    Uncle Khong,
    Good video. 👍🏻
    1) even in the Executive 'hi proton'
    Cannot open the windows. 😓
    2) As mentioned, the autonomous systems in the Premium model is Level 1.
    Eg. The AEB will only slow down the car
    But will not stop completely.
    3) looks like buying the standard model is best value for money.
    Then add the extras like leather seats, sound systems, rims & tyres, LED headlights on your own.
    4) Even the Kenwood speakers in the Premium model is inferior to the CRV's sound system.
    But I must say that it drives better than most Japanese SUV (except CX5 which I hv not test driven).
    This car will also last longer than Japanese makes as the quality of the body is substantial.
    Just try closing doors of the X Trail vs. X70.
    You will immediately understand what I mean.
    Kudos Geely.
    Uh... I mean Proton 😅

      How would you rate X70 agaisnt latest Toyota Harrier. Is X70 better in terms of city driving, build quality, sound system, comfort etc..? Thanks.

    • @milopeng7927
      @milopeng7927 5 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      Khabir Amilbarri Lets look at it from a few angles:-
      1) Money
      U can buy two X70 vs. one Toyota Harrier
      2) Built Quality
      X70 is more Continental (Volkswagen Like),
      All steel parts are heavy & solid.
      Plastic parts not so Continental yet. (Quality) but still very good considering the price & BMW are also using lower quality plastics nowadays 😓.
      3) Finishing Quality
      This goes to the Harrier as it is better finished overall but it's also double the price.
      4) Driving Experience
      This is very subjective as it depends mostly on your driving style.
      As your question says, City Driving...
      Then the Harrier is more agile as it is Japanese.
      It's easier & lighter to move around in the city & tight parking spots. (Due to its 2.0T vs. weight).
      If you are travelling on the highway,
      The X70 would be more stable as it is Continental inclined.
      So, if u are currently driving a Japanese/Korean makes, the Harrier would feel the same or better.
      But
      If you have been driving Continental cars,
      Like Volkswagen, BMW or Audi's.
      Then you may feel that the Harrier is a bit floaty on the highway at higher speeds.
      5) Sound System
      Harrier has better sound quality but the generic display screen / entertainment screen is no match for the crisp & high Quality display of X70.
      If you are a Techy person who like Apple Car Play, Android Auto & Spotify,
      Only the X70 can satisfy you.
      The Bluetooth pairing is amazingly fast and responsive too.
      6) Speedometer
      X70 wins.
      7) Comfort
      I believe both are comfortable at speeds below 120km/h.
      In the city, no issues for both.
      8) Decision Making Questions
      a) Is Money an issue?
      No ---> Buy the Harrier, but look at Qs b),c)
      Yes ---> Buy the X 70
      b) Are u a Techy Nerd, who like to look at nice screens with animations & do cool stuff with your phone while driving?
      Eg. Play videos on you car entertainment screen while waiting for your wife,
      Get your music from Spotify / your Hp,
      Download photos to your car,
      Listen to Waze on your car speakers (image will not show, only sound),
      Have Hi Proton functions,
      Interchangeable speedometers & etc.
      Then buy ----> X70
      c) will you be keeping the car for more than 5 years ?
      If No & you are really super crazy rich & super Toyota Fan,
      then u can buy the Harrier as a last hurrah.
      Why? Coz most of the Tech Stuff are getting outdated.
      So if less than 5 years, you can still get 60% of the value. As Toyota Resale Value is quite good.
      If yes, it's safer to buy the X70 as it will be easier to sell the car 7-8 yrs down the road as it has the latest technology in the car.
      d) if you have a budget of $260k,
      I would suggest you look at Volvo XC60, Mercedes GLC & etc.
      These cars have better
      Technology,
      safety features (XC60).
      Wow Factor (look rich).
      Driver Satisfaction.
      Loads of Harriers on the road,
      not many people can differentiate the
      Grey Imports from the Local 2.0 T.
      e) if u follow logic,
      Buy X70, keep the rest of the money in the bank / other investments.
      If u follow your heart,
      Buy the car that you & your family will be happy most.
      f) 90% of the people out there are not able to tell the differences between cars,
      Especially if they have not driven the competitors.
      And not all the motoring journalists knows what they are talking about most of the time.
      Unlike Uncle Khong, who is a professional driver, then his views on ride, handling is most superior.
      U need to test the cars out yourself,
      How it drives, handles, feel and respond to your driving style.
      If you are married, bring your family.
      It shud be a car where the majority is happy with, else you will kena radio 'nagging' most of the time 😂.
      Good luck in finding your ideal car.

