@Wakanakapisi Hello them's the risk you take to look like a video game, action hero. Lol. I wouldn't do it, I'm just coming up with a suitable use for this technique. You also better be fighting on a nice flat, level, surface.
*Me trying to do this kick My whole body: "you're gonna fall on your ass" *Me actually fell on my butt My whole body: "Told ya" You did great, Sensei Seth. The guy's kicks are crazy
Uhhhh Dave is the real deal. That is first class instruction right there, his tips were all spot on. I never tried those spinning one leg jump kicks for fear of blowing out a knee. Jumping and landing on the same leg while spinning, never seemed safe to me, call me chicken.
MAN!!!! This is a hard kick to get down!! But I’m understanding the breakdown that y’all gave me! And I have gotten way better than where I was. I just got to get it in my head that jumping and landing on the same leg is ok. Cause I’m scared that I mite broke something and that’s keeping me from jumping higher to do the kick. But I’m keep at it until I get this kick perfect!!! Thanks Masters!!!
But Master Wright repeated its "not that difficult" but Seth whose been train I ng a couple months can't quite perfect it. So is Wright dissing Seth? It's actually the best instruction from David, that I've seen yet, however I always taught you must return immediately to same location or fighting stance and flailing you leg out plus being out of balance in finishing kind of makes it mostly unusable
Going to learn this. After 15 years of training for bone breaking leg kicks I think this will be a fun kick Great video Getting through the entire collection of sensei Seth videos
8:57 Closer tight your right arm on your armpit when spinning. Swinging your arms will help you turn and keep your balance. That's how we Koreans learn the 540 Hook Kick or other spinning kicks. 9:28 Your right arm is too far from your side when spinning. David's arm too though.
David is a super good instructor and he makes you feel safe of what he teaches when he demonstrates it because he has a near perfect form since that 540 step up was a good instruction and he lands on the T and he is stable when he lands that's commendable and he also made the close-in open-up or tuck-in tuck-out his habit I can hope for this much proficiency 100 years later
Love or hate tkd, these guys are super flexible and light on their feet which can become a huge advantage in a real life situation. I currently take BJJ and did some kickboxing for a year prior and stretching is not something that is mandatory rather than suggested in these schools(during your own time). If it weren't for tkd in my younger days, I would be much less rounded martial artist.
Ahh, Was like watching a beautiful newborn dear learning to walk for the first time. Congratulations you did it. Soon you will be majestic. Then shot by hunters, mounted and admired for all time.
@@SenseiSeth nice point man. It is like in hardcore mountain biking also(downhill and dirtjump) wherein if you believe you can not do a certain routine for the first time in your mind, it is the moment that you lost. But if you believe that is possible and with constant practice and passion, a certain skill is attainable especially knowing that you have colleagues that already achieved it.
All this kind of kick are all about find the correct setup. Everyone have one and do not work the same way for everyone. Keep that in mind 👌🏼💪🏼 awesome video 🙏🏼💯
waiting for the day you say "subscribe or i'll 540 hook kick you" ;) also a few tips for your 540, 1. like he said ,jumping on the spot is super important, you almost want to drill the single leg jump as a separate drill eg. step forward, jump and land on the same spot 2. rely less on your step and initial spin for rotation, it's what's throwing your body off balance. focus on the jump, and use your arms to bring yourself around to hook kick position 3.your posture on the spin is affecting your balance, if you can keep your body as upright as possible until the hook kick part, it'll be more stable during your spin 4. minor detail but you'll also notice your friend tucks in his non kicking leg waaaaaay more on the jump than you do, i'm not sure why it's important, but i've ended up doing it anyway
There’s technically two ways to do this: the vertical spin or the double pump. The vertical spin is where your body stays upright the entire time. This usually makes it harder to open up your hips to do a proper hook kick, so most people who do the vertical spin will do a crescent kick instead. The double pump is the one where you tuck in your non kicking leg. For this one, you usually treat it like a 540 round kick but without the round kick, hence the chambering of the non kicking leg. People who double pump tend to lean back more, which makes it easier to open up your hips for a better kick but can also take away from your balance.
@@tristantsang4325 yeah I don’t double pump cuz I keep jumping backwards when I do. But on the vertical spin I do lean back when I stick my leg out for the hook, so.... best of both worlds?
@@lightxxatu yeah, it's just a really big preference thing. Personally I like to double pump because it helps me get more height so I have more time to spot. Plus, it's good practice for other spinning moves that aren't completely vertical and go off axis, like the 540 round or sideswipe
idk how, but with his instructions bout the 560° hook kick, i learned how to do the tornado kick perfectly without mistakes, Sensei Wright is a miracle
i used to teach at master chang’s martial arts and the few things i can say about the 540 kick is that you wanna focus on your hand and knee up synchronization is key. secondly you wanna know when to lift your knee up for the lift of the 540
I can 540. I can btwist. I can aerial. I’ve legit wanted this kick for 19 years and I could never get it. I’m gonna follow this video for the rest of the year until I get it lol. I’m inspired.
watch gnt's tutorial on 540 hook. Not necessarily to learn from but to understand the different ways of doing the spin in the air. In your video you're learning what gnt calls vertical spin 540 hook. try comparing it to the taekwondo version. You'll notice that it look a lot different to the other technique. For that harder version learning the 540 roundhouse is absolutely necessary. It teaches you getting that hip over the kicking leg and not around it

I just have to jump a little sideways before) I bet this video will help me get it right, thanks!
That dude has crazy flexibility. You can tell in his kicks.
For sure
thats what u need for taekwondo
The control, balance and strength is prime! Along with the height, thats a deadly TWD practitioner.
id say the most important thing for taekwondo is being limber so a master will of course be siper flexible and fast
That’s one key thing I learned from taekwondo; you gotta be flexible to perform the best trick and cheat kicks.
master david be like "yea it's super simple, just focus a bit, loosen up, and now start levitating over the grand canyon"
This is the kick you throw in a street fight as the guy is already knocked out and falling, just for that final pizzazz.
