Don’t get so nervous when the young lady is giving her feedback. She is awesome and well spoken. And she looks like my granddaughter so she is special.

Written by Dean Dillon & Linda Hargrove. First recorded by David Allen Coe 1981, went to #77 on the country charts. George Jones's 1983 version reached #2 on the Hot Country Singles chart. Chris 1st sang his version spur-of-the-moment during a soundcheck. The melody is almost the same as Etta James's "I'd Rather Go Blind." It was released as a promotional CD, reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart & #23 on the Billboard Hot 100.........Welcome to the Chris Stapleton rabbit hole. Enjoy!

Thank you for the information. Ace doesn't really know much about country, so this is a learning experience for him

Actually a fair number of technical differences from Fugi's rift used in the Ella James Song. However Chris has stated he does believe the rift his band was playing that day was likely inspired by their memory of "I'd Rather Go Blind". Their faulty memory is likely the reason for all the differences. Since no one is really positive he has publicly stated Fugi should be given credit to be fair.

I gotta say, you two have a great thing going here, and your daughter, bless her heart, is on point with her observations and input! I'm just an old southern girl and I love seeing a family enjoy amazing music together like this!

If you want to hear Cris's wife sing more please listen to Morgane Stapleton sing Amanda, and You are my Sunshine. Her voice is awesome in both of those.

Ok.....Chris does not suffer stage fright. It's a popular internet myth. I watched a video interview where he said while he was in college at Vanderbilt University, he sang on the street corner for an hour and made $40. That's when he decided to make music his career. So he left college to move to Nashville and started writing songs for other artists until he got the opportunity to front a band called The Steeledrivers. And for those that don't know what "front" means....he was the lead singer. That was in 2006. Prior to him meeting Morgane, his wife. Then he moved to lead a southern rock band called The Jompson Brothers. I guess maybe Morgane helped/pushed him to go solo, as I've not really been able to find anything about that aspect of his career. But she wasn't the driving force behind him singing. And he's also quoted in an article/interview as saying he loves the attention while he's performing. But wants a private life outside the business. Maybe because he looks at his wife while he's singing or that he's a relatively quiet kinda guy is the reason people came up with the whole stage fright nonsense. Who knows? There's plenty of video before his wife and after with him singing without her. Nice reaction guys.

You need to do The Jompson Brothers . It was a band Chris was in at one time. More of a rock n Blues band. Two songs: On the run and Barley Alive !! Rock on !!

Another great guitarist from days past is Roy Clark. I've heard he started out having stage fright and used humor to over come his stage fright and that carried as a part of his performance throughout his career. His version of 12th Street Rag, or Folsom Prison Blues would make for a good reaction. I'd suggest the live versions, and honestly the ones from when he was younger. I'd also suggest a live version of Junior Brown (maybe Freeborn Man) to see another great guitarist.

Show her Steve Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble...if she like Chris, she will love SRV&Trouble. Oh yeah show her Zeppelin 1973 Madison Square Garden! That will blow her away...especially “Since I’ve been loving her”! She’s young but has an old Soul.
