  • The Ultimate Warrior & Zach Even-Esh speak out on "the science" and over-analysis of everyone's own training. Its time to do less learning and more doing.

After watching this and hearing ultimate warrior talking about finding the answers in you and nobody else but you has them, I stopped seeing my therapist. I'm meditating again, I've lost 80lbs, going back to the gym starting today and start lifting again. I'm getting my GED and getting my life back. Thank you ultimate warriors for opening my eyes.

@eric izzett -well done brother. Keep up the good work and keep on listening to that inner "warrior voice"! Your story is Very inspirational. Keep on living the dream. There's some "warrior" in all of us, and stories like yours, further illustrate that in today's modern world, A world full of distractions, A World where everyone is easily offended a world where anyone can comment and give opinions When no one asked for them yet much like with your story, much like the story of others, you found the answers yourself, not on the Internet, not at the bar, And not from a therapist. Warriors methods of finding himself arnt for everyone but the principles they stand for and the discipline they are built on, Is something we can all relate to. Now if you'll excuse me, Mr. Resistance AKA me taking time to write this post, is getting in the way of me starting my workout 🤣.

GG Aaron I was deep into partying and drugs about 7 months ago. Until one day I gathered all my focus and realized I’m not going anywhere. I had gained about 20 lbs of fat, and I was depressed and seeking something else from life . I started lifting again, and eventually found myself interested in powerlifting. After that day I finally hit a PR on the bench, I never looked back. Lifting heavy is the only rush I desire now . Powerlifting probably saved my life from crashing

I like this video. For it is the opposite of mental gelding by other males. Most men have experienced mental gelding in one way or another whether it is from your dad or from your peers. We don't even realize that it's happening to us until we stop and think about some of the idiots that we meet in life that really don't have you in their best interest and they don't want you to ever become physically or mentally stronger than they are. I advise all of you to recognize and cut those people out of your life. You don't need them. Positive videos like this. You keep them in your mind. The rest is trash. Roy Jones Jr is a great example of how to live your life the right way. His father didn't want Roy to be better than he was so he did everything he could to cripple Roy. Roy got the hell away from him and became a big success. Recognize and cut those motherfuckers out of your life one way or the other. I don't even care if it's form a huntin trip gone wrong. Just tell them the bear did it.

If you discover something that works it's only a matter of time until the science catches up, but are you going to wait decades for it to catch up before taking action? Besides that a lot of the studies would be based off of what people found to be effective and they want to find out by what mechanism. A lot of stuff in science is short-term studies, small groups and inconclusive only to be contradicted by the very next study where one small variable was changed.

    Three things here, folks:
    1) lots of these guys are young,
    2) they are on 'roids or PEDs (like NFL players, pro wrestlers),
    3) NONE of this advice (even if you want to accept it, and I admit as a former prime-aged man who did a lot of sports / law enforcement workouts and tests, I sympathize with the fire and drive and need for decisiveness) is for people 50+.
I had two spurts of such really "aggressive" workouts at 50+: one, at age 50, where I tore my labram in right shoulder and one at 54 where I earned a herniation of my L5-S1 lumbar disk that since then has given me progressive stenosis (which means my feet and toes get numby without warning, along with streaks from my ass down the back of my leg, one or both of them; AND I get to look forward to that forever problem getting progressively worse as I age). Any more pounding on that disk through lifting or running promises to lead to major spinal surgery - which has a 50-50 chance of making it worse.
Btw, In 2009, age 47, following a session of old school dumbbell pullovers with a weight I could handle 10x, I discovered two days later that the odd feeling feeling in my neck and shoulder was a herniated disk at C5-C6, leading to no workouts and muscle relaxers for nine months. Today, I have about 90% strength on my left upper body movements (due to fried nerve tissue from the neural impingement of bicep and scapular muscles on that side). For months, I had a lot less than that and was a blessing I got enough back that I didn't have to allow a stranger with a blade to go ot work on my spinal region.
You can think too much about things in life; that's a good lesson to take to heart for sure. But if you are an older guy, you BETTER think hard about a DECISION to go hardcore with strength training. If we're talking about not overthinking how to apologize to a loved one, or to finally to undertake that project you've always dreamed of, that's one thing. But if you're 50+, trying to be 35 isn't aggressive; it's STUPID. Enjoy what you have before you: eat right, stretch, walk, bike, basic calisthenics and get on with your life and all the good things that it can be. Lots of ways you can be decisive.
