I bought my first video camera in 1992 and for nearly 30 years have been travelling around the country filming both Steam and Diesel locomotives my interest started as a young boy and my first job was at Carnforth MPD in the last years of steam in this country. Sadly that was the end of my railway career but I have collected a considerable amount of footage over the years. I still go out filmimg now but most of it is around my home in Morecambe Lancashire. I therefore decided to see if there was any interest in what i have filmed and and if so to put it on You Tube. As time allows I will transfer my footage which has been filmed in 8mm HI8 D8 and HDV on to you tube so other people can get enjoyment from it. Michael

It is fascinating to see how long the Class 37 has lasted in regular service.
Some old trains & you did a great job 👍
Thanks for your comment enjoyed filming them.
20:52 that three chime is one I’ve not heard of before!
Very interesting Mick. I never got there myself but wish I had. 😄🚂
Didn’t know the DVTs came down the Cross Country routes. And why would the 47s be dragging them, surely having push-pull operation made more sense?
In 2005 as Pendolinos took over scotland to Euston expresses the virgin mark 3 coaches became surplus. Freightliner 47s were used to bring the coaches south for either storage or scrap.
Redudant stock being moved south to Wembley no longer required when pendolinos took over.
A Freightliner 47/0 on Virgin stock, with two DVTs on the rear? Stock movement of now redundant stock?
Great footage Michael. A Junction I know quite well as family live close to there so it's good to see this archive footage
Thanks Ben its a nice location only ever been the one time called in on my way to Langollen.
Very very nice Mick and so different. 😄🚂
Thanks Peter its was a nice quiet location with a footbridge next to the signal box when i was there in 2007 dont know what it is like now but may be worth a another visit.
Good video! Never seen that west coast liveried class 31 before!
Glad you enjoyed video was looking at some footageof 31190 in October 2004 loco was still in Blue and Green then must have been painted maroon early 2005
Very nice Mick. Very interesting with a lot of unusual workings and a lot of variety of locos. 😄🚂

Many thanks! for your comments Peter glad you enjoyed it
Very nice

Ohh, I can't wait to see this video! 😮😅
Fabulous video Mick and great locations showing how busy it used to be with much variety. 😄🚂🥇
Many thanks!
Are the railroad tracks in the UK mostly continuous welded rail? I am personally a big fan of non welded rails and very I'm curious about the situation of railroad tracks in the UK!
Hi most of the main line tracks in the UK comprise of continuous welded rail but but there are still some secondary routes and rural lines that still have the old jointed track which produces a totaly different sound when running on them
Sorry about that i thought i had included the date in the write up it was 2006 - 2012 most people didnt use widescreen then and there was very little HD footage about
You could get a cheap camcorder capable of 720p HD widescreen several years before 2012. I have a short video of some cherry blossom, recorded in 2011 on my channel. The camera was a supposed Hitachi brand with an optical zoom. It was bought from a well-known auction site, and cost well less than £100. Probably nearer £50.
You are entitled to your point of view this footage was recorded many years ago on various cameras with different formats which are not all compatable i would suggest if the quality in your opinnon is not good enough stop watching the videos and let the people who are more inteterested in the content not just the quality.
@@michaellewis335 absolutely first class footage Mick and very rare. I really enjoy your videos to see what it was like in the good old days.
@@michaellewis335 OK. Point taken. You're the boss. It's your channel and your content.
When was this recorded? It's not even in the HD widescreen format people expect today.
😂😂😂
@@PeterCooper-ms4qf If you wish me to withdraw my comments, I will do so?
Very very nice Mick. Wonderful video. Plenty of different locomotives and locations. Fast moving and beautiful scenery. 😄🚂
Thanks Peter more variety locomotives in those
Brilliant film. I would only have been about 4 when all this was shot, but those EWS liveries and proper locos on the mainline bring back nice memories of my childhood. Thanks for sharing!
Nice film, brought back a few memories.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for the comment
That was a great railtour, and quite warm if I remember correctly!
Cheers Ben the good old days
Superb footage Michael 👏🏻
Some wonderfull clips of freight of days gone by michael, very enjoyable . 👍🎥
Thanks Stephen sadly we have lost a lot of freight over the years.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Great footage Michael. It’s a shame this line is barely used for freight these days.
Thanks Ben sadly the line is hardly used now only for the DMU service to Newcastle and an occasional Freight very different 20 years ago.
Absolutely fantastic video Mick. The best yet! Wonderful scenery, a wide variety of workings and locos. Unbelievable! 🚂😀
Cracking collection Michael. Great to see the line getting some proper use, back in the day. In terms of freight all that remains is the weekly Hartlepool flask train. Also a daily departmental in each direction between Carlisle New Yard and Tyne Yard.
Thanks ! in the early 2000s the line was very busy with freight traffic including coal , limestone, steel and the traffic from Workington Docks to Teeside also about teatime there used to be a Shieldmuir to London mail via Hexham sadly as you say hardly gets any use at all now.
An excellent video from my old local area to East Lancs/Yorkshire. I never travelled on that line. Thanks Michael for showing it.
Cheers John glad you enjoyed it
Thans Ben i always find it a nice day out to visit the area around Skipton and Hellifield if we are going to get 60s up to Rylstone would be like the old days and create some interest
Hi Ben it was good day out very enjoyable my previous visit to Nevill Hill would have been in steam days sadly no camera then
Superb video Michael. 60s should be working the Rylstone trains now so that will add to the fun in that area
Great footage Michael. Neville Hill has always looked after it's locos and trains
Excellent viewing for model railway period
That would be brilliant Michael
I really enjoyed that Michael. Glad to see you are showing more steam videos
Glad you enjoyed it John i will see if i can find some around your old stomping ground lostock hall and farrington.
Fantastic video Mick and a wonderful loco to film surrounded by beautiful countryside! 😁🚂
Absolutely gorgeous Mick. Such a beautiful line made for steam. 😁🚂
Nice to hear from you John after our recent meet up i will try to put more steam on here. Take care Michael 🙂
It's good to see that you are showing some videos of steam engines Michael. I hope that you show more in the future. John Ingham
Nice to see the HSTs and the wide variety of freights you saw. You certainly had a nice afternoon out Mick. 😁🚂
Yes really enjoyed it Peter 🙂
Very nice!
Thanks ! was up in lanarkshire visiting relations and fancied a trip on an HST to stirling had an enjoyable afternoon out probably 60 years since i was on stirling station 🙂
Excellent footage of a very very rare train formation and very very rare railtour. Really wonderful to watch! 😁🚂
13:05 I can remember hearing the paxman engined powercars and the virgin trains livery which they were incredibly noisy
5:36 I remember seeing that 321 in silverlink livery when I took a ride on one to Coventry
0:51 I remember seeing that 323 in the centro livery right up until 2007 where London midland took over the franchise and that lasted until 2017 and that got succeeded by West Midlands railway
6:08 Today royal Scot’s grey has returned back to its br green livery as of this year and she’s back to its old number d9000 And Saphos trains are now operating with that loco
Fabulous Mick, gosh we have lost so much interesting workings and your video epitomises the wonderful stuff that we used to see! 😁🚂
Skipton is a beautiful station and sits on an interesting line and in beautiful surroundings. Many interesting workings and locos were seen, also the very rare railtour. 😁🚂
