  • I demonstrate root clipping for volume on wavy/curly hair with no weird separations. This method is great for all hair types but especially helpful for fine, low density hair where the scalp is already more visible.

    It took me a LOT of experimentation before stumbling upon the idea of using little claw clips at the root! Those metal ones ALWAYS snagged my hair & I was getting a lot of breakage from it. I know this video is going to be a game changer for a lot of people! No one talks about it that much

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The metal ones work great for pin curls and holding rollers in place but even then they snag if you’re not careful. I’m hoping this reaches the people who are struggling and need this information. The idea for the format of the video (do this not this) came form you so thank you for that!

      @@CurlyChelle547: is it okay to use another alligator clip on the other side of the hair so that both sides will get the puff they need? I noticed you only use 1 alligator clip on your left side of the head.

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@luckykatz yes absolutely! I only used the one because that’s really all I needed. That side tends to lay flatter on me.

    Best tutorial ever. You hit the part about separation which is why my hair always looked sparse when I would clip. You could see my scalp and the partings I had made to clip the roots.

    Your hair is BEAUTIFUL and this is one of the most helpful videos I have found!! My hair is "white" at the roots (colored purple on the lengths) and fine 2A/B so those scalp lines drive me crazy....my grey hair makes it look like I am balder than I am. So excited to try this. Thank you!!

    I just ordered a bunch of claw clips and then your video was recommended and you remind me of my sister. ^^ Thanks for the tips that I wouldn't have thought of. For years I have basically flipped my hair all over while drying it and let it get really frizzy just to get volume in the roots and then I'd have to spray the ends and to fix the curls. So basically my hair would have to dry twice to style it. I've been learning so much from TH-cam on how to save time with my hair!!

    Thanks! I always hated root clipping for the reasons you mentioned but am looking for ways to create root volume, so I’ll think about buying some claw clips. I always felt like root clipping exposed small areas of my scalp, which is the opposite of what I want.

I have also tried the Curl Keeper clips, they are pretty good but my favorite are the small claw clips. Just started watching your videos recently you are a wealth of knowledge thanks for all the information I'm still transitioning my hair started June 2021 finally now it starting to get wavy after not knowing I had wavy hair since 8th grade or so I'm 46 loads of heat damage from flat iron but that mostly gone had to stop the video to say I love the ideal of the huge claw clip I do an off center part not really side part or in middle and I have hair loss in one part of my root section towards back I style to cover it but it doesn't always stay covered it separates some times this would really help that I think and give my flat straight roots some lift I have waves that start above my ears and dense hair

    I had good results with the double pronged metal clips and mostly air drying for years, but always had to remove them very carefully to avoid hair damage. I recently started using medium sized plastic claw clips and they work quite well most of the time.
    You have some sensible techniques for clipping, I'll try them next time I try clipping my hair, hopefully that will work out better than the last time I tried this, which was overall a disaster. 🙃 (Doesn't help that I need a haircut badly and I may have used the wrong products in my hair this time around. 😉 )
    Thanks for the video!

    I bought the curl keeper ones & hardly use them. I use a combo of the mini (not the crazy tiny 1/2cm ones) that are about as wide as my ring finger & the small ones that are a bit wider than my thumb. It works best for me around 80% dry
