Nah man I can’t agree with this. You shouldn’t have to go out of your way to build a 6 man to enjoy the game. Sbmm is dog water. You should be able to hop into a match on your own and have fun. It’s not about the winning. It’s about the game deciding the punish me for having a 5.0 kd one match for the rest of the night. Matchmaking unranked isn’t an esport my guy. Your take here just isn’t it
boom has got to have posted this just for the engagement. anyone who's played cod before 2019 knows how much more casual it was, how you didn't have to get 5 other guys to have fun, how the different play styles made the games feel different, how you didn't feel like you were being manipulated by an algorithm. just because dude likes to play with other people does not mean everyone does. i prefer playing soloand though i'm not the greatest player my kd ranged from 1.6 to 2.0 in cod before 2019 and now i struggle for a 1.1 (with assists counting as kills!). guys trying to be contrarian just to be contrarian, imo. do not agree
plus the mm now makes it more difficult to find cod friends! As XclusiveAce constantly says his biggest gripe with cod is lobbies breaking up. before eomm there were persistent lobbies where you'd play a good player for multiple matches and they'd end up sending you a friend request or vice versa. not anymore. there is no community building.
you want to have fun? then Have fun, play casually, wether you want to face the harsh reality is up to you but, SBMM Reflects how you play, if youre getting into Sweaty Lobbies 24/7 that means youre playing in a sweaty manner and clearly not for "fun" or Casually, it means youre playing for that dopamine rush. you want to run away from this painful truth, but you can run away from Reality. and before you attempt with "you just like SBMM because youre trash" i say this because im used to SBMM because my first online shooter was fuckin HALO, i got big into that stuff up until 343 decided to ruin the franchise i loved. im no stranger to SBMM and how it works. youre lying to yourself if youre saying you cant have fun because youre being put into sweaty lobbies regardless, nothing is stopping you from putting down the Meta weapons and pickign up what you want. i know those who are advocating for SBMM's removal only want lobbies where they dont have to face their equals, but still go about using the meta and sweaty tactics i seen it in Destiny since there SBMM was constantly turned on and off, every time it was turned on, Sweats and high profile players complained how their required to play meta and cant just use what they want, when it got turned off, they would continue to use meta weapons and do things like crouch shotting, so much for "i want to have fun" youre form of fun is demolishing anouther person so bad they likely end up quitting the game for good.
Yeah well when cod is no longer like how it used to be where everyone mostly just tries to have fun, and everyone just sweats and bounces around a dozen times every 5 seconds, slide cancelling abuse 24/7 and all meta load outs. There needs to be some type of sbmm/eomm to allow for this kind of fun screw around gameplay.
@yuutasai5626 I would say I am close I was a 2 before I started doing camos and only doing headshots and the goblin is killing me !!! but I would say I am around 1.8 - 1.7 now and it's alot easier then 2 ...... 2 and above every game is a 100% sweat fest any mistake you make you pay for .. now down in 1.7 I can makes mistakes and still win the fight..
Agreed i remember as a solo getting queued in against b2b 6 mans and immediately realized those games would not be fun or even competitive when you have a group of randoms vs a 6man according to this guy “pair with players you can carry” how tf is someone supposed to carry a team vs. a whole squad lol
If I can go load up Black Ops 1 right now (or really any older FPS game such as Battlefield 4), get my ass handed to me, and have more fun than if I played most modern CoDs, there’s a problem. I don’t care if I win, I don’t care if I do well. My KDR is bad, my aim is garbage because I play other games, my positioning is likely subpar, my game sense is wack, and probably so much more. Like seriously, I’m playing through the Dead Space remake (highly recommend) and occasionally hopping on CoD for a match or so or playing Zombies. I recently played Bad Company 2 Online on PC with a KBM which I suck with and had a good time despite getting wacked. Not everyone needs to do well to have fun.
I normally like doing well and that's how I have fun, but doing something plain outright stupid can be fun just as much. Like letting the infected go past me to take out the other survivors... or ending the match with good vibes from that guy I just fought blood sweat, tooth and nail against for the objectives, or responded to their death comms cause I don't know how the frik I won that fight either!!! But like, if you've played airsoft, paintball, nerf or gelsoft events... the best part is regularly coming together at the end and laughing about the nonsense you just went through on the field. It's not about ending someone else's fun... and it doesn't have to be even with FPS games...
