Becareful of what you order. Rice roll is made in their kitchen. But Shrimp dumpling is made in a Chinese factory shipped in frozen container to USA. You can buy the same dumping from your local Chinese grocery store.
I am a Hong Kong born daughter of a successful Chinese Chef and restaurant owner who grew up in New York and have had dim sum all over Asia (Singapore, Taiwan, HK, Shanghai, Beijing, Malaysia, etc), Canada (Vancouver and Toronto) and the US (SF, Chicago and NYC). My husband is also a NYC trained Chef who grew up in Brooklyn's Chinatown. We disagree with your review. This place is amazing! I've been there countless times, and it is one of our favorite restaurants in LV. Their Peking Duck is so beautiful, and the pancakes are thin and light. The meats they use are next level high end wagyu and Iberico, which we appreciate. We love their dim sum too. Their dumplings are delicious! It is anything but traditional. It is modern, creative and progressive, taking Chinese food to the next level. Their service is always excellent as well. If you are expecting "traditional" dim sum, with rude, abrupt service, there are plenty of those in Vegas. This restaurant is special.
Thanks for this honest review. I saw IG pics of this place and I questioned if it's overhyped. Definitely sure there are better dim sum places in Vegas.
This is only his opinion. I disagree. Palette is excellent. I've been to Tim Ho Wan and PPP. Both are overrated and way overpriced for what they serve. I've had far superior dim sum in the Hong Kong airport at May's.
Thanks for the review. I was curious about this place. Appears to be another overpriced touristy place. I see more and more of these types of ‘casino priced/styled’ but off the strip restaurants opening near the strip now. I guess i don’t mind as long as we still have other options.
Tbh, the food weren’t impressive but weren’t that bad. Well, You paid for the decor, atmosphere, the concepts of the ingredients combination and the service. I’m an Chinese from China and I kinda like this restaurant. I would still recommend people to try.
We’re glad you had a different experience than us and several others on dining review sites. But based on our experience, we question whether it’s worth paying for the subpar service, food that sounds elevated on the menu but falls short in execution, unkempt bathrooms.
Dim Sum prices have exploded with inflation. Have to limit visits now. Rainbow Grill, New Asia BBQ, ping pang pong at Gold Coast, Tim Ho Wan at Palms. KJ in Rio, Dim Sum Cafe, Orchids Garden are probably better options for locals. Do we need another expensive dim sum spot ?
The answer is yes, we need more expensive dimsum spots, according to other social media accounts showcasing new spots on The Strip. We get your drift, and share your drift. Thanks for watching!
Their prices certainly aren’t budget friendly. Some others have suggested that diners should expect these prices for the elevated ambiance and decor. I think each of us can be the judge on that. Thanks for stopping by!
People are complaining the price because what their experience of having a Chinese food was in a mom and pop restaurant. They never went to this modern fusion kinda type fancy Chinese restaurant. I saw one commented about this restaurant charge gai lan for 18 bucks. My question is why are you guys think an American restaurant charge 18 bucks for Brussels sprouts is acceptable? What is so special about that Brussels sprouts dish? Because you guys think Chinese food doesn’t worth as an American food?
So what is so special about their gai pan to charge $18 for it? Which is something that costs $3 retail (not even wholesale) and takes 1-2 minutes to blanche? We’re not sure what’s the point of mentioning $18 Brussels sprouts. You’re also over-generalizing “American food” which spans a wide range from dollar menus at fast food places to white linen seafood and steak houses. Nobody is debating that Chinese food can never be priced highly. There are plenty of Chinese entrees that have been in demand with high price tags for decades, found in LA, SF, NYC, and even Las Vegas. And people are willing to pay for it. Also, I suppose what’s considered modern and fancy is in the eye of the beholder. We’re more than willing to open our wallets for an experience that’s worth it. That goes for Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Indian, American places, etc But we aren’t alone in pointing out subpar service, dirty bathrooms. If you check your favorite dining review site, others are speaking up as well. Although we may be the only ones mentioning the plastic fantastic furnishings.
SGV certainly has a wide variety of very good Chinese food, even though a certain celebrity chef thinks otherwise 😂. I do miss the dimsum experience from the 80s-2000s in SGV though. It was everywhere, it was super cheap, dimsum carts galore, and a wider variety of establishments: everything from pick up counters to elaborate, massive banquet hall style. And the vibe was different back then, unique in its own right. Eating “zao cha” in GZ was an eye opener to say the least. We’ve also eaten in a few other regions over there, in addition to spending time in Taiwan, South Korea, etc for work
