My dad will get a kick out of your comment. I give him shit for it but I tell you what, when the milwaukee can't do it, that Black and Decker gets it done hahaha. Good eye!
It looks like it was the sway bar at first, then you removed the links and it stayed on by the lower control arms i guess? I’m about to find out tomorrow when I swap out the steering rack and sway bar links on my transit connect which has an identical setup.
Thanks for the kind words. I hope it goes smoothly for you. If you have any tips, post back onto here for others browsing the comments. I always seem to leave something out.

It is probably a very similar procedure, but I think the 2005 focus may have a slightly different rack part number. But overall I would expect them to be 99% the same.

Not looking forward to doing this on the ground. Lol. Those subframe bolts are probably gonna be awful to break loose with a bar. Lol. I got a notch worn in the rack and the steering binds up when i turn to the right. My pump is leaking pretty good too. Lol. So im swapping the rack, pump, and all those rusty lines at once. I got it from my local NAPA store.

It was maaaaaangled haha.
What did you leave in to lower the subframe without completely removing it? I saw you just had it hanging there without the jack.
Been a while since I did this job but it was probably the sway bar if I had to guess.

@austinray9224 definitely could be that. I don't even own the car anymore otherwise I'd pop my head down there and have a look. 🤣 Sorry about that.

Hi my friend, greetings from Costa Rica, The steering rack Focus ZX3 and Focus SVT It's the same .?
I think so but I'm not sure. I just asked the parts store for the part.
HI, do you know, st170 steering rack has some differences between simple focus mk1?
I don't know if it does or not. This is a US Spec SVT Focus. I am assuming the process is very similar.
My fiesta mk6 steering rack leaks somewhere from upper housing (neck). Is it enough to change seals from that area?
Boy that would probably be very hard to do. If it was my money I would want to just get a new rack and be done with it.
Did you have to get an alignment done once you finished or did you just do the alignment yourself?
I did get an alignment. You can get close but you'll never be as good as what an actual alignment shop gets you.
