Only the best of professionals can take on and love the challenge of veganizing or creating vegan dishes. Whether they are successful ... ;^) This looks fantastic.
I don't know, I don't think making vegan dishes is particularly difficult. What's harder is many people's insistence on trying to make dishes that are inherently meat into something vegan. There is no such thing as vegan steak or vegan fried chicken; you can cut vegetables into slabs, or deep fry them, but they just aren't similar. Delicious in their own right, but still something else entirely. And then there are those who go the other way and try to make it more than vegan; if JJR tried to make this vegan and gluten free, it would be awful. Replacing eggs and butter isn't too tall an ask for a cake, but replacing flour IS. I do it all the time and you NEED the flavor of the eggs and butter, and more besides, to make it good. The problem isn't vegan recipes (or gluten free ones), it's the expectations, on BOTH sides.
Hi Linda! I have made JJRs vegan chocolate and vanilla cake recipe for my cake decorating business and for my family (no customers or family were vegans) and they all loved the cakes and the recipe is so easy. I actually had a fun little cake tasting with my 3 kids, husband, and friends (trying to see which was going to be my go to recipe for cake orders), I used JJRs vegan chocolate with 4 other chocolate cake recipes and had them rank them blindly and the vegan ranked 2nd. Hope any of this helps your curiosity knowing whether they are successful 😊. I know I like to hear what people's honest reviews are that way it saves me the trouble from trying the recipe or wasting ingredients. Sorry for such a long reply, just had back surgery and I'm going stir crazy🤪

Pumpkins ripen around this time of the year, so they're easier to pick.
Pumpkin cup cakes would be good with chocolate chips in the batter. For a variation on the Pumpkin Cake try hollowing out the center & fill with Reese's Pieces!
Yay! Cake!!! Most UK Sugars are Vegan since they don't do the bone thing unlike the U.S. and I see them mostly using caster sugars so maybe try that? It's always a good idea to research these things, I learned it while I was being trained under a chef so sometimes people don't realize but there are lots of things in food you may not know!

I’ve seen people use rum or vodka instead of confectioners glaze, that would be vegan.
