Great, great demo! Thanks! These guitars are not substitutable - depending on what you want, you have to go for one or the other... but if you have the funds then there's good reason to have both. Love your playing and your breadth of guitar culture!
Nice demo and comparison. I would have thought the hallow body would have had more sustain acoustically than the center-block model. Thank you for your presentation.
Hi Duane, I ordered a new Collings i35LC Vintage in sunburst. Mark at Collings told me it's like a Brockburst color. Is that the color of the guitar you're playing in this video? Thanks!
What do you prefer between the soco and i35? I’m considering the i30 because id love a dog ear 330 from Collings next to my gibson335. Also do you prefer a 175 or the east side?
Great comparison. But I wish the Eastside had the Charlie Christian. I don't like PAFs (or whatever your gibonish humbuckers they are). They are not just to dark, they are also to muffled and muddy. The Soco needed to have had trestle bracing or have been a fully hollow body. Maybe that's why Collings did the I30. They also need a carved top hollow body and a laminated with trestle bracing with DeArmonds or filtertrons.