I used to be able to carry my team to victory regardless of who was on the other team. with me being at a 2.4 kd, all of my friends are under a 1.8 and can't enjoy the game these days. I believe in the "just improve" argument, but the problem was never (just facing better players) After bo4, the majority of our matches literally play the same. Out of 10, 8 being sweaty and 2 being what used to be the norm for cod. Plus. There are way too many videos showing the flaws of the Matchmaking outside of our experience for any counter argument to matter. I believe we should have a choice between ranked and pubs.
Depending on the game and SBMM strength it also doesn't like groups either. As a higher MR player can pull up their team to the point the other get no enjoyment out of playing if the gap between them is quite big.
I don’t care about SBMM at all. What I do care about is playing on servers all over the US. One game I have 20 ping, next 80, next 60. I checked and I’m from Texas they have me playing in Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, all over. It’s almost impossible to beat players that are as good as you or better when you’re in an above 40 ping lobby. It’s way more than all the reasons you stated.
All these points can rebuked with a simple one - if I'm better than an average player, I should feel that I'm better than an average player. That's it. Otherwise it's a participation trophy fest.
Well this just begs the question... If I assume that you are in fact better than the average player, then why don't you feel like an above-average player? Based on this complaint, I'm sure your response to that will be "It's obviously because of the SBMM!" I'd say I'm a below-average CoD player. When I play BO6, I feel like a below-average CoD player. In other skill-based games, take Rocket League for example, I'm definitely an above average player. And so when I play, I feel like one. I find this rebuttal interesting/surprising to hear because, regardless of the game I'm playing, I always seem feel how I "should" feel based on comparing my own skill level to what is objectively/statistically average. I'm genuinely curious as to why you feel this disconnect between how you would rate yourself vs. how you feel when you play the game. This is something I've never considered someone might feel before because of my own bias of experience. However, all of that being said, I'm inclined to conclude that maybe, juuuusst maybe, the real issue lies in coming to terms with an uncomfortable truth: You don't feel better than an average player because you aren't better than an average player. You are simply the average CoD player.
@@LeftBehind666 Wow, that's a significant drop for sure. Were you a 2+ K/D in the previous CoD games that also used SBMM? If so, that would still suggest that the matchmaking isn't necessarily the core issue here and BO6 seems "off" to many players for an entirely different reason... Idk what it is, but this seems to be the most controversial CoD title I've ever seen. So many mixed reviews everywhere and lots of inconsistencies. And my first was CoD 3 on Playstation 2 back in '06 so I hear ya there.
@@bgodwin6859old CoD games had SBMM but skill was the last factor taken into account in the matchmaking. First was connection, second time to play and third was skill where priority by percentage was like 1. Connection - 60-70% 2. Time to play - 20-30% 3. Skill - 10% Now it's like 1. 50% 2. 10% 3. 40%
I understand where your coming from but i use to be able to play solo and go in winstreaks without much difficulty now i drop 50 in tdm and still lose, it's not the fact that it happens but how often it happens, and as the good player im not gonna add anyone who wasnt play anywhere near my level of skill
Midgame Auto balance of the golden days of online gaming is something I miss. 95% of matches are one or two people on a single team dominating the lobby, which isn't fun for anyone
I played earlier today for six hours. I can tell you that a lot of times l was shooting the enemy, they would sponge my bullets and one shot kill me. The lag of the enemies is obsurd.
Been on TH-cam for like 10 years and maybe have left three comments in that time. But this video is genuinely terrible. Every single point this guy makes has a counter argument that somehow gets ignored. I actually can not believe his lack of understanding of casual fun in cod. This is arguably the worst video on the subject on the platform. Please do not hear him out. Thanks.
"you should go back to being a sheep and be part of our herd of helplessness and victimhood." Boom can't you see he's just trying to get you more views! what a nice guy!
@@Tenebris8444>deliberately ignores all the comments that do explain why boom is wrong you know i can see that this is one of your only two comments on the channel and the other is just you agreeing
That point about ranked play was terrible. Also it isn’t just SBMm anymore, the spawns are trash on purpose. These are a lot of strawman arguments. Really bad all around. You’re also kidding yourself if you think CoD has a big skill ceiling.
It matches you with players it thinks u can carry. That's why FFA feels really good in BO6 in terms of matchmaking. What makes it unenjoyable tho is the maps paired with an even more revenge based spawn system than in the OG MW3 and that's sad.
It's not about actual skill building, or even trial and error. CoD Multiplayer barely has a skill ceiling to begin. If developers really gave that any priority then facetious stuff like the Recon Perk would have not made it into the game, gun TTKs would be a lot more consistent and server stability would be polished. I opine that you're barking up the wrong tree. Activision applies SBMM not to build a skill ceiling, but to retain the whales so they can spend more money on microtransactions. That's what we the informed few are *actually* calling out.
