I think it is a picture from Kalakshetra when it was in Adayar. Cashew trees were in the campus. I have sat on those branches with my books and some peanuts for munching.
listening to MDR adds another new dimension to the experience. It's a bliss. His repertoire and bhava laden rendering are unique. A blessed soul indeed
Being only at the beginning of my classical music journey, one has an inkling of the stupendous singing skills of the great M. D. Raamanaadhan. The accompanists ( who are sadly not named) give marvellous support.
A poignant photo as well. Imagine sitting on the ground across the master in the shade of that sprawling tree with a light breeze on your face and his madhyamavathi flowing !! Bliss !!
Music in purest form. You will find everything that is essential for a Serene and Devine music. MDR Will always be remembered for his excellent renditions.
Superb........ sublime ........ meditational ......... reverberating sound ....... immersed in raga bhavam...... inimitable style.......... words are not enough to praise the rendering of the immortal great great MDR Sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Koodi pranamams to the Guru........
Most of the so called Karnatic classical musicians try to make keerthanas sound as sweet as possible. When they render any piece in any of the raagas they render it as if it were some thing light. I think the great MDR alone is the solitary musician who can differentiate a classical keerthana from a light song sung in the same raaga. The classical version is more technical than one of harmony and Shri. MDR is a rare expert in blending both so harmoniusly that no listener would raise his eyebrows as a mark of protest. Beautiful rendition by the legendary vidwan Shri.M.D..Ramanathan
No words to describe. Melodious voice pure and traditional. LEGEND.
What great rendering of madyamavathi. Unique. Full of bhava. And bliss.

Avery simple man with a sweet smile holding the ocean of musical knowledge and prowess in him. Never forget him.
WHAT A GREAT GREAT MAESTRO.. PROSTRATIONS TO HIM...
MDR is totally immersed in his own music and radiates his internal Aanandam. A pre-requisite for those around to enjoy. A total master.

Excellent! No need to say something about MDR because he is so popular among music lovers. The violinist also has done exceedingly well.
His Ridhigoula and Hindolam raghas have motivated me to start listening his musics. Pranams to him.
