    Great tutorial @Myong Hong! Question for you. . . . if you wanted to add effects to a video like the one in your tutorial (perhaps an intro slide, an ending slide, some essential graphics that had the names of those in the wedding party, etc.), would you suggest doing that as you go? Or, would you suggest editing a copy of your exported video and edit THAT?

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes add those effects right on top of the multi lip edit. Wont be a problem and you’ll just end up spending more time doing the export edit you’re talking about.

I have everything set up as you do, but when I click on a different camera to change, the whole nested sequence switches to a different camera to stay on for the entire recording, rather than making cuts like yours. I'm not sure why or what to do...

      Hmm, check to make sure you have the main ‘arrow’ selection tool selected when you’re clicking on the little monitors. Did that make sense and did it work now?

    Hi Myong. Have you ever edited a narrative short or feature, and if so, does this method work when you're dealing with multiple camera angles AND multiple takes. For example, in your multi-cam window, can you have: 3 camera angles from take 1; 3 camera angels from take 2; 3 camera angles from take 3 and so on, then just click through them to edit it together, mixing different takes? And of course the audio from each take has to be synced to each camera angle take before starting the multi-camera edit.....

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! The clever thing is that if you have all 3 camera angles, with multiple takes, in one folder and let premiere creat a multi clip, it will create multiple ‘files’ that groups the 3 cameras together. If there are extra clips that the third camera didn’t listen and kept getting bunch of little shots when you told everyone to cut but they don’t listen, it’ll simply kick that clip out because it doesn’t have other clips to join. The used clips going to ‘processed clips’ folder.

    Having a challenge...a 3-camera shoot where one camera was 4k and the other 2 are 1080, so in the multicam, one needs to be resized (scale to frame size) but I don't see how to do that in the 3-camera grid as I get ready to switch in the sequence. Sorry if that's confusing...basically I'm wondering how/where to size the clip properly.
    Also, one of the cameras didn't have clear audio so the sync of the clips is off. How do I manually set the sync point so all 3 match?

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mention in the video that you write click, the already made multicam project window and open in timeline but I didn’t go into that detail. After you open that in timeline, you will see all the video files and audio files synced up and that is where are you scale up the HD video, sync up the videos, select the video that you want to use, color, your clips, and all the editing is done on that window. Hopefully you find it and you can see what’s going on.

      @@CameraToFreedom I appreciate the quick response...unfortunately, that flow isn't what's happening for me. I ended up wasting lots of time with an old fashioned workaround just to get it finished. Thanks for trying to help.

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  ปีที่แล้ว

      The slip and slide tool is very cool. I wouldn’t recommend these tools for multicam edit since it effects the real time of editing multicam but it’s amazing for when you make a short movie or a commercial or anything else. Since the slip tool will easily allow you to change the in and out point of your clip in your timeline without having to move around clips. This is difficult to explain without showing it to you in a video. Just don’t need to use it for multicam edit.

      I might’ve explained it in the video. Right after you create the multicam, you can right click on the project window is the multicam created and click on ‘open in timeline’. This will show you all the videos and audio that’s been synchronized in one timeline. Color correct and fix audio in this window and it will reflect on the multicam window.

    I have a question:
    Let's say you're working on a story utilizing many angles (12 or more including drone shots)...after you go through the live view editing process for multi-cam, what's the procedure to color correct afterwards, once you've adjusted or clicked each cam angle accordingly. What's the process after this? before exporting, for color correction? then taking the main timeline export, and reintroducing the color corrected timeline back into possibly a new project to add the b roll and fill in clips? I was told you could color correct afterwards, and add adjustment layer per each clip to get a LUT style you're going for with the overall timeline...but where do you pick up from there? Can you start adding clips and tracks on top of the Multi-cam edited Sequence you just did?.. or do you have to export then bring the multi-cam export back in the timeline to add the filler content?
    I could not find much online about the whole process after the live view. Your thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated. Thank you

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So much question in this comment but I’ll try to answer as much as I can understand you. You right click on your video file inside your project window that was created after you selected ‘create multicam’, after you right click on it, select ‘edit in timeline’. This will put all your videos in another timeline and you’ll be able to see all you video files laying on top of each other synced to the audio. You color correct that. If you want you can just color correct on the one timeline file it created. You also can put video files on top of the one multicam timeline file. It’s so much easier to show you then to explain to you.