It’s not a matter of not improving, it’s a matter of not feeling that improvement. The better you get, the better your opponents get especially as a solo player. I get playing in parties and it’s all well and good. But it does spoil the solo players experience. When I was playing WAW MW4 and BO etc I felt myself improving and that continued through to BO4. But MW19 onwards changed the way COD feels as a long time solo player.
Yes and in ranked play you get a actual rank and now in which bracket you belong in punöic matches you dont and thats sad. You neber know how good you are becouse you dont see it.
Man, this makes so much sense… because after a while, I’m carrying people and then it’s making me suffer at the end of the day. I need to stop playing with some of the people that I already play with and get new people to play with and play with the other people that I already have on occasions, cause they barely even be on in the first place sometimes
Either SBMM has been turned down or they're A/B testing again... because I see the same people in my lobbies all the time now. Maybe it only recalculates over a longer period instead of the bizarre 3-game method they had before.
Testing again. At least thats where i put my money. This game strangely reminds me of the disconnect in Ghosts alot of players had. I beileve Ghosts was Activisions first time fucking with it. Look at matches compared to Mw3 og and Ghosts. Night and day differences.
Playing the game does not imply I intentionally want to make the game less enjoyable for somebody else. That's a very bizarre thing to say. If I wanted to ruin peoples enjoyment of a game I'd be trolling them or talking shit after wiping the floor with them, or Id intentionally put myself in bad lobbies to fuck with bad players. We're just two opposing forces playing the same game, it really isn't that deep. The game is fun as a game, I don't need to make someone upset to enjoy it, that's insane.
I am a new gen CoD kid who started playing with 2019, I was a 1.1-1.2 kd player, I dont really understand all this nonsense, about not being able/have the drive to improve. I did improve, over the years since, I've adapted, learned so much by playing people who are way better than me, approached the game with an open mind, took the time to study the ins and outs. I've now hit crim in ranked and hold a 2.2-2.3 kd and have dropped ~10 nukes across several games. Its possible people, dont hold yourselves back.
When you start to hit late 20s early 30s you will decline, but in your decline you’ll still be really good at the game you just don’t have the mental fortitude after working all day after dealing with your wife and kids, I don’t want to have to sweat EVERY game after I do all that in a day just because I’m still decent at a game I’ve been playing for 17 years
@@Shaaawwwwn exactly im 35 and im decent because i have played since COD 4 I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m in a tournament every game against fatherless children hoping their dad will come home if they win a fucking game of call of duty
@@Shaaawwwwn I can absolutely see that coming, I am 20 currently and work 50 hours a week, definitely gonna have to rely on my brain even more, when I get up there in age, there's tons of cracked kids coming onto the scene now.
@@colonelsanders7351 yeah not everyone is the in the same situation I’d argue a lot of late 20s 30s people make up the vast majority of the population and once they lose them it’ll be tough, fortnite took a lot of kids from them there’s a place for maximum SBMM and it’s not public lobbies
Id like to mention - the issue with sbmm and the lack of improvment thing was framed wrong. The issue with SBMM is not being able to tell if im improving (in pubs) if there was a vissable mmr or a lose range mmr it would be so much more bareable
Hey, man. I think this video is exactly what I needed to hear, and didn't know I needed to hear. While I do believe SBMM does stack the game against players in many ways, the points you made about the inherent nature of competive online shooters and playing to "conquer a real person" as you put it, have given me pause, and I am currently re-evaluating my mentality towards online video games, especially CoD. So I'd like to thank you, you've been really on top of it with the commentary videos about BO6 these past weeks, and for what it's worth, I will be churning over in my brain what you have tried to convey. Keep up the great work.
Couldn’t agree more with you man. Players need to recognize what they want when they play competitive games. Just got a sub dude keep up the great honest content
I agree with the tuned down SBMM being needed but I appreciate the unique perspective on it as well. I do notice myself improving on a game to game basis despite SBMM being a thing. My numbers may not reflect I’m getting better but I notice my recoil control, map knowledge, movement, etc. Is getting better and that’s why I play. I want to get better at everything I do. Not in an obsessive way like a sport but in a rewarding way where noticing I’m getting better gives me fulfillment while playing a meaningless video game.
