I live not far from here, its hard to believe that such a great shed with many engines was here, now nothing at all is very sad, but nice to see footage like this cheers. And some classic traction still hanging on here.

One of my favourite haunts and fascinating to turn the clock back 20 years. The first thing that strikes me, surprisingly, is how well maintained the infrastructure appears now compared to then.

I wonder what that 86 was doing at Thornaby? Nearest electric wires are Darlington obviously not counting the DC overhead wires at Sunderland!Mind I don't think that the Metro 🚇 had got there in 1999/20?

I think it possibly failed near the Darlo area and got towed here and just never got fixed. Something like that anyway, was quite random.

RES 86s used to work Mail trains out of Low Fell Mail Terminal around this time i think 86416 probably failed on ECML and was dragged to Thornaby being the nearest maintenance depot.

Hi this was the EWS Carlisle to Nunthorpe Sandite train that covered the North East it was took in November 2001 sorry cannot help you with wagon information looking at some early photos i think they upgraded the wagons in either 2002 or 2003 and then a bit later the working went over to DRs

@@michaellewis335 Thankyou. I am modelling Teesside in the 1980's and found the formation very intersting. Have seen the Sandite model but is a later 2000 model. Just trying to work out what the wagon in center is as was thinging make something up similar. Loved the video, Thanks
