New video, new style. I worked with a talented videographer called Bart (instagram.com/_by_bart/ ) to film this video, which is why it looks better than usual, and added some music. I hope you like it! As always, there are links to buy the games in the description.
That was some of the best footage I’ve seen of people playing games. Great job! I hadn’t heard of the lemonade game. I’ll have to look into that some more and yes please for the drinking games video!
That opening was pretty funny! I keep hearing about High Society and For Sale from your direction- perhaps I should finally add those to my collection.
Both are classics. I've found that for some reason For Sale is hard to ... sell ... to my friends. I think it looks too simple. But it is subtle and tense, but easy rules. High Society is a true classic from 1995. The new reprinting looks great. You might hear people disparaging it because there was a previous reprinting that was lower quality. Often, the quality of the bits makes a huge difference.
Great recommendations. I love that you always stay clear from " the latest board/kickstarter hotness" and just recommend solid great games. I bought L.l.a.m.a after seeing you praise it and it's been a big hit with family and friends.
Thank you. That's really thanks to my patrons who support the channel because it means I can focus on talking about the games that I think deserve attention, rather than just covering the latest hotness to chase views, or being paid to preview Kickstarter games.
Really like the new style and you are the first person to make me interested in for sale! Please keep making more of these videos recommending easy teach games for social settings.
No crooked table and the B-Roll is on Point 👌🏻 I do Miss those 65daysofstatic and moon posters though, it‘s rare to find fans of either and it‘s such a great movie.
Great video! Loving the new setup and presentation. Good picks, too! I've played Skull, For Sale and No Thanks at pubs and they even play well with just gestures in situations where the music/noise is too loud.
Great selection - I've played all but the lemonade game down the pub and can confirm that they all go down great. High Society is one of my all time favourite games. Oink's 'Insider' is another game that works really well down the pub.
Top five drinking games please! Our local game night meets at a pub so those would be perfect. Right now we love drinking fluxx but we're looking for more games associated with drinking.
Oooh I own 4 out of 5, just missing 'That's NOT lemonade!' which I have never heard of before. Also, a wonderful, HUGE step up in the production quality.
Neat to see That's Not Lemonade thrown in with the four very classic games. I love No Thanks! and For Sale and already wanted to try the other three, so yay validation!
Skull is amazing. Granted people are a bit confused when you explain it at first. I usually just say it's kinda poker and let's just play one round and see how you like it. Since the game doesn't take that long, it's a big commitment. And people are usually hooked after one, realizing it is quite simple. Yet, it does have more depth than you might think. My fav pub game is chess tho. You can only play it with 2 people. But you can easily go to your local pub alone with a chess board and you will find someone to play with. Makes getting to know more people a lot easier tbh. It's also very funny to see when you are in a game and a small crowed gathered around the baord discussing who's winning and whatnot.
Great list! These are some of my favorite small group party games. Archaeology: New Expeditions and Ohanami are a couple others we have really enjoyed.
Really like the look of this video. I've been interested in High Society, but I was under the impression it was very similar to For Sale which i have, so I wasn't sure if I needed both. Is it worth getting both?
I never want to say "you should own this game", but I do think they are fairly distinct from each other. Both auction games, sure, but I don't find the experience to be similar otherwise. It more depends on how much you would play this type of game, as to whether it would be valuable to your collection.
I've personally made 9 or 10 board/card drinking games, mostly for friends who where "testers" (ha!) on finding a good balance between "fun", "challenge" and "drinking amount" :D I don't really like the standard "what can I do with 2-6 dice, or a deck of cards" I want my games to be a little more crazy with challenges, dancing and shouting :)
I had a game night in my bar. We sat at a booth and played Get Bit, Sushi Go Party and Tiny Epic Galaxies. Also at various bars I have played Pass the Pigs and Art of War.
I think it's either the TH-cam algorithm, or the curse that was placed on me when I ransacked an ancient burial chamber 🤷♂️ Thanks for being a loyal viewer!
