- Hey everyone!
Rick and I have been hanging out for the weekend doing some playing and generally enjoying music as it should be enjoyed! We recorded a few vids for your entertainment of which this is the first.
Just two guys enjoying some improvisation over a funky backing track!
More Suhr madness to come - hope you enjoy. These guitars sound awesome do they not!?
www.suhrguitars.com for more info on these beauties.
We hope you enjoy!
All the best,
Tom and Rick! - เพลง
actually none of the phrases in this and the other video are pre-planned. It's all total improvisation which is happening in the moment. Don't take that as a negative comment I just wanted clarify it. Thanks man!
Go Fuck Yourself.
@@Caprani83 who hurt u
that's what makes this great, even 10 years on. It's sad that too many guitarists these days are being hailed as the GOAT and the 'future of guitar' for playing some slick pre-composed licks on a Jared Dines shred collab but look helpless when being asked to improvise over a blues progression.
You guys are just amazing
so idol mr rick, i wish i could play like you
Rick Graham is also the wrestler Rob Van Dam when he is not playing fusion
Thanks man! That's exactly what this is all about; two guys loving the music ;)
Rick(on Tom's account)
Love this jam. Still listen 10 'years later!
Tom's feel, tone, and phrasing. My lord.
It's a pattern. Which is quite similar to Guthrie
The best.
you have to listen to alex hutchings man
Listening to playing like this and then recalling what was considered great playing in the decades past gives a striking contrast of skill advancement.
Love Rick for his amazing economy, speed and note choice. A shredder with virtually no peer.
Love Tom for his impeccable phrasing, tasty, tasty licks and smooth legato.
My opinion of course. Great jam.
I watched this when it first came out haha What a journey!
Appreciate the kind words although we agreed to improvise over this without resorting to licks we've used a million times before. At 2:50 I failed. That's why Tom's shuddering ;-)
@Rick Graham... I didn’t hear it and was listening closely.... was that not a good stank face from Tom? Nice phrasing and note choices, something to aspire to and a great skill to practice.
Whow, whow, whow. A double Power Pack. I need that kind of music for flying away and escaping to a another world. The virtuosity is reallly awesome. Exactly my taste of music.
I find it amazing how Tom quale can make a great guitarist sound ordinary purely because of his phrasing he literally makes his guitar sing phrasing at its best I've never heard playing like it
There is no competition here dude I think they are both guitar god in their own style but I prefer Rick Graham not just because his technical playing but I think he is more versatile than Tom and in terms of who has more tool in the trunk I think Rick is the winner because he has a lot of variety in terms of technique Tom Quayle is very technical too but the only thing that is very special about him is his legato but I never seen him use other technique unlike Rick I think Rick Graham has a lot more variety of technique than Tom Quayle and that's make him a very versatile.
@@jhonesmidtimbang I agree about versatility, however for this style of funk/fusion/jazz i prefer tom’s style. Really I think tom has better phrasing for this style, just my preference though
Damn! Just discovered this and this is ten years old.
That will be coming very soon ;)
I could listen to these guys all day long, I love the grove and indeed I'm inspired.
If thats a wedding ring on Rick's finger i hope his wife appreciates his guitar skills as much as everyone watching this video does.
finally I've found both of u in one video. love it so much. keep shred guys.
i definitely didn't appreciate this as much as i should have the first time i watched it years ago. you 2 are absolute trail blazers!
This is why you practice all the hard stuff. So you can forget about it and play what you hear.
There's no pretense or showing off here, it's not a race. Just a couple players having fun and sharing ideas.
tom you never cease to amaze me.
From the moment you start playing at 3:06 Tom, I couldn't help but find myself smiling at that part (the entire part until Rick's next turn) because it doesn't sound like improvisation at all; it sounds like a well thought out solo! I was genuinely sporting the hugest cheesy smile at the start of that part. Great job as usual guys, keep it up.
2.51 - lick from shawn lanes instructional video! u realy incorporated it into ur playing nicely and fluidly. for thoe who want to know, the lick is up a 2nd down a third and repeat. moved thru a major scale position, with a slight exemption when changing to the g string
Love the tone from that maple boarded Suhr!
This is just too incredible.
Both just monster players, I love the phrasing that these guys come up with. Just brilliant
So this is now my favourite jam.. amazing work guys.

man, rick graham produces some monster players/technicians/phrasers, how i would love to study for a minute under his auspices..quayle, gadiner...awesome..i could listen to this stuff all day, then play for 2 from the inspiration :) nice guys!!!
Great stuff !!

i want to transcribe every solo ever played by mr Quayle. every single second sounds awesomer than the awesome second before

It's really great to see two monster players with their beautiful guitars jamming side by side! Seems that Tom's house is the house of inspiration! :P
Just make a CD guys and release us from this torture! xD :)
Awesome !
Great playing guys :)
both are super cool.
Rick, I must say I really like that one little tasty phrase at 0:50! I see Tom liked it too ;-)
It's all awesome of course but that one really caught my attention.
that was sick!
AWESOME!! Cant wait :))
awesome. i hope to become this fluid improvising. i liked how tq was rhythmically open, if that makes sense
You guys play so much better than I ever will - but, endless 16th note runs with brief landings on a color notes, etc. - I would love to see what you guys could do with more space (sorry I am sure I'll get hammered for sharing, but just being honest)
Cannot believe that this was 10 years ago
I love Tom's guitar tone
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸
Muito louco, amei.
Brasil 💚💛
@chumbo
Yeah that was really cool.
So was 3:07....really nice soulful rhythmic feel!
Bloke on the right delivers good at the end. The end is actually rather good.
Rick reminding me of Steven Seagal here hah. Nice jam here, always fresh to listen to!
brb.....just going to throw my guitar out the window.
That was SO good!
Too much awesomness in just one freaking room!
Legendary
3:22 is one of my favorite licks of all time.
PLEASE where I can I get that amazing backing track?!?!
Amazing! Just add Guthrie and you have three of the greatest guitar players
__Vladimir__ couldnt be more true!!
that's a little too much...
Martin Miller would have to be in the mix.
@@DanielVerberne and mateus asato
Greg Koch.. cough cough
Ten years old!
Great jam
