I also saw that happen as I walked past- even if they HAD committed the offence they were charged with, there was absolutely no need have 4 or 5 big coppers to put the lad on the ground, kneel on him, and twist his arms up behind his back to cuff him. Didn't look like he was fighting or resisting in any way - entirely inappropriate level of force from the police. Glad to hear it's ended well!
Well done Eddy and glad that the lad's case was dismissed in court. I would sue GMP for wrongful arrest and wrongful imprisonment, as they would have been thrown in a police cell.
So would I, the ‘problem’ is the constables are never held personally liable, any fines are paid from tax payer’s money not the police’s personal capacity, but any compensation would be deserved.
As soon as Eddie showed the line of legislation I instantly saw the wording about being in an area from where the event can be viewed and knew that wasn’t the case. Why didn’t the police, prosecutors or even their solicitors spot that? It’s shocking that people can be treated like this purely because people are inept and don’t take the time to simply read the law. What a waste of time and money as well as putting these lads through that stress.
Me father used to tell me when growing up, be carefull when around manchester, the police are dodgy. Especially around football fans. Never trust them to this day and this backs it up further for me
Pleased for the lads.. Truly. ❤ The Police, recently ruined me. Sadly there was no one there to witness it. I am still trying to get the strength to make them accountable.
Well done Eddy! Great to see your intervention got a result. Just a pity it got as far as it did without someone on the other side getting a sensible head on and withdrawing the prosecution altogether.
Absolutely fantastic news Eddy and well done for letting your voice be heard. so with that said, I have a request for all the Newcastle fans who see this video who have not yet subscribed. Eddy and Tyneside life need your subscriptions lads and lasses. Lets make sure Tyneside Life has 100,000 followers by the beginning of the season. Great videos, great content, and after all, I don't know anyone who covers the toon and the surrounding areas as well as he does. Come on people, this lad deserves a huge pat on the back. WELL DONE TYNESIDE LIFE!!!! 👏👏👏
I watched the original video and thought as you did, it was heavy handed, but I have witnessed the same behaviour from over excited police officers on numerous occasions, just goes to show how little some of them think they know the law, but only know bits of it. Well done Eddie! justice has been done, shame the solicitor wasn’t a little braver as he decided to take the easy route! Hope the lads can move on and not let it affect them! UTV!
Hope the lads are suing Manchester police for wrongful arrest and out of pocket expenses. This is what is called in law remedy. They have been wronged and must be compensated for their suffering. Well done Eddy
Very well done Eddy, the Police nowadays think they are a law unto themselves but very often, like this case, are too often wrong. Also hats off to Man City fans for their well wishes.
I do agree that the police were heavy handed (I just missed it as I had just gone into stadium) but let’s be fair too and agree that flairs are probably best left away from football. Absolutely no excuse for the response and justice for as done so good for you for standing up for your principles.
In these sorts of cases, the process is the punishment. The conviction is a bonus. Everyone will think twice about lighting flares in a car park now. An activity the court has ruled is not illegal. It will have a chilling effect on rowdy behaviour. Mission accomplished as far as police are concerned.
Nice one Eddie, it would of been nice if you could of done the same for that chap that was banned for comments about Munich while you were recording! He was out of order but the punishment was harsh!
That all happened very quickly, without my knowledge, nor involvement mate. Even if I did, I wouldn’t have been able to help him as he had committed a criminal offence and the club banned him. The two lads I’ve helped here were charged with an offence they didn’t commit.
Semi final at old Trafford against shef utd a few years back we were railroaded out of Manchester by the gmp. Literally kettled until escorted (against many’s will, included shef fans caught up in the police kettle) and put on train. Prior to this we had been baton charged and in my case hit with said batons. There had been trouble around the pub we were in earlier that day between Huddersfield and Newcastle fans but that was prior to the match and this was sometime after the game. There were kids and families in that pub as well as Sheffield fans and there was no trouble in or around the pub at the time the police came in with full riot gear on. Indeed the atmosphere was very jubilant. At York the gmp left the train and Northumbria police took over. We complained to a copper from Northumbria that we had plans to spend the weekend in Liverpool but had been forced on to the train, he said Manchester police were notorious for treating football fans like this. The Sunday sun ran with the story as apparently a retired police chief from Northumbria had also been caught up / witnessed what unfolded . If I recall correctly the story ran for a while and Manchester police had / ran an investigation into the police actions of the day but I don’t know what the outcome was. I just recall the events. Oh and the statement by the police at the time that Newcastle fans were very drunk and disorderly, yet they allowed the train to restock the bar at York because we had drank it dry on the way back….. they were out of order , one actually said from behind his riot shield when holding us in some sort of loading bay at the train station , we love match days we get paid to be a firm , you lot just get nicked ….. well done Eddie for helping these guys
Eddie your a diamond wor kid that’s exactly what your people need someone with a voice that’s what’s lacking these days someone that stands up and says this is wrong you’re a credit to your people
Those coppers on the day couldn't care less if any one gets off with a technicality, as long as they can satisfy their egos and rub the small guy's nose in the dirt
I could go on about incidents that the police couldn’t be all that arsed to follow up or investigate! I won’t. BUT, suffice to say this was ridiculous! I mean these lads were just trying to make an atmosphere….to me the constabulary weren’t acting in any public interest.
Hey Eddie what a Great Idea starting in the Quayside making your way down the River to Shields crossing the Tyne then heading back up to the Tyne Bridge via Gateshead what a Crawl
Remember not to use Khan solicitors on the West Rd!!
A big well done to you mate from a City fan. Apologies for the disgraceful behaviour of our police in this matter.
👊🏻👍🏻
Well done ❤ that's brilliant this news especially for the two men in question. Your a cracking man eddie a true example of a true man. A Inspiration

