    I have taken a lot of advice from this man's videos and all of it has served me well. This is no different. I have been using a neck harness to finish my workouts. A simple neck harness I bought from Amazon for like $8, is adjustable and has the chains attached. I put a 15-25 lb kettlebell on it and do continuous reps for like 4-5 minutes to finish off my workouts. I just put on any rock song I like and spit out reps. I feel my neck getting stronger every time. No BS!

    Its surprising with a lot if not many bodybuilders I see that they train all their muscles but never train their necks or forearms, you can tell a person who trains their neck instantly. I have trained mine most of my life, I started by doing the bridge front and back and now I train with a weight belt and rope, I put the fat bit of the belt behind my head if I'm training the back of my neck then attach a weight plate to the rope, something else I know as a fact as well is this I was at a house party years ago and got into an altercation with someone, as I turned to his side I saw him put his beer bottle down I knew what was coming , but as I was holding two bottles in each hand there was not much I could do but lower my chin grit my teeth and think of my neck traing routine, he hit me twice flush on my jaw, and I swear and this was noticed I barely flinched with the impact, bottom line is having a strong neck sometimes pays.

    Forum, I need some advice: I am 49 years old and a stage 4 throat cancer survivor...chemo and radiation therapies ate approx. 1/3 of my total body mass (240 lbs down to 165 lbs at my lowest point) but I have pushed through, recovered and am holding at my ideal weight of 223 lbs (pretty good fit for my 6'3" frame). I was big by nature before (2XL -- and a 54 in a suit jacket) but the cancer ate away everything including two inches off of my neck -- I am now a 16 1/2" collar where pre-cancer I was 18 1/2" -- and my shoulders are a full four inches more narrow than before -- I am now a "large" where I was a 2XL. None of my old clothes fit and feel like I have a neck like a chicken. I am back in the gym five days a week and alternating upper and lower workouts but my focus is upper torso, building back size and muscle. But in three months I have gained MAYBE half of an inch on my neck, now approaching a 17-inch collar. I bought a head and harness and am doing straight lifts (hands on knees, head up and down) for 50 reps in a single set each day, using a single 10-lb weight on the chain. I need some guidance from someone who understands that I want to thicken my neck without injury. I have 10- and 20-lb weights and can go 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 lbs with the current weight set. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I appreciate any advice you can give me as I fight to get back closer to my pre-cancer look and increase my functionality.

      Hi, I'm not an expert but if I was in your shoes I would incorporate isometric exercises e.g., just holding your head straight whilst using resistance from your hands.
      If I used the head harness I would focus on less weight and I would avoid going to absolute muscle failure. Focus more on higher reps and more sets instead of increased weight and intensity and only train neck if it is comfortable and doesn't hurt.
      You could indirectly train the neck heavily by doing exercises like a rack pull or heavy farmer's walk which I think would be safer than doing heavy direct neck exercises.

    ¿ Are you not doing acumulative damage to your neck vertebral discs, which can produce hernias ? ¿ Wouldn't be better to do isometric work with neck stright ( with or without loads ) in order to avoid disc bulging ? For me, It looks the same mechanism that cause back herniated discs.

    I recently found out( after an MRI ) that I have 2 disc protusions(C2-4), 2 disc bulges(C4-6) and 1 herniated disc(C6-7) in my cervical spine. I have absolutely zero neck pain, normal movement and just found this out after experiencing some tingling in left arm( it was coming from C5-6) that has subsided in the meantime. I don't do jiu jitsu, I do go to the gym but not doing squats, overhead presses or anything that could have provoked this so I am absolutely puzzled by this diagnosis. In any case, a physio therapist has suggested to me to do neck extensions using a neck harness. Are these safe considering the situation in my neck( which gives me no symptoms)

    • @MODIFI3R
      @MODIFI3R ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, I’m a physiotherapist. If you have no symptoms anymore then there isn’t really a point doing these exercises as you no longer have pain. Hope that helps

    • @Elassyahmed
      @Elassyahmed ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a very similar condition but is a bit advanced than yours (Imagine I am you from the future). There is a saying 'You are not your scans/images' meaning that MRIs showing degenerative disc disease doesn't mean pain and also vice versa (some people have pain with not much showing on the scans).
      My advice would be to keep strengthening your neck to avoid the condition getting worse, i.e. another herniation or the tingling becomes severe pain. Think of it as a way to protect your future self from hell.

      certainly. Can also use good quality elastic bands (the kind that have carabiners on the end). Tbh, this, looped elastic bands (eg. Undersun type), suspension trainer workouts (trx or 'nossk' offbrand) are really good ways for a high schooler to get into resistance training. Bands and suspension trainers actually use many muscles at once, vs traditional weights which mostly just use one muscle while the rest are sitting and relaxing.