No Thanks keeps coming up. I might have to give that one a solid try one day. High Society and Skull look interesting as well. I would love to you get a copy of Turin Market to review just to hear your thoughts. What was that British ale you consumed? It looked like an ESB to me judging by the color and the light bouncing off the glass.
I run a board game group that travels to different breweries around town. Skull is the first game I normally throw at people. It prepares them for the lying and bluffing that will happen at some point in the hidden roll games that are also in the collection. Secret Hitler is definitely the most played game in our collection.
Not played the lemonade game, but those are some prime choices. No Thanks is always in my game bag. I might get the new High Society just so I can keep it with me too. (Ahem. I have the original version, which is much too valuable to let commoners handle). And Llama is a great game if you're meeting pub friends who might be willing to try a game, but aren't gamers. Simple to teach by giving everyone a hand and starting play. And rounds only take a few minutes.
I carry Lamacards + chips and NoThanks cards (we use the Lama chips) inside the box of my Age of War dice game, so we have 3 small games perfect for pubs in a very small package :D
Amazing writing and videography on the video! You continue to set a high quality bar for board game media! Is the extra large sand timer a particular duration that you ever get to use it in games?
I really MUST have High Society now! We'll have to have a high brow party where we serve Champagne cocktails and pair it with low brow food like Fried Chicken.
I can attest that For Sale and No Thanks are great fun. Of the two I prefer For Sale. But the biggest problem with taking those to a pub is finding third and fourth players. It always amazes me how squeamish some people inside those bars can be about having a little mental fun.
While traveling please keep in mind that in some countries playing in public, especially in pubs, might be perceived as something impolite or even bad. Could be a reason to get thrown out of a Pub in some places. quick google search will usually tell you if it is ok.
I've always thought "Pairs" is a good pub game. It's a quick card game where there is only one loser and everyone else wins! Perfect for determining who is buying the next round.
I try to subscribe to as few channels as possible. I get bored with people's videos pretty quickly. And it's not like I'm going to be playing any board games any time soon.
Sorry, bit slow on the admin! Links are in the description now, or here: Spicy - th-cam.com/video/CJSyFRK7Vtg/w-d-xo.html Cockroach Poker - th-cam.com/video/J4mAPX-43UA/w-d-xo.html
The like counter was at 999 before I clicked it. So I'm the 1000th like here. Hurray. Wow. I'm so special. Kudos to me. Now I'll go cry myself to bed after losing a few more online Catan games.
I think the Iello one has a different box now from the looks of things, but still pretty. And yeah, totally agree. I just have a English print out in the box to remind me of the rules, cos obviously the cards are language free.
High society looks awesome, unfortunately in Poland only the old edition is available and it's really ugly. I had a blast playing bang! the dice game and cockroach poker in pubs.
If you're someplace you can comfortably be a bit loud, I can vouch for Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and Anomia. Do them as drinking games to get silly fast.
Have most of these although never heard of the lemonade one. I have to say though that the IPAs I order taste nothing like piss - quality above quantity!
That Patreon segue was a work of art.
New video, new style. I worked with a talented videographer called Bart (instagram.com/_by_bart/ ) to film this video, which is why it looks better than usual, and added some music. I hope you like it! As always, there are links to buy the games in the description.
I loved it! Great video Jon!
Hi Tom, I noticed the video graphic quality right away. I hope you keep this format!
The added production value enhances the watchability quite a lot without muddling your style and format.
I was gonna say! Lookin and sounding great, John.
much prefer this video style
Top 5 drinking games?! Yes please! Great review - love this one.
That was some of the best footage I’ve seen of people playing games. Great job! I hadn’t heard of the lemonade game. I’ll have to look into that some more and yes please for the drinking games video!
Top quality footage Jon, nicely done. Reminds me of Chris Ramsey's intros but more appropriate instead of self indulgent.
I was about to say the same. Congrats Jon! You are taking your videos to another level 🤩
some good picks here: love High Society and Skull, will have to check some of the others out.
Great production btw!
Love the camerawork - oh, and the games!
That opening was pretty funny! I keep hearing about High Society and For Sale from your direction- perhaps I should finally add those to my collection.