What a waste of time and money as well as putting these lads through that stress.
Well done Eddy. You were in the right place at the right time to witness exactly what happened 👍
Me father used to tell me when growing up, be carefull when around manchester, the police are dodgy. Especially around football fans. Never trust them to this day and this backs it up further for me
Too bad these dudes had to feel the stress over the months.....so happy this was dismissed and good on ya Eddy for helping out.
Yes well done eddie man of the people 👏
This case should never have been sanctioned in the first place. What a waste of time and money. Well done Eddy....👍
Pleased for the lads.. Truly. ❤
The Police, recently ruined me. Sadly there was no one there to witness it. I am still trying to get the strength to make them accountable.
Huge well done for all your work on behalf of the two fans. Total injustice from the start. Thanks for the update mate
👊🏻👍🏻

👊🏻☝️👍🏻
great work Eddy, nice to know that Man city fans were also supportive!

Nice one Eddy 👍. Ridiculous how heavy handed the police went in.
Hope the lads are suing Manchester police for wrongful arrest and out of pocket expenses. This is what is called in law remedy. They have been wronged and must be compensated for their suffering. Well done Eddy
Aye, but they need proper solicitors who know what they're doing.
Well done Eddy. Absolutely top tier!
Well done Eddie you were spot on lad about mark and shaun just makes u think if you not there how whould this turn oot kidder well done lad ❤
Well done Eddie I’m like you when it comes to injustices👏I’m coming to Newcastle early September from Vancouver. Hope to see you about👍
I remember when this went down. Nice work, Eddy. 3 year ban would have been ridiculous.
👊🏻👍🏻
Police wrongfully arrest and solicitor advices guilty plea.
So, business as usual then.
Glad it worked out.
Top man Eddie. One for the common man. 😊
Well done Eddie. Great result. Legend.
Tyneside life champions for the fans well done you two 🎉🎉

Great news Eddy,so pleased to hear this,if you hadn't been there, who knows well done.
Not all Heros have a Baldy Tanned Heed, but you do!!! Great Job... Eddy The Legal Eagle!
😂
Very well done Eddy, the Police nowadays think they are a law unto themselves but very often, like this case, are too often wrong. Also hats off to Man City fans for their well wishes.
Awesome content and result mate, what an absolute diamond
Well done good sir!😎
This is why we take care of our own up here....THIS IS TYNESIDE LIFE !!!...Well done Eddy.

