clone. I wanted to make something different and one where we see him experienced but still going on new adventures and learning. But reading your Metropolis pitch really opened my mind more to a game in his city. Before I thought that it would be boring because I wanted more of the power fantasy that many say is impossible. But with yours it can actually build into a trilogy. Start off in Metropolis, next game could be in the Phantom Zone and the last could be like how I explained in the video. This also proves my point that since me and you were able to come up with concepts that are actually doable for a game, imagine what a full on gaming studio could do lol further disproving the “Superman is too hard” bs. People honestly have to be Superman fans to actually come up with a good game lol But thank you for the kind words for the video, this definitely sounds more like a sequel more so than a first game lmao
@@DakarsWRLD Np. I like the idea of going a grand space adventure in a Superman game, but I feel like a game in Metropolis gives the city much needed love, but also can show what he means to its people. Plus as I said, his earth based enemies don’t get enough credit imo. Intergang for example literally is perfect because they use technology like mech suits that though can hurt Superman, doesn’t rely on Kryptonite, along with them being a criminal organization that can be used across the whole map in a logical manner. Obviously the enemies I listed wouldn’t actually beat Superman, but they can offer a believable challenge in gameplay and also allow to feel like a badass when you beat them. I think it can still offer a power fantasy, especially if the grunts say stuff akin to “it’s the freakin Bat” to Clark. I wouldn’t even mind rarely having regular human enemies that can’t harm you in say, the tutorial via a terrorist attack gone wrong to really show the power the player is wielding. I also would love having Supergirl, Steel, and Connor potentially being playable on DLCs and challenge maps akin to Arkham. We definitely need to see a Superman/Darkseid battle in a proper AAA game though 😭. Shit would be GoW levels of epic.
Great pitch! Mine is similar. Go the Arkham Asylum Metroidvania route, but set in Brainiac’s ship. You can even include a section of Metropolis (along with its characters) as a bottled city. You can do all kinds of environments that Brainiac has been collecting. I would also include a black mercy section where Supes has a vision that he’s on a renewed Krypton (in the vein of the mind bending Scarecrow sections of AA). We just need game developers to think outside of the box. It writes itself! I similarly had the idea of Solar Energy seeds dotted throughout the ship, and collecting them allows you to level up, regaining powers lost, such as heat vision and frost breath, which subsequently open up new areas of the ship.
I love this idea. I would add side missions that feature Adam strange and/or green lantern. Kinda like the most wanted missions or the nightwing team up missions.
There's a lot more you can do than just physical challenges, especially for bosses. Consider the Lego games (some of the best superhero games) where often the trick to beating bosses isn't just about punching them. Instead you have to solve some puzzle to hurt them or expose the weak point. Now imagine Superman trying to stop some rampaging robot. He's struggling to limit the collateral damage while trying to figure out how to stop it without causing its power core to detonate, which would destroy several city blocks.
1:18 Don't forget that there's a BIG street tier bias not just in games but in literally most forms of media IN GENERAL and not just in regards to superheroes and/or comic adaptations. Once you see it you can't unsee it and once you see it you suddenly beging to understand and appreciate more why anime and manga are so popular: because by comparison they have A LOT less street tier bias and often times don't care about more essential things like subtlety or pacing let alone pesky things like internal balancing and especially not 'real world's balancing.
One thing not mentioned is that the whole city damage mechanic from The Superman Returns video-game COULD work. It would just need to be implemented in limited areas like during specific missions and would just need to be spiced up by also being in missions where Superman himself would logically have a health bar, basically replicating all those awesome times in Superman media where he's trying to protect and save others while in the middle of fighting dudes who can make even him sweat at the same time.
I agree with there being a street level bias. The idea of characters being inherently more interesting because they have less powers, or the other being less interesting because of that makes my brain melt 💀.
I like the overall premise and concepts of your pitch, but I feel this would be better as a sequel game since Darkseid is essentially the big bad of the DC Universe.
I'm very glad that you enjoyed and liked my concept! And yeah looking back on it, it does sound more like a sequel. I really wanted to lean into a power fantasy that na-sayers believe is impossible but I wanted to take Superman and challenge him physically than leaning on his weaknesses.
