- I've longed for Harry (from Harry's Garage) to record a video with a Saab 900 Turbo, but alas, to date, it's never happened. So, I thought, why not record one myself?
This is a tongue-in-cheek, one-off video, and I hope Harry doesn't mind me taking over some of his favourite roads. I apologise for my lack of knowledge and that I simply don't have the insights that Harry brings to his videos. I know I've made some errors here, but I hope you enjoy seeing this beautifully designed car whizz around the familiar twists and turns you normally see with Harry at the wheel.
If you're coming to the Classic Motor Show at the NEC on 8-10 November, come and say hi and tell me about all the mistakes I've made in the video.
Fingers crossed that Harry doesn't sue me!?!
This is such a niche parody, but it's so fantastic
Thanks 👍
Big Fan of Harry's Garage and the T16s. Brill video and sure Harry will see the funny side of all your had work. big thumbs up from me.
Thanks David. The driving was great fun, but the video editing not so much. 😆
Paul, what a natural at presenting and a terrific overview of the iconic Saab 900! Morty looks amazing and did you proud in the video! One of the features of the 900 I love is the swoosh and click of the ventilation distribution dial - the hiss of the vacuum control is great! Keep the videos coming and hope to see you at another Saab gathering soon 👍🏼
You just reminded me that I filmed the vent noise. I must have lost it somewhere. Damn, what an omission as you’re dead right. Thanks for your comment. 👍
Great work.
Thank you!
Good impersonation of Harry’s garage! Love the cat. Enjoyed it anyway. I have a 9-3 LPT Convertible, had it nearly 7 years.
Yes, Dennis likes to get in on the act. 😼
Brilliant, excellent attention to detail 😂
Glad you liked it! 🙌
I had one of the eight valve with the water injection kit fitted , in black . I really loved that car . I’d love another. Such a icon and very different
I’d love to try an 8V to feel the difference. 8v versus 16v could be a good future video.
Harry's Garage is my favourite car channel for years. And although people say to never copy the original you just did a fantastic job with that! And added some sheer Saab passion to it. Two things Harry would have mentioned for sure: the best exhaust sound (burble) ever for a four cilinder car in automotive history. And the performance of the 16v turbo engine with intercooler and apc system. Which was 40 years ago a knock out (due to apc ;-)) for other brands with cars with more cilinders and prestige. But those are minor things in beautifully done Saab review. Next time a 9000 CC 2.3T?
Yes, you’re absolutely right. Harry would have so much to say which I missed. Let’s hope he gets a 900 on his channel soon. Thanks for watching. 🙌
Lol that intro was good expecting Harry to speak 😂
Glad you liked it. I hope Harry does get a 900 T16 in his (real) garage soon.
I have an 85 8v turbo as my daily. Loved the video. Subtle and niche. Just like the car. Nicely done
Thank you. I’d love to see how different the 8v feels to the 16v.
This is hilarious, very well done this parody of Harry Metcalfe 😂😂👌👌
Even the 2 watches, super 😂
Well spotted! ⌚️⌚️ I borrowed my girlfriend’s Apple Watch especially. If only she could lend me all the supercars to line up behind me!?!
Had 3 Saab's loved them all my 1st before i owned it belonged to my mum who bought it at about 15/16 months old . That was a 95 m reg 900Turbo se Convertible. I ended up with it about 4 years old after that followed a 55 plate 9-3 2.0Turbo vector convertible & my final been an 09 9-3 1.9CTDI Vector Sportwagon which i still have. If they were still in production id still buy them. To finally get them out of my system id love a Caddy BLS 2.0T or 2.8 V6.
My favourite cars of all time are the Rover SD1, the Saab 900 turbo and the Volvo 480 They all, still look amazing
I haven’t seen an SD1 for ages. I remember my local police had one when I was a child. Great car!
Super looking car! Had a lovely red T16 a couple of years back. Tore up a cylinder as a result of the original plastic APC solenoid no longer working and the substitute valve being set too high by a dubious Saab expert. Cost me a fortune! Experience has taught that there are very, very few mechanics who understand these cars.
I had a similar experience with my clutch. I’m trying to learn how to do things myself, but it’s not a skill that comes naturally to me. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for putting this up!
Another good Saab story.
Thanks for watching. 🙌
Great review !
Thanks for watching. 🙌
I don't remember my 85 four door 900 turbo being loud like I hear in these videos must've been the insulation huh?
Brilliantly Done
Thanks. 🙌
Excellent video in its own right and a brilliant HG parody… I do hope Harry has a sense of humour 😂
Thanks. I’m sure he does. I just hope his solicitors do too 😂
@@kemosaabe 😂
Amazing!
Thank you! 🙌
Dam another , when you drop the back seat lift the bottom seat via the pull cord, slide the head rest out and store them in there holders. then lock the back into the base/squab it'll lay flat, good vid just pointing out incase others don't know
Thanks Peter. I was being lazy when filming and didn't pull out the headrests. 😆
@@kemosaabe Nar all good but the base does lift forward and the seat back locks in alot of people dont know, just want them to be aware that's how you sleep . The head rest holding brackets are a feature to keep them out of the way, thanks again for a great vid
The key ignition down by the gear selector which i was told by a Saab salesman.was to prevent theft as the only way they could be driven would be in reverse.
I heard that too. Thanks for watching the video. 🙌
Interesting, shame there is a dig at the models that followed, but an interesting review of the T16v S.
Harry will be there at the NEC, which might be that fly on the wall moment.
Thank you. Sorry about the dig. I’ve never actually owned a later model, so what do I know. 🤗
Oh man. I really need to get my 1990 t16 back on the road again
Yes. We need to see more back on the roads. 🚗💨
I own a 1991 version (US Special Performance Group) - also in black! 206,000 miles and still going strong.
And it’ll keep going for another 200k too! Awesome.
Well read 👍
Beautiful car too, of course ❤
well done..Harry should have done a SAAB vid by now
Thanks. Maybe this will nudge him into doing a real review. 👍
Such a lovely motor. Small detail..straighten that turbo text in the grill😉
I know! I didn’t notice until I’d filmed a lot. Well spotted! 😂
Get good aftermarket head unit, amp and speakers and the stereo sound can be excellent.
I see you are driving in Harry Medcalf’s well traveled roads. He owned a 900 back in the day.
Did he? I didn’t know that. Yeah, I need to invest in a good amp and speaker for sure. Maybe that could be my winter project.
@@kemosaabemore than one. He mentions them in some of his videos.
😂 love it
Are you bringing Morty to Saabs at goodwood?
Sadly not. 😥
got the exact same car LHD :)
We’re the lucky ones. 🙌
Long live Morty Mortensen.