    There are people who gets lethargic fast and it is safer to drive long distance with those safety features like lane departure, blind spot or adaptive cruise control to minimize untoward incidents. These features could be "irritating" at times but for the sake of our lives, they're good to make a safer drive. I would say if the buyer could afford that (lump it into your car loan), get those safety features, like insurance, you wouldn't like to claim it but it's there if you ever need it.

    Thank you YS for all the informations about X70. You explained it better than any sales guy from the showroom. Great job !!
    I am considering to upgrade my car from Toyota Vios to X70 Executive. Reason is I like to travel and prefer to drive. So after the pandemic I am going to retire and do more travelling locally for a start. My questions :
    1) fuel consumption
    2) availability of parts and is it more expensive than other Japanese cars like Toyota
    3) in the video you didn't show whether the back seats can be folded or taken out. I have this crazy idea of doing some minor conversion like the campervan...
    Is crazy right?
    Thanks again

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did a video on fuel consumption - so how you drive will have a big impact on the fuel consumption since it is a turbo. In terms of rear seat, all seats can be removed, and can be folded. However, think of buying one of those rear extensions that fold out into a tent at the back of the vehicle. That would be a more practical solution.
      Or else, get a van- type vehicle like the Exora, which is quite cheap, especially secondhand. The floor is bigger and therefore would be even better as a camper. Of course the best is to get a Hiace or a Nissan 3.0 litre van. Those would really be good as campers.

    They should have installed 20 inches tyres to AWD executive to be more practical. AWD system works well and useful when the vehicle has ample ground clearance. If the vehicle cannot handle potholes and bumps then what is the use of AWD? Also they should have panaromic sunroof to AWD to make it real executive.

    Is the comfort level of ckd executive is almost on par with nappa leather premium?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The comfort level is determined by the chassis, suspension tuning, and seat, mostly due to the internal padding. The Nappa leather makes the contact with the skin a bit different, and other than that feeling, the comfort level is the same. In my opinion.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Willy, I don't have the exact numbers, and they will vary depending on driving styles. Under normal driving conditions, staying by the speed limits, one should get around 10 to 12 litres per 100 km.
      The 2WD ( front wheel drive only) version should get better consumption than the AWD. It is an auto system that normally sends drive only to the front wheels and sends drive to the rear only when there is any slippage, measured by wheel speed sensors

      Your point is noted, but many of our viewers seem interested. Subject matter is different. We will, however, try to put up more videos of other cars. Thanks for your feedback. We really appreciate all of it. Thanks for your support.

      YS Khong Driving Yeah don’t mean to disrespect your work and effort. It was very detail but the timing was late. Too many reviews done on x70 already. Had this video been done 3 months ago it would have been ideal. Timing is always key.
      Having said that if you do a review on x50 now. You are then ahead of the ball game.

    Premium is selling well but stock of other variants are piling up so proton employ these people to promote those slow moving models. Don't fall for it.

      Dude take your comment to Proton and tell them that's what you believe. This old man is doing a good job giving useful and truthful reviews and your comment is like a sore in my eyes. If you think proton is doing what you claimed they're doing, go buy the premium la, it also have the number 800 in it wat. Even if it's true, would u rather Proton sit down and just let themselves handle the losses for unsold vehicles? If Proton retrench Malaysian employees to cover losses will you be happy? Man, if someone accuse you for doing your job for the wrong reasons, I hope you know you are that someone too."Don't fall for it" my ass.

      The X70 is still CBU, so Proton is bringing in the cars according to bookings got. There is no oversupply issue like you said. The little available stock of Standard and Executive are from cancelled bookings and failed loan applications.