@@DakarsWRLD Yeah I get that. It's just that I think for a first game, it should mostly take place on Earth, but not just Metropolis. You should be also be able to visit key locations for certain missions, such as the Fortress of Solitude (maybe you could fast travel there to craft certain upgrades for Superman), the Phantom Zone, Brainiac's ship, etc. Also I think the first game should have Superman mostly fight some of his less powers but more earthbound enemies (in no particular order), such as the Parasite, Metallo, Livewire, Bizarro, Atomic Skull, Toyman, Silver Banshee, Master Jailer, Prankster, etc. You'd have to get creative with some of them to be credible threats, but it could work. Also, I think Mr. Mxyzptlk should play a role for both games similar to the Riddler's role in the Arkham games. Basically, Mxyzptlk would have you look for various illusions and puzzles to solve scattered throughout the game. When you find them all, you find a way to somehow trick him into saying his name backwards to return him to the 5th dimension. Anyway, I got plenty more ideas for this game, but with the CEO of WB Discovery hinting at it, I have hope it'll come out in the next couple of years.
Instead of a health bar call it a Disaster Bar, enemy bullets shoot you, you lose the bar not because of health lost, but because the bullets deflect and hit objects, and ricochet onto civilians and the criminals themselves.... His speed is nerfed in a city setting, to avoid collateral damage, his strength is nerfed so as to not kill enemies, get in the mindset of being a good superman in a world of glass, I think tge superman returns game had a city health bar instead of one for supes himself
I feel like Superman should still have a health bar to create some challenge for the player when he is in Metropolis. I do like the saving people approach but it shouldn't feel like a constant chore that could damage the city to game over. Superman Returns approach was okay but the game was rushed and could have been better.
I feel like starting him off young would be better cause you get a better feeling of who he was but you can make like a time jump. Also I feel like metropolis and small vill should both be open world hubs.
I understand, but I feel like there is hardly any creativity when it comes to having a Superman game where he is young because we seen it so many times. We know who he is and what he’s about, having an experienced Superman in a game doesn’t take away the feeling of how he got there.
@Zozo Bozo I was thinking of young Clark Kent as. more of a tutorial space, not like. One of those stupid troops that says that, oh, you need to start him as Young Clark Kent. off because he's too overpowered. That's stupid. I was thinking more in the lines of like a 20 to 30 minute. Short snapshot of that time in his life so you could get introduced to characters such as his mom and his dad to get more emotionally attached if something were. To happen to them in the sequel. I agree that having a whole game focused around Clark Kent would be utterly stupid.
Wow you should work at WB Games Montreal because I like how you go in depth with this character plus you think before you tell your portrayal for Superman
Thank you very much, and it's just honestly reading comics ngl lol In all seriousness, I just want to show nay-sayers that yes you can make a game on this character only if you treat him respectfully and giving Superman proper enemies as well as a good story. Most who say that it is impossible must have never read a Superman comic.
I always like to clap back against people who bring up the 'overpowered'argument by pointing to various shonen characters that feature in games, namely, and of course, Goku. A character who should be suffering from all the same issues they level against Supes yet doesn't.
People who say that are only repeating what they heard someone else say. And most times that person is repeating what they heard and so on going back to whatever jackass started it back in the 90s. Some people are sheep.
