Sally is one of the greatest characters not just NBA but in all of sport's. Many teammates said he woulda been a great stand-up comedian or comic writer if not for basketball.
Sal has such natural charisma... and he’s a smooth transitional conversationalist, great talent by both men. It’s always great when an interview reads like a great book. 👍
John Sally great interview. You made your guest feel relaxed and the focus was on Phil. He was allowed to speak at length without interruption making the interview interesting.
I'm here, but I haven't watched 1 second of the documentary. I lived it all and watching would remind me of the thorn in my side Mike was for my team all through the 90's.
I met Phil Jackson. Actually skipped rocks with him and his daughter on Flathead Lake in Montana. This was in 1992. He was one of the most intriguing people I have ever met.
I had the similar situation with Jerry Jones. Well. I was a cook in Florida. Jerry was with his family. I was told to leave him alone. Chef left i walked out. I asked if he was the famous cowboys owner. He smiled and said yes. I said go bears. Monsters will beat your great franchise this year. He smiled and i told him it was a pleasure. He smiled and took off his ring. It was a super bowl ring. He handed it to me. Smiling he said. I hope next time we meet your team has more then one ring. I smiled and actually showed off his ring. My chef not so happy but realized im a big fan. He let it slde. I lived near Pensacola. Home of emmit smith and roy jones jr.. Still not a fan but he was very nice
He was great on best damn sports show. IDK why he isn't on TV he's a great interviewer he can think on his feet he knows alot about sports other than basketball and he's got a hell of a sense of humor
Salley up to task as a sports commentator ...he's well read, articulate n lively ..honestly..I also met him a long beach grand pre, walking towards me; friendly.. Thanks for saying hello ..
I keep coming across one great Kobe story after another. I'm not even looking for them. Kobe was a great Man, father, basketball player and role model for kids and adults. RIP: Black Momba. This man will be sorely missed.
Oh yeah, I've watched a few of John Salley's last 7 or 8 interviews over the past 2yrs, and he's not only a diamond in the rough ""INTERVIEWER", but is an even kiel and no matter what seems to always have an answer for or a story about, the absolute many celebs he's been lucky to have entertained over his very long, luxurious, and historical NBA career!!!!! he personally knows he's been lucky to have at his interviews

Phil Jackson is the GREATEST COACH EVER and Michael Jordan is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. Nobody and I mean nobody will and can ever match what MJ has done. Won 3-peat, 3 finals MVP and 7 scoring titles then retired. He came back then won his second 3-peat, 3 more finals MVPs, and 3 more scoring titles. All in all he won 2 e-peat championships, 6 finals MVP, and 10 scoring titles all with the same team before he retired again from the Bulls for good.. Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the GOAT then, now and forever.
Not quite the full story. He left the Bulls at the end of the 98 season after the championship and went to the Washington Wizards. He played there 5 years and then retired in 2003. In the last 5 years his stats dwindled down and he didn't make the playoffs. That's how he finished his NBA career as a player.
@@geronimopratt7976 that's not quite the full story as well. He went to the Wizards a year after retiring the second time from the Bulls, but he went to be President of basketball operations. PJ sometimes gets over looked when people say superstars win championships and coaching is just a small factor. But how many rings have Shaq, Kobe, Pippen, and MJ won before and after being coached by him? Just one by Shaq with another great HC in Pat Riley. Phil got it wrong when he said Wilt missed 2 minutes of OT, Wilt missed 8 minutes because he was ejected by the ref with 8 minutes remaining in a game. Wilt averaged 48.5 minutes including OT that year, 61-62. Also 50 points and about 23 rebounds that year. But Bill Russell was MVP, and deserved it too.