Well yes. But I kinda feel I'm ruining my friends game by being so...enthusiastic. they say the game gets harder when I join. And I like playing with them. Even if they're not competitive enough (I'm not great though, just a little more consistent)
@@bannedmann4469 He's not advocating for it dude... He's making a point about perspective. He's talked at nauseum about how it ruins the CoD experience.
am i the only one that has easier lobbies when i play solo than when i play with my friends? specifically it feels like my connection is much smoother and less laggy when i play solo
My friend and I dropped MW22 because we both had worse experience in a party despite me being the sweat and him being negative K/D... And then I was forced to carry every lobby after that and it just wore me down. So now I stick to MW19 where I at least get a mix of good and bad and I love the general aggression.
I can't take the SBMM complainers serious especially if most of their games are just Nuketown and not a variety of maps. The strategies have been cemented into titanium by now whether you're jumping into the bedrooms or the lack of strategy of spraying into the tin foil walls. My biggest gripe with the matchmaking is when half my team quits and the spots never get filled until the match is mostly over.
I'm not entirely against SBMM bc its a necessary evil to keep most players engaged. However, before SBMM, it was much more rewarding to consistently dominate lobbies as an above-average player. You could achieve an insane kd and WL to show off. Now, that’s gone, which makes things fairer but removes the sense of progression many players enjoyed from getting better at the game. You can never consistently dominate anymore after SBMM implementation. My KD and W/L will likely float between 1-2 bc you’ll never be consistently above average in your lobbies
Playing solo means that algorithm has full throttle with EOMM. Only time I do have fun with CoD is with a squad, enemies seems to have more variety with skill lvl.
To be completely fair. Sbmm is also taken into account whenever you start ranked. You'll be stuck in the same lobbies you were playing against in pubs, in bronze lol you'll gain alot of sr when you win but also lose alot if you lose. It's not likely you'll ever see that .5 kd player at the start of ranked. You'll just be stuck in sbmm hell playing against other people also stuck in sbmm hell
I do fine solo, my problem is when im in a party with my friends who have over 2 k/d, mines about 1.1 the lobbies we get into are completely out of my league. When i play solo i can actually compete
Nothing is going to beat good old fashioned hard work. In 10 hrs of in game time I went from .54 k/d to a .93 and still working on improving. Yes there are some things I don’t like but I had to be honest with myself. I sucked at the game. Now I’m about average, if not slightly above it. Gotta take the highs with the lows
I saw a similar comment but I wanted to share my thoughts, I firmly agree that one can improve with SBMM/EOMM, I’d argue that one probably could improve more while playing with SBMM (iron sharpens iron), however, playing with SBMM/EOMM minimizes enjoyment for many players regardless, this is for the following reason, many, including myself, find enjoyment in observing their improvements using a concrete measure, I would posit that there are typically two measures that people typically use to gauge their improvements in game performance;observed personal increases in performance in reference to opponents and peers (eg. pub stomping), or assigned rank after demonstration and use of skill (ex. ranks in Rainbow 6 Siege and Valorant), with the recent implementation of SBMM/EOMM in recent CODs, the extent to which one can observe their improvements in reference to their opponents has been decreased greatly, additionally, there are no ranks in core matchmaking for the different skill brackets, I do not believe that this ruins COD, but it does take an 8.5/10 game and make it a 7.5/10 game, I do have a slight difference in opinion, but make no mistake, it is refreshing to see an authentic and nuanced perspective in a content landscape of shills and haters alike, this is why I’ve always liked your content, keep posting great videos! Edit: Thanks for the feature in the video at the end there haha 😂
It’s what it is. Activision love to test their “suck you in” mechanics. Repetitive yawn fest. Content creator just rinse and repeat the latest old news. Play then leave. Don’t wanna play or frustrated it’s time for something else. Simples
I'm gonna have to maintain my stance against it still. Early on you can really use rank as a gauge of how much someone has played. I've recently made it to prestige 1, and yet I'm being setup against players on prestige 7. Given how popular this game is, I have no idea how that should even be allowed given the massive advantage they have in play time, map knowledge, gun skill etc... I'm confident in being against SBMM because in Ground War from Modern Warfare it was slightly reduced to a level I thought was actually really good (naturally to account for higher player count). Ground War level SBMM in 6v6 would be my dream COD
The SBMM in BO6 is so aggressive, and so unforgiving to you when you solo queue, that solo queuing feels dead. You now have to worry about your own back every time you push up, because you can't even remotely rely on your team to cover their OWN flank, let alone yours. I am more than not, the only one on my team playing the objective. Domination, one of my favorite modes in the day, is now a mode I won't touch because it feels like a coin flip on whether or not I see that classic back and forth control of B flag, or a complete stomping ground where my team seemingly doesn't care. This is the first time playing a CoD title where I have found myself asking "Where is my team?" almost every match. I'll get an entry frag on obj and wipe all but that last enemy, completely opening it up and in any other title I'd see teammates get the trade and start the capture/defend the obj. But in BO6? All alone. No one seemingly even trying to play the mode. I don't care too much about winning either, as long as it felt like it could've gone either way. I'll happily accept a flat 50/50 winrate if it means my games feel like a true 6v6, and not the 1v6 or 2v6 that it has felt like most of the time
Ye, genius, we prefer to play ranked cuz we see ourselves improve with a tangible division and ELO. Having strict SBMM is the dumbest shit ever and why I only play with a VPN to get truly random lobbies, not what the algorithm decides for me.