@@DakarsWRLD I think it’s an interesting idea because you came out swinging and did Darkseid first so how do you top him I suppose you could have him go to war world next and then after Mongul is defeated he returns to earth and finds It transformed into hell scape setting up third game Brainiac arrived while he was gone and merged with Lex like justice league unlimited ….to create a new being that plans to spread across the universe ….so Lex becomes the final villain
My idea for the plot of a Superman game would've been to adapt the Legacy episodes of Superman the Animated Series as a part one of two prologue and start the second half in the aftermath of the final part of the Legacy episodes. Beginning: Superman's 😈counterpart Overman and his 🇩🇪army attack Metropolis and battle Superman until the city is destroyed. After Overman's defeat, he is arrested by the ARD (Alien Response Division). After Superman's failure to sway the federal government to believe that they have nothing to fear from him. The government puts Trillions of dollars in funding the ARD and their exploits. The commanding officer of the ARD is Sam Lane (Lois Lane's dad and someone who almost lost his other daughter Lucy Lane during Superman's alien invasion) and he orders all of their resources are now for 💀☠️ Superman. Sam during his tenure slowly becomes a mad 👔rant he✅✅ bent on 💀☠️ Superman. Sam will capture and dismantle Cyborg, turn the most powerful villains of Superman's Earth based rogues gallery and use them as special meta human agents who have nothing better to do than to 💀☠️ Superman. Sam would also capture Lex Luthor and use him as his IT guy. All of these things culminate into three events. Middle: Lex Luthor builds Sam Lane a time machine that's capable of extracting people from the past. The devious duo summon the Greek champion Atlas and after giving him a device (Built with alien technology and by Lex Luthor) that's capable of translating virtually any language, Atlas is sent after Superman. Round 1 with Atlas: Atlas stirs up trouble in Metropolis and they begin to battle each other. Lots of property damage ensues and ends in a draw, causing Superman to fly away. Superman heads back to the Fortress of Solitude to collect his old Legion of Superheroes ring and mentally prepares himself for the next round with Atlas. Round two with Atlas: Lois Lane is kidnapped by ARD soldiers and is to an abandoned oil rig. Atlas is now armed with a somewhat crude flight ring (Built by Lex Luthor with help from the nigh unbreakable metal called Nth metal) and now possess the artificial ability to fly. Superman hopelessly battles Atlas and is almost 💀☠️. Superman with no time to spare pulls out his LoS ring and presents it to Atlas. Giving him the choice of 💀☠️ him or using the ring to escape to the past. Mentally and spiritually defeated, Atlas uses the ring to travel to the past while assuring the Man of Steel that they will meet again. End: Superman is used to the usual patterns of the ARD and sweeps through them like nothing. With the ARD and the last minute escape from Lex Luthor, Sam gets the finishing touches done for his last weapon. Sam presents to the world his last attempt to 💀☠️ Superman: Lucy Lane. Lucy for years has been in the process of fusing together with ⚪️ Martian DNA 🧬and has been turned into a ⚪️ Martian hybrid by her father for the purpose of 💀☠️ Superman. Superman battles Lucy after she is deployed and it's a no holds barred battle. A fake military town is destroyed and the battle travels to Metropolis and destroys the entire city for a final time. Epilogue: Superman defeats Lucy and takes her to Star Labs for treatment. Lex Luthor assists the authorities in arresting Sam Lane. Sam gets stripped of his military ranking and is serving 100 life sentences. The ARD is reshuffled into being an American based taskforce with the purpose of actually detaining alien threats and Superman flies off with Lois Lane into the sunset.
There's a problem in three minutes, and superman doesn't have a no kill roll He just dislikes killing. He has no moral quandary against it like if he needs to kill someone and merck, someone oh, he will do it, he won't like it, but he will do
My only alteration to your idea would be to switch out Mongul Senior with Mongul Junior and use Mongul Senior as the main antagonist of the sequel. Plus my idea for a sequel to Omega War would be if Mongul was attempting an intergalactic takeover of the universe and blames Superman for the 💀☠️ of his son. He would've built himself the Omega Lantern Armor that has the power of *all* of the lantern corps' powers including ⚪️ and ⚫️. He could sub🍯⛩the soul of Ivaldi and force him to build Mongul Senior whatever he wants to help him 💀☠️ Superman.

Its always funny to me how people will try to excuse Superman, but then try to act like Kratos and others like him don't already exist lol
The comparison is still very much apt and what you said only reinforced it and did not weaken it.
People who say that are only repeating what they heard someone else say. And most times that person is repeating what they heard and so on going back to whatever jackass started it back in the 90s. Some people are sheep.
Bro really said Lex isn’t worth superman’s time
Superman going after bigger fish lmao
This was excellent
Could you pitch a sequel?
Thank you! And I can definitely find the time to pitch another Superman game idea👍🏽💯
@@DakarsWRLD I think it’s an interesting idea because you came out swinging and did Darkseid first so how do you top him
I suppose you could have him go to war world next and then after Mongul is defeated he returns to earth and finds It transformed into hell scape setting up third game
Brainiac arrived while he was gone and merged with Lex like justice league unlimited ….to create a new being that plans to spread across the universe ….so Lex becomes the final villain
There's a problem in three minutes, and superman doesn't have a no kill roll
He just dislikes killing.