A Patreon plug that caught me by surprise and made me laugh. Well done.
Love the new production tricks!! Thank you as always for a great video.
Woah! Jon stepping it up with that cinematography. Love the new style. Bart is a beauty!
Also... need to buy all of these now. RIP Wallet
Really like the new style and you are the first person to make me interested in for sale! Please keep making more of these videos recommending easy teach games for social settings.
No crooked table and the B-Roll is on Point 👌🏻
I do Miss those 65daysofstatic and moon posters though, it‘s rare to find fans of either and it‘s such a great movie.
The new B-Roll and music take this video to the next level! Great work as always!
can we please appreciate how professional these videos look by now? thanks
Love the style of the video and it was fun to watch! :)
I like the new style, Jon. The music and B roll really works to keep me engaged!
Awesome, that was the plan!
Great video! Loving the new setup and presentation. Good picks, too! I've played Skull, For Sale and No Thanks at pubs and they even play well with just gestures in situations where the music/noise is too loud.
More card games I wish there were more videos related to card players we are lumped in with the board gamers love you guys
Very entertaining and some solid recommendations. Thanks, mate!
Amazing close-ups. Looks quite epic how you handle the components.
Love the new camerawork, and your energy in this is so great! I love boardgame reviews that are also funny :)
Oooh I own 4 out of 5, just missing 'That's NOT lemonade!' which I have never heard of before. Also, a wonderful, HUGE step up in the production quality.
Just got into a game called Coup. Very easy and very fun.
Great video with great games. You are a joy to listen to!
Neat to see That's Not Lemonade thrown in with the four very classic games. I love No Thanks! and For Sale and already wanted to try the other three, so yay validation!
Great recommendations, will likely pick all of these up based off your reviews. This video quite possibly had the best patreon plugin going!
This was the best Patreon plug I've ever heard.

