Had the honor many years ago of meeting Charlie via working on his '49 Merc with Sexton's friend, Mercury Charlie. Sexton was just as laid back and friendly as he is in this vid.... He didn't know me from Adam, but since I was a friend of a friend, he talked to me as if I was a good friend of his. Awesome personality and an absolutely phenomenal guitarist.

hes the band leader when Austin has big benefit or award shows Will is pretty good too. i met his mom in my schlotskys on south congress one on her way to work one day. She would brag about Charlie and Will and was an angel to talk too, Good Austin
First time you ever play one after a lifetime of hit or miss with other guitars, you just wonder how everything is so perfect on them. I've had 7 on them. In order to get one that wasn't perfect, a prior owner had to file the nut slot low following instructions for an add on trem without understanding what he was doing or why.
I am as far from an elitist as you can get an I play a Soco Deluxe because it is just that amazing. So versatile and perfect for everything. I wont touch any of my Gibsons while this guitar is in my collection.
+Kevin Moore I own a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Gibson Howard Roberts, and one of these Collings SoCo's... the Collings destroys both Gibson's. Gibson's have not left their case in a year.
Gibson is every place because they are the best! I only see Fender and Gibson on the stages played by the greats! Never Collings, I know of them but it is another Les Paul copy.
+Kevin Moore - Budweiser sells a LOT of beer, not because it's good (it's dreadful swill) but because they spend BANK on advertising. Fender and Gibson make many fine instruments, but also invest heavily in advertising and image-making. Many makers produce instruments every bit as good, if not better than theirs. A lot of instruments you see on stage may LOOK like Fenders or Gibsons, but they're actually made by others. Collings have a stellar rep - have for years...
I'm not sure how you think that a semi hollow body guitar is a copy of a Les Paul guitar. That doesn't make a lot of sense. I also don't agree that just because you see Fenders and Gibsons everywhere that makes them the "best". I see more Kias than I do Ferraris but that hardly means that the Kia is a better car. Not to say that your opinion is wrong but given that you haven't even played the Collings I don't see how you could comment on what is better.

Great tone! Much more revealing than too many of the other Collings demos. Best demo I heard yet of the Throback pickups.

Nice guitar but most Les Paul copies are nice. I own two real Gibson's and have no use for rip offs.