    • @originaljoeblow
      @originaljoeblow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CameraToFreedom thank you for commenting back. Especially so quickly. Wish there was an easy way you could show me, or I could show you. I think I answered part of the question through trial and error, but it's taking more time than I wonder if it would take just doing it old fashioned. But I am wondering if you have about 12 angles, and need audio sync, afterwards can you start manipulating the clips and dropping filler content and b roll on tracks above the MC sequence? And also archival footage to be place above or in between, or does that mess up any future scenarios of being able to re-edit the multicam live view? Because I found out that you can color correct each clip from the processed sequence and it translates to the MC sequence, but the second you move a clip out of audio sync it seems like it would throw off the whole timeline if you chose to change some multi cam edits...is it best to edit the MC, then color correct those clips, then add the extra footage on top of the MC sequence? Or am I messing up the timeline if I start dropping clips in the MC sequence that arent part of the 12 angles? Because theres a lot more filler footage that need to be done and transitions, effects, etc. I dont want to start time remapping and adding transitions to the MC sequence if itll mess up the original cuts, or throw everything off balance. Hopefully what I'm saying makes sense. I'm just trying to find the most organized and efficient way of doing this. Thank you again for your response. Any additional help would be much appreciate

    • @michaelmcnarly

      I do a lot of multicam editing with gopros, which also breaks the clips up into separate 10 minute long videos. What I usually do is put them all on my timeline in order, highlight all of the clips, right click and create a nested clip. You can do this with all of your camera angles and then create your multicam clip. Maybe Myong has a better work around for this. Best of luck!

    • @CameraToFreedom

Isn't just creating a new SEQ from the Multicam clip enough? why also open the Multicam clip in timeline?

      You open up the multicam so you can color correct each camera. Then it automatically if reflected in the sequence. You will also need to select the correct audio in the multicam timeline because sometimes it picks the wrong audio to be the primary. Hopefully that made sense.

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn’t a setting to let you do that but there is a trick to do that. You open the multicam in time line so you see all the camera footages. You then create an adjustment layer then bring it onto the timeline. You make that adjustment later into 3 seconds long. You copy that adjustment layer and move it over to the next 3 second. Copy both then paste, copy 4 then paste, copy 8 then paste and so on. Very soon you’ll have bunch of adjustment layers on top that looks like bunch of teeth. You highlight all the adjustment layer then you bring it down to one of the video clip. This will chomp off all the 3 seconds by 3 seconds off. There you have it. Hopefully that made sense.

      What clip are you selecting again? You said again. Did something happen the first time you did it and what was it? Was it ‘open in timeline’? And that did work? But create a new sequence didn’t work? When something strange like that happens, you usually have to make sure you’re version is updated or downgrade. Once in a while a bug will occur when something normal like that shouldn’t happen. Try that first.

      @@CameraToFreedom this is my other account, I meant “ again”like how you select to create multi clip sequence and then go back and select it to do new sequence in timeline (I think is the order you explained) both times I make those selections it will either duplicate the screen or show all black, I did run into another issues with an error to match (for video to audio) and bypassed it by unlinking audio from video. But then nothing visual would play strangely even with audio not selected or even removed. I have a capable computer, I’ll try the downgrade or upgrade version today and get back with you! Thanks

    • @CameraToFreedom

      One reason why you would get black screen is because you have a long audio file you are syncing with and the video finally comes on in the middle of that. When you scrub through the newly create timeline with the created multi clip, you have to scrub to the middle of the timeline to finally find the video when the video finally starts. If that made sense. Scrub through and see if you video finally comes on in the middle. You can see a thin yellow bar on the top of the timeline that shows where the video is appearing.
