You're right, I don't like ghost positions either, as far as automatic watches are concerned. But I'm not sure whether they make mecha quartz movements without date wheels. Since this kind of watch looks better without a date window I think they can be forgiven for the ghost position here. You won't need to pull the crown very often.
Thanks Simon. It's an attractive colour, but the issues you pointed out are quite obvious. I just checked the ceramic bezel on my Pulsar and noticed the 120 is perfect. With the 60 being lined up on the Watchdive, this means the bezel was badly manufactured and not aligned. Some sad news for me. Presently there's a trade war going on between Turkey and China and Turkey has put 100% tax on Chinese products over 20 Euro plus additional import fees which has resulted in two things. First, a lot of the watches are no longer being offered for delivery to Turkey (even this watch for example) and secondly, the final Chinese price is now not far off from buying an original Seiko or Orient diver. The taxes on those are high too but not as much. In Greece for example watches from bigger brands are 35% cheaper than Turkey so my new plan is a quick trip from Istanbul to Greece, on a tour bus twice a year, have a wee holiday, buy a couple of watches and just wear them coming back ! The dispute, sadly isn't even about watches, it's over dumping cheap industrial products like steel for construction, and machinery. Unfortunately watches got caught up in it. So , no Ali Express for me, at least until they sort out the trade dispute. Excellent review mate !

I can just walk into the Tissot boutique and pick one up, and a Tissot PRX 80 powermatic is $620 equivalent. $100 cheaper than a San Martin.
So nice to see an honest review! It is a visually stunning watch. I've had it in my cart for awhile, but just haven't felt like taking the plunge and buying it. QC is definitely a problem. If this were a $50 watch, I would be willing to let it slide, but for it's current price of around $100 (give or take with a sale) they need to do better.
Really nice looking watch. Love the color. I have several Mecha Quartz watches. Dan Henry, Straton, Seiko. They seem to be pretty reliable with several years battery life. Shame about the QC issues however.

Always amazes me how and why these companies submit such bad examples for review…. you’d think they would send a decent example for a detailed review and tear down. Thanks for the honest review, there are so many Ali express brand zealot reviewers out there that would overlook and not mention a lot of these issues.

The Pagani Design is literally half the price of this with essentially the same specifications (except the lumed bezel) and it has a regular caseback that doesn’t require a Rolex tool. Do you see any reason to pay such a large premium for the Watch Dives?
Imo, Sugess make the best daytona homage. Quality is top notch as expected, it's £350 All the components are way above pagani and other midtier ali brands. The brushed surfaces are a smidge better then my San Martins , the fit of the clasp and feel of the bracelet is also top notch. And its a Mechanical chrono.
This would be a pass for me. First, the VK63 makes me nuts with that useless 24 hour sundial slaved to the main hands. Also, this has just too many polished surfaces for me. It looks like a scratch magnet. Too bad about the misaligned bezel, because the lume on it is a nice bonus. However, too many negatives on this one. Great review!
i got the same one. i was disappointed in my whole order. i ordered it and 2 of their gmt's they all had issues. the cheaper steeldives were a better quality. the dial never resets to 12 just like yours
I just bought one and returning it back due to the off-center position of the second hand on the 12 o’clock position. I really could not tolerate this flaw.
Yup. They are junk. On mine, the hand on the 9'oclock sub dial literally popped off the dial after 3 days. Next, the sweep hand snapped off as well. All this within a week. Absolute garbage quality. I should have gone for the PD or Bliger versions.

I've got the Pagani PD 1644 which I'm very happy with, (apart from the dreadful lume), so I've got no use for this. Nice colour on that dial though. 👍

Watchdives is a confusing brand, they can't decide if they are PD level or SM level and it's making their product line very inconsistent.
