  • In this video I'll show you how I protect my Bikes battery .
    Sometimes Accessories can drain you're bikes battery over time.
    Fitting a 12v relay ensures everything is disconnected when you turn off you're bike.
    Hope this is of some help to someone.
    Thanks for watching

    I'm not an electrician, I don't play one on TV, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I'm going with a HealTech Thunderbox instead. It's basically a much more plug-n-play accessory controller version of what you did, but it also costs a lot more than 4 pounds. It does include everything but the "stretchy tape," which we call "electrical tape" on the other side of the pond. Worth a look for those who don't want to reinvent the wheel. That being said, it looks like you did a wonderful job for a fraction of the cost. 👍👍 (That's 2 thumbs up!)

      Yes. The smart relay technology is migrating it's way to mainstream. In a few short years the current switch power relays will be a thing of the past.

    Hey nice video, the original connectors is a Sumitomo HV HVG 040 O2 male or female, which I invented before I got my new NC 750x DCT in April. This bike has actually given me back the pleasure of riding. After 10,000 km I can say it is a great bike. I am very happy with it.

    Just watching this at the moment.
    I ended up buying a thunderbox, great bit of kit but a bit more expensive.
    I've yet to sort out the ability to use an electric tyre pump but I know that the fuse will blow in the loom on the bike.

    I have a 2017 nc750x and fitted auxiliary loom (Honda part) under bottom of nearside frunk,plus a relay and fuse also from Honda, has 3 outputs I use for heated grips, sat nav and usb

    Rather than running wires all over, I carry power packs in the frunk, I have 1 USB on the dash if the phone requires charging up. I do have relays on the aux lights and heated grips.
    I’ve haven’t used a garmin or Tom Tom in years.
    But if that’s what you like, fair enough

    • @Crohniebiker

      Thanks for watching, I also carry 2 power packs when I go touring for a couple of weeks, it's really convenient for charging them from the bike 👍

  • @dctdave.buttybach
    @dctdave.buttybach 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You made it look & sound so simple but I have one question, I may have missed it, what size fuse did you use for the main feed to the relay from the battery? 🤔
    Excellent video in my opinion as I’m not good with electronics and it all looked very professional, I may even give it a go on my NC 👌🏻

    • @Crohniebiker
      @Crohniebiker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I put in a 7.5A fuse at the moment,
      The heated grips will take nearly 5A but the usb will be quite low I think.
      Maybe when I fit some auxiliary lights I will put in a 10A fuse but everything is working brilliant at the moment.
      Thank you for your comments and for watching 👍

      @@Crohniebiker Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question Crohnie, I will be doing the same thing to my NC as you have 👍🏻 it will probably take me a lot longer to do though!
      I have another question for you, the Tom Tom Mount you have fitted is it sturdy with the weight of the unit fitted in place? Some are very wobbly with the vibration from the bike’s suspension!
      Regards,
      Dave

    • @Crohniebiker
      @Crohniebiker  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No the only reason I installed my own relay was because I don't want to overload the bikes harness with all my accessories.

    Should have searched and buy an original plug for that connector, or at least, a pin soldered to the wire to the relay and plugged to the pin of the red wire inside the connector. And all could be protected with heat shrink tubing. The moment you cut and striped that red wire, your bike electrical installation warranty was gone down the drain. Congrats for that...
    If I were you, I would have never touched the bike wiring. Instead, I would have simply put a switch on the wire you connected to battery and connected it with the two USB chargers. Also, I would have used a USB cable to supply power to GPS receiver.
