One day, I was walking to the liquor store to buy cigarettes, my wife just told me that she was pregnant and I didn't know how to be a Dad, I lost mine due lung cancer when I was 8, yes he smoked, that day I didn't choose to quit, I choose to challenge myself to see how long I can make a pack of cigarettes last... That day I had only one cigarette, that was the last cigarette I ever had, my son just celebrated his 11 year... And he still has a dad... 😊
Over the past 2 years I have slowly done the following. 1. Quit Smoking cold turkey after 27 yrs 2. Quit soda 3. Quit coffee/all caffeine 4. Quit weed 5. Quit alcohol 6. Cut 95% eating out and bad food 7. Exercise daily I've lost over 40 pounds and save hundreds of dollars each month💚
10 yrs of my drinking and 3 yrs of chain smoking habit is now under control. I still can have a drink or two without hurting me much. I still can go with a packet of cigarettes a day or even none. I don't get the cravings anymore but i can take it whenever i want under full control but i don't do it anymore. I also started going to gym, reduced my sugar cravings and learned to eat healthy foods. I believe once u start caring for urself and get disciplined, u start to see the opportunities and other good things around u. I still haven't achieved anything big with my career, don't have a partner or a family and I'm all by myself through these years but i believe it will happen soon because i feel stronger than before
In my experience, the feeling of being full isn't necessarily the best indicator of when to stop eating. A measured approach based on the size of the meal and its nutrition content is usually the best approach. Eat a balanced meal that is healthy and the correct amount of calories and you may still feel very hungry and unfulfilled, but if you stop and resist the urge for more food. In 10-15 minutes you will stop feeling hungry and feel full.
The right thing is to eat till you feel about 80 % full. We can’t measure how full we are but the thing is to eat and stop at the point when you feel you are about to get full or satisfied.
I lack a lot of things i see in these self help videos. But i have persistence and have been so lucky that I have been waking up to try again. It's so amazing that within 24 hours we get to try again and try something different or do the same thing better. I haven't counted all the years and days where i have failed, those were time learning. Sure, maybe i need more classes than others. But I will keep repeating the process and find something that clicks. i know that is the formula to succees. Nothing else matters. When that day arrives i will go back to the video that resonated with me and leave a comment
Self discipline is key,you don't stop bad habits because of someone else, you stop them for you,I used to drink myself off and get home very late drunk and wasted, one day I said to myself,'enough',I've never touched the bottle since then and I have accomplished so much,we are stronger than we know, just find yourself
a lot of really great people are not noticed in life but help others all the time i just want to say i notice you and I'm grateful for the work you do ty 🥰🥰🥰
I'm a somewhat new subscriber and don't usually comment on anything unless it's worth it (saying less is more), but I do have to say thank you. Your videos make simple self improving concepts go a long way, and I think this is one of my favorites so far.
I agree with Seneca’s sentiments, but the issue with his 3 days “hardship” was he had the comfort of returning to his riches at any moment. The poor and misfortunate don’t have the same ability and this is where suffering begins. People can’t even begin to fathom a life of comfort because they have never seen, felt and generally experienced it.
Hey There!!,Thanks for sharing these powerful Stoic lessons! 🙌 Discipline truly is the key to success. Learning to say no to immediate pleasures for long-term gains is a game-changer. Seneca's idea of seeking discomfort for growth resonated with me. It's amazing how embracing challenges builds resilience. Quitting bad habits, like Eisenhower did with smoking, shows the strength of the mind over the body. Kato and Ruben Carter's minimalist approach is a refreshing perspective in our consumer-driven world. Octavian's journey teaches us the value of disciplined pacing. And, of course, silence is strength - a timely reminder in our noisy world. 🤫 Thanks again for the wisdom! 🌟
thanks for making this, I know this looks fancy and nice - but I can see how much effort and time it takes to make these videos - I really appreciate you for this video out here. Keep inspiring. you are my favorite creator.

I would love to hear you do a video on the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Just the first 164 pages, the rest is personal stories you might actually save a lot of lives by reaching people that ordinarily would never know about it. Always enjoy your videos.

11:09 Yes, actually. I remember my wet, frozen feet as my parents could not afford to buy me proper winter boots. I fucking remember that and I am not grateful for the experience.
The body actually isn't stupid by seeking safe pleasure. But our industries have figured out how to walk around our warning systems. Choose a life and surroundings that limit your access to media and people who want to do that.
Stop living IN the problem. Become part of the solution. Einstein said that no problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it. Henry Ford said that people spend more time and energy going around a problem than in actually solving it. There ya go. Two astute individuals are telling us to get outta the problem area of the brain. Soak yourself in the solution. Personal example of solutions in action. I needed a ride to the hospital for a procedure. My mom and her friend slept thru my 5:30 a.m. check in. I could have stayed home and bemoaned the fact that no one cared enough to get up for me. Or… Instead of perpetuating the problem, I drove myself there and let them hammer out the details of picking me up. We have two cars. So, now it became THEIR problem. I felt SO good giving myself a lift to the hospital. That’s an example of switching problems to remedies. It is sometimes a bit of a leap to change gears. But it’s the only solution for problems. Get rid of your alarm clock if it bugs you. Quit changing up the times to try and fix it. It ain’t working huh? It’s Einstein’s definition of insanity to keep trying things that don’t work the first time.

Eating until we're full is what we usually do, but eating until we are satiated (no longer hungry) is better. Eating beyond fullness is gluttony.
In my experience, the feeling of being full isn't necessarily the best indicator of when to stop eating.

Eating until you feel no discomfort
Yes and most people say "well I don't want to waste food".
These people have never heard of a fridge, clearly 😂
Just stay in Ketosis,no cravings

Sin. It’s the flesh and spirit going against each other
Every time I put the alarm early and when I don't feel like it I change it, now that's a problem that Im struggling to solve. Any advice?

I on the other hand tend to always regret what i said🤷♂️
Any chance that you could make these lessons for a younger audience for parents to start a conversation with their kids?
