If I had never heard this song before and was blindfolded listening to it, I eould swear that it was a late '60's, early '70's R&B singer performing it. Chris Stapleton definitely has a lot of soul in his voice. ✌️
The guys behind him: JT Cure on bass has been with Chris for over 20 yrs.; Derek Mixon on drums has been with him almost as long; Dave Cobb, also on guitar has been Chris's producer since before the Traveler album I believe.
@Ace&Kathy Chris won Grammys, CMA’s etc. for this! Please react to his performance with Patty Loveless at the CMA Awards “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”. Patty released song years ago. Chris asked her to come sing it with him! It’s amazing!
THANKS GUYS FOR THE REVIEW OF THIS MASTERPIECE BY THE MASTER!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON COUNTRY MUSIC ESPECIALLY WITHIN THE LAST FEW YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MAY ASK WHY? WELL I' LL TELL YOU WHY. BEING A 66 YEAR OLD LOVER OF VARIOUS GENRES OF MUSIC FOR THE LAST 60 YEARS I CAN TESTIFY AS TO THE FACT THAT COUNTRY MUSIC OF TODAY HAS LITTLE RESEMBLANCE TO THE COUNTRY MUSIC OF MY YOUTH!!!!!!!!!!! TO THIS FACT I SAY THANK YOU TO THE GOOD LORD UP ABOVE NOT BECAUSE I DIDN'T ENJOY COUNTRY MUSIC WAY BACK THEN. IT'S FOR THE REASON THAT IT SHOULD BE. ALL MUSIC EVOLVES WHETHER WE WISH IT SO OR NOT. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah we were talking the other day listening to a country station how the song didn't even sound country. Country and Rock have been on a decline for years. The only thing saving rock right now is a few select bands and some bands doing a classic rock feel resurgence, like Greta Van Fleet, Dirty Honey, and The Struts
Ok you want to watch his live performances which sound better than his recordings. 1. Live impromptu performance of It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World 🌎 2. Sometimes I Cry 😢 live at the Bing Lounge 3. I Was Wrong live at Austin City Limits 4. Cold 🥶 live at the 2021 CMA 5. Hold On duet with H.E.R. at the CMA’s I think 2020. 6. Medley Duet with Justin Timberlake of Tennessee Whiskey 🥃/I Can’t Drink You Away CMA’s not sure of the year. 7. Live Duet with Jennifer Hudson at some awards show can’t remember the songs. 8. Tennessee Whiskey live performance at Austin City Limits. 9. Official Music Video Fire Away 10. Official Music Video Say Something Duet with Justin Timberlake. 11. DeathRow live performance at some country music awards show. 12. Live performance with Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson There’s much more and before he became a singer he was a master guitarist and songwriter for many famous artists across genres so you probably know his work. You can Google that and get a list of songs and artists. I’m still working on that.

It was basically a different genre of music
If it was just him and his 2 partners in crime, JT & Derek, I would think Blues.
Chris is a cross between blues, soul, R and B and a touch of comedy. He is his own genre.🔥

Just saw Chris last Thursday in concert!!!

He always gives such a passionate performance. The orchestra was only for this performance. Normally it is just his band

Out of all places to pause it, you pause it when he makes the guitar cry. 😅😅😅
In Ace's defense, there really wasn't enough reaction time between the end of the verse and the beginning of the solo
CS has lots of excellent songs like this. Death Row.=What are you listening to. - I was Wrong. - Fire Away. etc..
Added it to the list.

Chris is great. Chris is always better live. Peace
I've heard that when he was in high school he'd sing Jodeci songs on the bus... Is it me or do i hear a lil bit of K - Cee in him???
🔥👏
❤
pausing at all was sinful, pausing where you did was down right villainous
