    Ironside is a Universal television series that ran on NBC from September 14, 1967, to January 16, 1975. The show starred Raymond Burr as a paraplegic Chief of Detectives, Robert T. Ironside. The character debuted on March 28, 1967, in a TV movie called "A Man Called Ironside". When the show was broadcast in the United Kingdom,
    it was initially under that same title. The show earned Burr six Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations. The show revolved around former San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Chief of Detectives Robert T. Ironside (Raymond Burr), a veteran of more than 20 years of police service who was forced to retire from the department after a sniper's bullet paralyzed him from the waist down, causing him to use a wheelchair. The series enjoyed an eight-season run on NBC, drawing respectable, if not always high, ratings.
    As the eighth season began, Universal released a syndicated rerun package of episodes from earlier seasons under the title The Raymond Burr Show, reflecting the practice of that time to differentiate original network episodes from syndicated reruns whenever possible. Upon NBC's mid-season cancellation, however, the syndicated episodes reverted to the Ironside title.

      @@kloakovalimonadaPlease tell me I'm not mistaken to say that the television medium is not as good nor as relevant as ot once was. We nearly couldn't wait for the night "our show" would be on, and make a point of being home to watch it. I have not even owned a television since 2018 (No! I'm not homeless, nor in prison!). Television just does not hold the attention that it used to. For me anyway. And, now I can see many of the good old shows at the tap of a screen, on my tablet or computer. Ironside and the short lived series Longstreet were milestones. A man in a wheelchair crime fighting. A guy who got blinded still an investigator. In those days of the 60’s and early 70’s never before had that happened. They did have a lawyer /cop show in the early 90’s called Reasonable Doubts with deaf actress Marlee Marlin and actor Mark Harmon. But then it all stopped.

      @lisanidog8178 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@azimisyauqieabdulwahab9401 I saw the pilot movie that led to Ironside as a series yesterday. His shooter was NOT unknown because with good detective work Ironside discovered who it was. She was a woman artist who killed a young man who refused to kill Ironside who had sent the man up when he was a juvenile. She was angry that the young man not only refused to go after Ironside but didn’t want to date her any more with her being 10 years older. In the pilot we get introduced to Sergeant Brown, Officer Whitfield and Mark Sanger. The show ran from 1967 to 1975 and the pilot was from 1967. Ironside was always a cop! But he turned consultant after he got paralyzed and his first case as a consultant was to find his shooter which he did by the end of the pilot. But the point is it was a milestone of television having a main character in a wheelchair. That never happened before, then came along Longstreet from 1971-1972 about an insurance investigator blinded by a bomb. And then of course Reasonable Doubts with Mark Harmon and Marlee Matlin whose deaf, but played a lawyer from 1991-1993. After those shows I haven’t seen any more shows that had any characters that they had. I guess you run out of ideas for a wheelchair, blind, and deaf characters because I haven’t seen any new shows with that. Ironside I watch every weekday. Two hours. Burr wasn’t bad as Perry Mason either. The lady who played Officer Whitfield, Barbara Anderson is the only one of the Ironside team still alive.

    I watched QJ direct his orchestra in Seattle and they played this among his other hits composed during his career. He turned 50 that night in Seattle at the Paramount theater. He was doing a benefit for his high school there, Garfield. I was guest of friends whose father was playing first trumpet in the stage band Quincy assembled from his high school and performance days in "Emerald City" where I was living at the time. I was also a skilled musician and played with bands in the NW....where Hendrix also was home grown. I'm from Compton and now here for the rest of my time. We had NWA make our town famous I guess. Music is the powerful thing we need more of in this tired world of war. Thanks.
