I'm 66. All my life I tried to do 'good' not because of the reward, but BECAUSE IT WAS RIGHT. For the sake of 'doing good' because it's always the correct path to take. And I have to say at 66 I enjoy a life of peace and respect, especially from my family, the most precious thing in my existence. DOING 'GOOD' IS IT'S OWN REWARD.

    • @MustAfaalik

Well Done! Thus it is said " Only by ignoring the reward, can you be truly rewarded".🙏

@@MustAfaalik It's sad that so many do not grasp this simple truth. I have found in life that nearly ALL answers are "simple", just NOT 'easy'. You seem to solidly understand this.

@@jcdisci Marvellous that you acted rightly & accordingly all your life and your deeds have come to fruition. While i have only just scrape the surface in my late 60's but the results can be felt here & now. And yes, many were called but few chosen. We can only be the change we like to see, while being mindful of our response to others. And to learn from everything & everyone the nature of reality in dependent origination. May you & family be well & happy, & guide yourselves to bliss.🙏

      Hi 👋.

    • @StoicismandModernLife.
      @StoicismandModernLife. หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for your sincere and profound sharing! First of all, congratulations to you and your family on the admirable achievements you have achieved. I really sympathize with what you said - in the past, I also rushed out to find the values that I believed were good. But only after more than 10 years, I realized an important thing: *the inner world changes the outer world*.
What I want to emphasize here is that very few people really return to the *roots* of life. It is true that many people talk about the "Wheel of Life", but they often only focus on the **surface**, on achievements or distant goals. Few people really pay attention to the **roots**, the most basic things such as: **loving family, loving yourself**, and **cherishing Mother Nature**. Those are the core values that we need to cultivate.
Modern life is full of holes, and that makes me appreciate *Stoicism* even more. What the Stoics, or “the bearded ones,” taught about **emotional control* and *virtue* are truly valuable lessons. Only when we deeply understand and practice them can we see the greatness of this philosophy.
Once again, I would like to congratulate you. You are truly rich - not only in terms of external success, but also in terms of internal value. This kind community is very lucky to have people like you. From my heart, I send my best wishes to you and everyone who reads this. *Lots of love and appreciation to you all!*

The problem I see being stoic is that people recognize it and purposefully try to change it in you. Therefore it seems almost wise to put on that you aren't quite stoic to avoid people sniffing it out. The more stoic I am the more others try to destroy it in me. It's good practice but hard to do.

The highest virtue is not virtue and therefore really is virtue. Real virtue comes naturally for example putting your life at risk to save another, and then walking away anonymously laying no claim to the act. True power comes from giving it up to another, and saying let's see what you can do. By doing this you have the power from within. I believe George Washington knew this.

Plus there’s a story for his 20yrs reign that mostly spent in Germania present day Germany to quell rebellion of different Germanic tribes he received stories from Rome to the Battlefields that his wife is committing adultery eventhough she sire her already with ten siblings to his trusted Generals who he asked to guard his family in Rome. Imagine how this excruciating pain of betrayal of trust from his wife and his trusted friend General he has to deal with in his heart and mind in the thick of the impending battle. He chooses not to be affected by it and he brush it aside to focus his attention and all his energy to create a plan of strategy for the battle to come. Mostly he wins the battles for his 20years reign against the dreaded vicious Germanic tribes. The movie Gladiator featuring Russell Crowe is his story. I recommend it for you to watch. Marcus Aurelius is the Emperor in that movie k!

However he was human like ALL of us and his greatest failure was his son Commodus. He should have taught his son what he loved and preached and left the Roman Empire in better hands.
Can someone tell me why he failed with his son?
    This is also his LEGACY!

Its not only the betrayal by his General Cassius who declared himself as Emperor during his reign in 175. The soul dyes by his daily thoughts. He leads with wisdom and integrity. Integrity simply means doing the right things eventhough nobody is watching. Marcus Aurelius. After the American Civil War ended 1861-1865 President Abraham Lincoln was interviewed and asked by the media what is his religion? His reply is, When i do Good i feel Good, when i do Bad i feel Bad, that is my religion. K

Im all for this philosophy but not so certain the major betrayal of cassus met with forgiveness and so on was the best approach…it wasn’t like the dude slept with his wife..this was treason at the highest level! PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH is an absolute winning strategy to ward off any wicked fools who dare to consider trying you. Marcus was a unique leader Im sure but sounds as if he had to endure a lot of attackers because of his beliefs. Unfortunately his style affected his people and the region as well. He didn’t have to be a full blown war monger but he could have chosen to step it up a couple notches for the greater good.

Im thinking in Genesis the father states he created Christ.. He says to the snake ..what is this you have done to my creation? For you have done nothing ... He will bruse your head and you will bruse his heal... ?? Is he not speaking of Christ? As in Adam? Adam is not Christ ? Then how can they both claim the exact same.. I am the Alpha and Omega..the beginning and the end... Is not Lucifer, actually Christ as is Adam..? Lucifers name means phopherous..light! Bringer of light.. Ancient songs praze him... For he is referenced to being like the morning star... The definition of perfection..the foundation of the garden of Eden.. GOD don't make junk .. Christ is referenced to being like the morning Star...sorry not Venus fools... You think GOD doesn't know what our son is ? The bringer of light and life... The rising of the son!! Was very very important... Yet the moon more so even... Degrees of tilt for seasons could not be without the moons luner planitery plane. No other satellite 🛰️ in the galaxy or universe sets this mark... 🤔 We haven't found one yet.. You see Adam is Lucifer as Lucifer is Christ. Same spiritual Angel theoughout different times on the Earth. They can't be referenced as being like the same thing.. or saying exactly the same thing... ?? I don't think we really understand the situation. GOD made man twice. The first time he said ive given you seed and foul, fish, beast of hoof.. now go populate the world. Then he went and picked out a place to build the garden. What scared cain so much he told GOD NO! Your punishment is to harse. They will know me? Who is they? Whats out there beyond the walls of the garden..?? Men... GOD put his mark on him?? Wonder what that mark was..? You see it all comes from Adams bloodline.. The tribe of Benjamin is in true blood of the King of Israel... Warrior blood... ANYWAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND I HOPE YOU ARE DOING FOR HIM.. NOT YOURSELF.. SANTINS BEST FALSE GOD.. SELF ..
