Selflessness? Living with compassion? Zen Buddhism explicitly says to not concern oneself with morals or improving the world. This is right there in Zen poems or the stories of the Zen masters. This is just some Western reimagining of what we "want" Zen Buddhism to be.

I mean buddha did say to live with compassion, or atleast that's what buddhism preaches. And buddhism has things you honestly shouldnt do so I would say there are morals in buddhism I dont know why you are saying this.

Well Zen is in the Mahayana vehicle of Buddhism which places the upmost importance on helping others as the supreme way of achieving awakening so what you're saying is totally incorrect. Zen poems or koans can be deliberately confusing or even contradictory to one another to try and break through our habital tendencies. But they are just tools. It is a very peculiar school for sure

This is completely inaccurate. The whole concept of the Bodhisattva is centered on helping others.

You are showing your ignorance. Buddhism has the teaching of nonself as well as the pivotal 8 fold path. These things are fundamental to Buddhism.