Police turn a blind eye to Man City fans holding flares every home game when team coach arrives. See for yourself on TH-cam 👍🏻
He looks a wrong un, should have been sent to prison
🤪🔫
Well done Eddy! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Well done Eddy. You didn’t need to get involved but you did and without your help the 2 lads would have been charged 👍
Well, they’d already been charged. My intervention caused the case to be dismissed before trial
Well done Eddie, champion of the people 👍
Count me in on next year's metro pub crawl. I'll buy a calendar.
Nice one Eddie, it would of been nice if you could of done the same for that chap that was banned for comments about Munich while you were recording! He was out of order but the punishment was harsh!

Well done Eddy my man. The lads should sue GMP. Just like The Met... corrupt!!

Thanks for sharing ☝️👊🏻👍🏻
Well done Eddy! You should have been a lawyer my friend😀
😅👊🏻
Mark - sound lad 👍 Nice to meet him yesterday.
Great News and well done Eddie !
I’ve seen Liverpool fans doing this with the away players bus nearly every home game
Well done football is many people’s lifeline outdated laws shouldn’t stop our once a week moment of freedom
Needs to be a complaint to GMP and claim for compensation.
Eddie your a diamond wor kid that’s exactly what your people need someone with a voice that’s what’s lacking these days someone that stands up and says this is wrong you’re a credit to your people
The UK Police have picked their side And it's Not Our Side !
Well done eddy
Wood like to see you make a video on the history of the Federation Brewery I worked there for twenty eight years,
The police in this country simply hate fun but are happy to overlook burgalries.
I feel sometimes solicitors are working for the police and not their clients
Wish i had known about the pub crawl .
Well done Eddy good job and well spotted
Thirteen fifteen control… love ya pal x
👊🏻
Well done Eddie for sticking up for those two
Well done Eddy lad 👏
👊🏻👍🏻
Police have lost the plot 😊. I left home (Bedlington) in 1985. But the Northeast is still home. Love watching your videos ❤
Good work Eddy.
Well done Eddy!
I’m red and white but well done!
Legend
Those coppers on the day couldn't care less if any one gets off with a technicality, as long as they can satisfy their egos and rub the small guy's nose in the dirt
Bit old to be letting flares off in a car park isn’t he
Up the toon ❤
I could go on about incidents that the police couldn’t be all that arsed to follow up or investigate! I won’t.
BUT, suffice to say this was ridiculous! I mean these lads were just trying to make an atmosphere….to me the constabulary weren’t acting in any public interest.
Nice one!
How's his sunglasses staying on his heed?
Magic 🪄
Nice one, Eddy! Pathetic it got dragged out this long.
Solicitor trying to drag it out so he can make more 💰💰💰💰💰
No mate. He would have made more money going to trial. It was laziness and not understanding the wording of the offence
is the bird who knows what a woman is allowed back?
Linzi Smith - No mate
now all he has to do is wait 6 mouths stop any bogus summary offences been made up by gmp. then take them for some compo
Its 6 months from the time of the offence, which happened 10 months ago
@@TynesideLife you're maths is better than mine Eddie
Did he get a fine for his hat he had on 😂
Mwahahaha
Well done Eddie proud of ya get in👍👌👌
He sounds like gascoinge
Yeah I would love the pub crawl again couldn't go yesterday as was at a wedding.
Hey Eddie what a Great Idea starting in the Quayside making your way down the River to Shields crossing the Tyne then heading back up to the Tyne Bridge via Gateshead what a Crawl
End of day he knows what the deal is what if that pyrotechnic had hit someone shall city come next season and let pyrotechnics off around the ground
He didn’t throw it. You’re on the wrong side of the line mate. Watch the video 👍🏻
City fans let flares off every home game when the home coach arrives 👍🏻
Well done Eddy, we Geordies look out for one another.
nice one eddy lad 🤝
Absolutely brilliant eddy ❤️👍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍well done