When I play with my girlfriend or family and do good in those lower lobbies, I shouldn’t have to ABSOLUTELY DREAD the moment I play solo after, where the game WILL get its revenge and destroy me every game
Facts thank you for your take.. I stopped playing call of duty for 4 years came back n within a week adjusted to sbmm. I love the challenge. The same ppl complaining are the same ones who play video games on normal and easy “for the story”
It's kinda funny hearing people say they can't get better at the game because of SBMM, it's almost like they're admitting to having some kind of learning disability. Every game you will learn and adapt, you will eventually be playing players of a higher skill level. You're 100% right; what these players view as a metric of improvement is their KD and their score per minute, when really it's the Hidden ELO rating we all have. I have this theory that we all see it this way because of social media influencers flexing their own statistics, which they obtain by two boxing; eliminating SBMM as a factor to their success. The only players I see with high stats organically are actually the professionals who are at the tippity top of the skill ceiling. Why are we comparing ourselves to them?
It’s not the fact you can’t get any better. No one really has ever said that. The video uses that strawman to disregard the actual point. You can totally get better while playing that’s for sure. But you never feel like your actually getting better because your lobbies become more difficult as you yourself get better. Meaning every game feels the exact fuckin same.
@@jdprescher4918 No one? I remember hearing consistently arguments about how protected lobbies can inhibit a new player's ability to improve. Every match feels the same? Is that why I hear how the system punishes you for having a good game, is that why we've coined the term "unemployment lobbies."? No game is the same in my experience, it's just at a high level the odds of going 30:0 every game gets significantly reduced because everybody in the match knows how to kill you. This community wants easy lobbies ALL THE TIME, when they don't even know that those "unemployed" players actually represent a large majority of the experienced playerbase. It's a pipedream sold to us by two boxers on social media getting nukes, our standards are overblown. Back in MW2 days, getting a chopper gunner was considered extremely impressive even in mixed lobbies because you always had one or two really good players on either side to shut eachother down. The odds that removing SBMM will appease these types of players is low, mixed lobbies will always humble you.
Well said brother. I can admit I am that solo player that gets upset with spawn raping, I get mad and do a bit of bitching and call them cheaters. I have cross play turned off so I know they are not cheating, so I regain composure and continue on playing the game knowing they are just hands down better than I am. This game is all about the good vibes. Keep up the good work brother!
I hate the people who bring up the, “just get friends to play with argument.” Yeah that’s easy for a content creator or someone who doesn’t work a real job to say. You guys can literally sit on the game all day and be on whenever you need to be. I shouldn’t have to find a stack to enjoy playing a game I bought for 70 dollars, especially a game that has never emphasized team play in any significant way. You guys harp on about how this is a “competitive shooter” when it’s the most casual of casual shooters out there. Before someone comes in with the, “it’s an FPS multiplayer game therefore inherently competitive” are just disingenuous because you know what people mean when they say that and you are making that argument just to be dismissive. This isn’t Overwatch where the game is clearly entirely designed around competitive play and being an esport with how heavily ranked and pro play is pushed on that game. CoD is not and has never been as serious as games like OW, CSGO, R6, etc because these games are built around it being a hyper competitive environment with team based play. CoD has always been the casual FPS you boot up to hop in a couple matches and have fun, and the sudden revisionist history that this is a hyper competitive game is not at all true. CoD has always had broken shit you can cheese with in every game, horrible map design (especially since 2019), and unbalanced weapons that affect the game beyond just personal skill. You can get an unlucky spawn in this game and get farmed like 3-4 times before you can even ADS depending on the map, how does that determine my skill? I get why SBMM exists and that’s fine but i should no be punished as a solo player just because I want to play the 70 dollar game i bought without having to sweat my brains out with randoms off the internet.