My family is Cantonese and I’ve lived in Hong Kong / Guangzhou / SF Bay Area most of my life. Certainly understand that food tastes are subjective, but I’d highly recommend returning to this place. The service has improved significantly since opening. Also while expensive, the dim sum and other dishes I’ve tried here far exceed other options such as Tim Ho Wan and Ping Pang Pong. The preparation at Palette is much more contemporary compared to those restaurants and may not be for all. However, from my experience eating here on several occasions, the food quality is on par with the Dim Sum you will find in Richmond and the SF Bay Area - likely the best you will find in Chinatown Las Vegas.
1,000% agree! They stir fry with Wagyu - of course it's going to be pricier. Lobster har gaw is always going to cost more than the shrimp version. I own a French restaurant and can tell you that food costs have skyrocketed since the pandemic. Palette's prices are fair for the quality of meats they use. I also agree that the best dimsum in North America is in Richmond, Vancouver because all the owners are from Hong Kong, lol!
And I thought Tim Ho Wan & Din Tai Fong were expensive. I will give this place a try at least 1 time. My go to Dim Sum place is Orchid Gardens which been around forever. Used to go to Harbor Palace for many years before they went out of business. Ping Pang Pong used to be one of the best dim sum in town but ever since they moved to bigger space. Their dim sum quality went downhill.
Orchid Garden is like an institution at this point, similar to Ping Pang Pong in a way. It's a shame to hear Ping Pang Pong has gone downhill for you. Thanks for stopping by.
They are based in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's not trying to be authentic. It is ' Nouvelle ' dim sum. That restaurant group has a spectacular traditional restaurant called Koi Palace.
We had a family gathering at the Palette in San Mateo. It was decent, but very overpriced. I’d rather go to a little hole in the wall type of dim sum/bakery in SF. I miss Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae which closed recently, a victim of the pandemic.
Sorry to hear about your experiences there. Hopefully, they find ways to improve the experience they provide to customers in the future. Fortunately, we have other options in town in the meantime. Thanks for watching!
Oh that’s a very good question. We haven’t exhaustingly trawled through all of Vegas’s dimsum offerings yet. But I think that’d be an effort worth undertaking over the next couple of months. But so far, one place we enjoy is Dim Sumlicious. Thanks for stopping by!
In this video he talks about this place palette tea lounge and Dim-Sum,and when I go to a Asian place I won't pay for hot tea,and although the food looks appealing, and the presentation, the flavors don't tell me the whole story, and although the menu is not long, I don't like ordering Dim Sum off a menu, rather I am used to the waitress walking around with there carts, but this place doesn't look appealing, other than the decor, and they don't have traditional Chinese foods, rather more like CHINESE/AMERICAN STYLE, as I like traditional styles, simple and simplicity but looks can be deceiving, but that's OK, because I don't plan on flying to Vegas just for the food, and I don't gamble
Dimsum places which still serve on carts are few and far between to find nowadays. I recently found one in an area of Southern California not usually associated with dimsum, that was surprisingly good. But that was a rare find.
Majority of Chinese homes, soup is a dinner thing, not lunch soup & sandwich. Also not the same as wonton noodle soup, which can be eaten at breakfast & lunch.
Just looking at the menu is enough to turn me off. Two things. Their price point is on the high side. Then the disclosure re: gratuity. They charge from 18-20%. THEN they have the audacity to even suggest additional tips. So they are suggesting that you tip on top of their mandatory tip. OK, I'm done. I don't need to see anymore. Not going there!
They might trying to mimic similar guidelines seen in menus at upscale or even fine dining for reasons that could be justified. It’s debatable whether that lands here. Thanks for stopping by!
@@franklyvegasMy turn off does not reflect negatively on your channel. I just am not into places trying to milk people dry with their high inflated prices and sneaky undertone.

Shrimp is "adequately fresh". Ugh. But too funny 🤣

Have you been to Palette Tea Lounge & Dim Sum in Vegas? If so, what did you think? But more importantly: Prius or McLaren P1?
$18 for a small plate of gai lan or green beans? $9 for har gau? I seriously doubt the quality of the food is worth the price.

Why doesn’t? Just like American restaurants charge a Brussels sprout for $18 bucks. Because you never be to one fancy Chinese restaurant.
