you can start at any age, I know people who get into martial arts in their 20's :)
what if Im overweight and late 20s?! 😅
@@shamrock31
That is fine. I’m 14 and I’m overweight. At first I had the same mindset as u but I overcame it quite quickly as I’ve been wanting to learn Taekwondo for years alr. You’ll soon see that weight doesn’t matter. It’s more of how u behave and act as a person. U will be better than the skinny ones if u listen carefully and try ur best.
@@damsie64 i wanna do mma. ive always been into mma and UFC. and id love to not only learn some of this, but to lose weight as well.
@@shamrock31
I also wanted to join MMA but it is actually very dangerous cuz there isn’t any guard things to protect ur body esp ur head. If u get hit in the head....u brain gonna be damaged. That’s why I decided to join Taekwondo instead since it’s more about kicks(which is what I wanna learn) and there’s protectors/guards. But since u like MMA more and u sound like someone who is very passionate about it, I’d say u go ahead and do MMA or UFC
@@shamrock31 16 and overweight still faster then usaul and flexible kicks u can even start at 40 if you want
Sounds like he said "jumping turn around ass kick" which sounds way more awesome than "Tornado Kick"
hahaha
This will henceforth be the "jumping turn around ass kick".
* bangs his gavel* Decreed!
i
agree
I love taekwondo. I’m a red belt testing brown in a week. Was having a lot of trouble perfecting this kick. Thanks so much. Very important tips. Waiting for your body to turn fully before following thru. I’ll finally look like a black belt candidate. Looking forward to seeing your other kick lesson to make sure I’m the best I can be. Thanks for sharing. You’re a really great teacher.
unlike in other tornado kick tutorials wherein you have to take a step forward facing the other way and as you bring the other leg spinning making a jump then the kick. your tutorial is fast not detectable cant be anticipated due to the twisting and not the too obvious chambering prior to the kick. that's what makes it fast and undetectable.
I appreciate your comment.
It’s a disguise technique. If you throw a lot of spinning techniques such as the spinning back kick or wheel kick, you can surprise your opponent with the tornado kick. Combat sports is 90% mental game.
hi master woo, im not a taekwondo practitioner but I tried this kick to an intruder and to my surprise the last thing I saw is that hes down holding his right rib cage and grimacing in pain then he ran away. my kick wasn't that high so I got him in his mid section and hit the target, this kick is not only gracefull and beautifull but also effective. this is my favorite kick. thanks for your tutorial master woo.
Wow and you are very welcome!
TaekwonWoo and just asking I’m on the floor laughing because of the reply 😂
just asking at the place i train at we learn self defense all the time
Best teacher on TH-cam... thank you 🙏🏽
@henrik salte I am a second degree black belt and have been practicing Tae Kwon Do for 10 years. I just wanted to say that the tornado kick is not ineffective if you know how to do it. It takes a lot of practice to make this kick work. Many fights have ended with a tornado kick to the face. The tornado kick is basically a stronger version of the round kick. The spin and the jump adds extra power. In the TKD school that I go to and teach at, we wait and learn the tornado kick around red belt level. By then, they should know how to do round kicks properly with much power. Adding the "tornado" part should be fairly easy for them by then.
Thanks for the great comment.
Madison Morris how wffective is the butterfly kick in a self defense situation
@@loveisrag3 useless.. do the simple push doll yeok in the face. Once your opponent falls. just run. Why run? Cause TKD technique wont work if your opponent know you're TKD practician and the counter of your skill just get close to you and punch you hard.... the answer is just run....
U got any videos or instagram so i can learn taekwondo from you
If youre sparring in taekwondo it is hard to land a hit on your opponent with the tornado kick as your opponent is expecting and waiting a kick out of you already is ready to move. But in day to day basis if someone picks on you, they might expect a punch and less of a kick so started it off with a tornado kick could be effective
Master Woo, thank you for your amazing video. Keep teaching. You are doing great.😊
Annyeonghaseyo Kwan Jang Nim, I am greatful following this video. The tornado kick was very challenging to me due to my length ( 6´6) but since I found your video and followed your instructions, I have become a "master" in it. And it just took me more than a week in hard training. Kamsa hamnida
I've been doing tae kwon do for nearly 7 years I'm currently 14. this is my favorite kick as a second degree black belt.
you are a very amazing teacher.I am a slow hitter but i watch your videos to keep myself going.
Master Woo, you are an EXCELLENT teacher! I'm in Houston, TX and we have some really good schools, and I have been to a few, including Lopez TKD (which by the way is an excellent school also). I really enjoy the way you breakdown the technique and make it very easy to learn. As we all know, the basics are the most important! Thank you for posting! Keep 'em coming!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I'll keep them coming!
Thank you for this.

start as soon as you can, even if it means taking it at age 16 while you still have time ;D

Disagree . I Started training Kick boxing and Thai Boxing when i was 19 . I'm 23 now and i'm doing pretty good :) . When i started i was 270 pounds (Answer for the people that are saying they are too fat for that ) . I Dropped 75 pounds and still dropping i'm 195 right now :) . It sounds cheesy but as long as you really want it you can do it :)

Very good master woo when I saw yellow belter hes on tornado kick
The nice thing about taekwondo, and any type of martial art, is that anyone can start at any age. I started when i was nine and got my black belt at fourteen. Your age really doesn't affect your ability. If you want to do it, then do it. It's so much fun.
Thanks for the great comment.
thats great
thank for the video
You are very welcome, thank you for your support.
@MrEran1996 There is a place for both the inside crescent kick (which I think is what you're suggesting) and the roundhouse with this technique. The crescent is easier for most people to get high, but the roundhouse will have more power. And, generally, if you're doing kicks of this sort, height of the kick should no longer be a problem for you.
I was 3 days when you uploidid this video master

Master Woo , I have a question.
Currently, I am in Tae Kwon Do. Would you think Hapkido would be hard for me to learn since I know forms now... or would it be easier?
you experienced it very well ☺☺ and I will try it if can😆😆☺😋😜😝
Keep it up!
If I use this kick in sparring I like to use it right after a back kick where i dont put my foot down but instead transition straight into this kick.
that will be a nice try.
That's what I do

Hy master, I have a question for you. That I just did it about 15 repitition for each of my legs and then I got dizzy in my head and until now really dizzy master. Did I do something wrong or I need some stretching before doing that ?please reply me master
Im 2nd gup too. Start with your right leg back (sparring stance) slowly turn like you are going to do a turning back kick. Stop. Lift up Left knee when you are facing away from your target while turning, when your knee is facing with your target, release the leg to kick, don't forget to jump. Take your time, do it slow and ask your classmates for help.
thanks