Great style in this video, but I really liked the writing too. The little stings at the end of each segment were great.
Great list! These are some of my favorite small group party games. Archaeology: New Expeditions and Ohanami are a couple others we have really enjoyed.
Whoa!!! Production upgrade~~!!!! Well done, Purkis
The editing and music was fun and awesome man, keep up the good work
Sweet transitions. Enjoyed this one very much!

They’re both great and plenty different from each other. Really their only similarity is that you auction for cards.
I love drinking games, so don't hold back on a top 5 drinking game :)

How are you not more popular??!? Been watching you for years and never disappointed 🧡🌸
I think it's either the TH-cam algorithm, or the curse that was placed on me when I ransacked an ancient burial chamber 🤷♂️

Greatest segue from the video to a request for Patreon ever!!
Best boardgame ranking ever! Greetings from Spain bro!
I love liars dice and I'll often bring it to a bar. First discovered it in a bar actually. A bar in China. I think it was an Irish themed pub 🤷♂️😀
We played High Society at 5 p yesterday. It was brilliant.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

It prepares them for the lying and bluffing that will happen at some point in the hidden roll games that are also in the collection. Secret Hitler is definitely the most played game in our collection.
Great video! I love Skull, and High society is on my list but is ALWAYS sold out in Australia!
Great Video dude! Yes to a Drinking game video! 🍻
Nice review! Never played in pub)
But for sale is probably my mom's favorite boardgame. And she plays it extremely well!
The Patreon plug was awesome XD I'd say "shut up and take my money" but I'm already a patron, sooo...
Not played the lemonade game, but those are some prime choices. No Thanks is always in my game bag. I might get the new High Society just so I can keep it with me too. (Ahem. This video was fantastic! I love this lists!
Pairs is my favorite pub game! U can play 20+ games with the deck.
Skull is great too (2nd favorite)
Skull seems very similar to Liars Dice which may be why it has the old times feel you speak of!
Again, a great video on board games.
I carry Lamacards + chips and NoThanks cards (we use the Lama chips) inside the box of my Age of War dice game, so we have 3 small games perfect for pubs in a very small package :D
Great selection of games. I’m jealous of the small box size for “For Sale”. My box is twice that size. Still a great game.
Amazing writing and videography on the video! You continue to set a high quality bar for board game media!
Is the extra large sand timer a particular duration that you ever get to use it in games?
Never used, just for decoration. I think it might be 30 mins long!
@@actualol 30 minutes sounds like a fair amount of time for a turn in some involved euro games!

Wow! That’s the next level and probably the last possible level 🤩
Like for the Patreon plug... Smooth;)
I'd love a video about drinking games! :)
Nice video !
Best drinking games please ! 🍷
wow a really good quality upgrade 👏👏👏
Great vid!
I WOULD like to see your drinking games list please. I enjoy your videos.
Please
I've posted it! It's my last video.
I love liar's dice while drinking.
Top 5 drinking games sounds like an awesome video idea.
The art on that edition of For Sale is sooooo much better than the US version, is that art European only editions? I can't find it in the US market...
I've always thought "Pairs" is a good pub game. It's a quick card game where there is only one loser and everyone else wins! Perfect for determining who is buying the next round.
Skull is on 8ts way to me rn. What a brilliant game, i will likely not play zctual poker too soon because of this
+1 for For Sale.
What version do you have? The cards look less cartoonish than mine.
Mine is the French version made by Iello. I believe they make it in Dutch and German too. It's language independent so I just printed out the rules.
My German version looks the same.
I'm not usually a commenter, but this is a masterpiece.
Thank you 🙂🙂🙂
I try to subscribe to as few channels as possible. I get bored with people's videos pretty quickly. And it's not like I'm going to be playing any board games any time soon.
Anoooother great video!!
Where are the links to his reviews of Cockroach Poker and Spicy he mentioned?

Drinking games episode would be nice. One suggestion, Looping Louie.

The drinking games video is already on the channel 👍
@@actualol oh shoot, I didn’t see it! Thanks for letting me know!
I bought Skull. It hasn't resonated with anyone I've played it with yet - any thoughts how to help it along?
Great video
God, I want that IELLO For Sale so badly. It's hard to get people to look past the hideous American version
I think the Iello one has a different box now from the looks of things, but still pretty. And yeah, totally agree. I just have a English print out in the box to remind me of the rules, cos obviously the cards are language free.
Jon? Did you make the drinking game video?
I love watched it
Ah No Thanks!
I love being that guy who takes the 30+ cards and milks everyone for chips. 🙂
Port Royal and Salem are goods for pubs too
Great video. Top 5 drinking games please!
Great Games!
Please do 5 drinking games!
High society looks awesome, unfortunately in Poland only the old edition is available and it's really ugly. I had a blast playing bang! the dice game and cockroach poker in pubs.
External location: West India Quay, London E14.
Pub? What is this “pub” you speak of? Is that something from the before times? From the long, long ago?
If you're someplace you can comfortably be a bit loud, I can vouch for Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and Anomia. Do them as drinking games to get silly fast.
Love Anomia for drinking situations. Need to try Taco Cat, thanks.
Have most of these although never heard of the lemonade one. I have to say though that the IPAs I order taste nothing like piss - quality above quantity!
I wouldn't bring for sale to the pub, I'd loose all them coins
No thanks is the best. Laughing your ass off when you make someone take a bad card. The best😂🤣😂🥲😂🥲
Yes, top 25 drinking games!:o
Pub games need to be water proof. So, I vote for Hive. It's only a two players game but it is fantastic and only takes 20 min to play
Great point! That's the exact reason Hive made it into my Travel Games video 👌
