blissful rendering , an exploration in to the various shades and flavour of the raaga "deva-gandhaari" . The great M.D.R , a master of the chowka kaala ! highly absorbing .

Retired persons like me get immense soothing feelings when we hear mdr,'s music. He sings enjoying the text and music. Personally I would like to know the names of accompanying artists, violist and mridangist.

Violin is the great L. Subbramanian! Though he ventured much Into world music, its clear here he gets the pure Carnatic ragas too. Wow.

@@gopakumarnair7770 I agree with both of you. Check out 1979 Madras Music Academy for MDR's elaborate take "Jagadanandakara" with all 11 charanams covered with each charanam Palghat Raghu sir initates and his fellow Palghat Victoria College alumnus MDR follows. Pure heaven!!

From a purely musical point of view, I can see some similarity in their voice but their singing styles are very different (not the western vs carnatic difference). I am saying both would sing the same song differently. MDR's singing style has some influence from how Kathakali padams are sung.

Every great musician has his own style, and probably no two musician's performance is comparable. While making comments it is nice and wise to know about the system of music and the musician. To hear and enjoy MDR's music one needs lots of insight into the systems of music, especially Carnatic music.

The typical MDR style has an individuality of its own. It is enough you listen to his rendition inabsentia . His face will appear before your inner mind with all the expressions you watch while sitting before him iduring the concert !! To be totally different from the rest is a mark of one's typical identity.
