Hi, Great session, Thanks CareersTalk for your courage in putting it up online. I felt it was brutally honest case study by Mr. Shamik on people, process that is currently going on in many organizations. We still have believers around us who think technical expertise is enough for a project success and completely forget that people with an agile mindset people like Scrum Masters, Managers who build psychologically safe environment, Managers who know to manage stress, such people bring in the people management add on to their management style which implicitly makes a huge difference in the culture altogether.

Hi Sunand, we have a scrum master in our team and we feel that his work is only arranging meetings which was really not required. Few meetings its ok, but he arranges lots of meeting. He assigns work to us and goes offline. Really he is having a really nice time being a scrum master. Without him our team lead was doing the co-ordination and he was doing the work even much better. I dont see the importance of a Scrum master in a team, even though I am trying to be a scrum master after I got the CSM certification.
What is your role in that team?

I totally understand your concern. I used to think the same way as you before I completely understand Agile and scrum values and principles. I can't explain them all in this message. But just try to find out do you ever seen Ravi shastri(indian cricket coach) played the game on real time?? No right. But why do the team needs a coach who will never play the real game or take one wicket or get any scores to the team?

@@anbuarasi8110 , what you said is true ..there should be coach for each team..at the same time scrum master should always observe the team to understand problems that team facing Scrum master should explain the agile values and principles to the team and teach them importance of scrum master role
Certification doesn't guarantee that you will be a successful scrum master; A successful scrum master doesn't need any certification.
Certification is just a stepping stone if you want to get into this role or just want to validate your knowledge incase of an experienced scrum master. As they say, scrum is easy to understand (two days of training) but hard to master (lifelong journey).
I agree with all your points Shouvik. I have been working with Scrum masters for quite some years , and found that Scrum masters becomes hurdles, without them the process becomes much simpler and smooth. What could have been done smoothly, Scrum masters unnecessarily put some processes in between just to prove to the client that he(SMs) also exists in the system. I have observed this in my past 3 companies.
Probably you haven't met the right Scrum Masters yet.