This whole esports/competitive mentality is just taking away the fun of gaming in general. Anyway, this guy is giving of some "I have not showered in six months" kind of vibes, Just my opinion.
100% agree. Just started playing COD multiplayer again this year since BO3. The game feels great and I have no real problem with losing or the matchmaking. But it feels like every TH-camr has 20 videos talking about SBMM and super annoying. This video explained my thoughts well!
I can still have fun even when I'm losing games, and sometimes I win games and don't find it very interesting or fun regardless of my performance. Sometimes you can just make your own fun, whether it's from a play style or just getting a laugh out of a ragdoll animation. I believe that with the right mindset you could even have fun watching paint dry, it really just comes down to your mindset.
While I don’t necessarily think it’s entirely the player’s fault for the SBMM/EOMM algorithm trying to script wins and losses, I can agree that quite a lot of people blame their bad gun skill and poor game knowledge on SBMM, using it as a scapegoat. I will say the one indefensible thing is that ping is no longer king and hasn’t been for years which can absolutely affect your performance, especially earlier in a CoD’s lifecycle where the game is often significantly less optimized and the servers can’t handle the influx of players. And not everyone has the money to drop on a netduma router just to ensure they connect to their closest server
I love reading the comments completely skewing what you said... It's literally, if you have a problem, you have options to fix it! That's How I won the only Gunfight Tournament I had on record. Couldn't get my friends to do it with me, so I found someone I clicked with, friended him and kept at it till we made it.
Read the comments buddy the SBMM baby’s are definitely crying. As much as even I miss the days of pub stomping players I’ve accepted why SBMM was created and like The One Boom I get it, the average Joe or even kid just playing for the fun of it shouldn’t have to deal with an Omni moving, booty sliding, cheese weapon, try hard with a sensitivity set to max. And besides the more sympathetic aspect from a company aspect and data because of SBMM players not only stay in the game longer and, aren’t so quick to leave a game lobby but. Activision also sells far more copies because people and specific the average to below average and bad players are allowed to play with each other and or have one really good player with them so to some capacity can enjoy the game instead of getting spawned killed for the whole game. And like The One Boom says it’s not even soo much that they put you up against better players and what not but more so set you up with a team you must carry. Also more than anything I think fans are missing the point of this video, The One Boom is not saying SBMM as is, is ok. But rather that it should not only be tweaked but more than anything trying to help y’all understand that it’s not going anywhere. There is clear data from a company perspective as to why it benefits them to keep it, more players stay in lobbies and noobs as well as casuals enjoy the game so will not only stick around but potentially buy content. Anyways point I’m trying to make is that this echo chamber of complaining about it is just dead, everyone constantly keeps talking about but yet still plays the game as if it’s gonna go away. More than anything tho the take away from the video should have been adaptability. Y’all need to either stop complaining, adapt or play another game or an older cod because simply put it’s not going away. And constantly bxtching about it won’t change a damn thing. Adapt! Whether you have to camp some rounds in solo play or constantly buddy up with your homeboys who are good players or optimizing your loud out and perks to achieve the higher chance of winning do what you have to do. But bxtching about it won’t change a damn thing, some of these games without SBMM is a thing of the past, Hell! NBA2K has SBMM for crying out loud why? Probably because of the same reasons. If we’re all such the good players we all claim to be than adapted to the new environment SBMM has created and just accepted your KD is not gonna be as high as it was in previous Cod Games. Party up, create the most cheese class set up or whatever, but do what you have to do to stay on top and try to just enjoy the game.
You‘re right of course, but not everybody has a team of friends at their disposal. Maybe there should be an option for team playing matches and teams of solo player matches.
I get the point being brought up in the video, but there's one pretty big issue. If having a team skirts the clear as day issues you would have playing solo, isn't that less adapting and more manipulating the scene to your advantage? How's that any different to just wanting a better matchmaking system so that's not actually required? Also your connection shouldn't suffer to make this optimization possible. A system that goes for connection first and then balances the lobby out with all skill sets on each team is preferable to the system we have now. My 2 cents.
Great take on this topic. I used to play party all the time in the past. The last few years it’s more solo. Major difference. I need to make new friends lol
Every player online sweats like crazy. Best loads outs, meta guns , ignores objectives etc. it’s no fun anymore and it’s sbmm that’s makes this happen. Bad players don’t moan about sbmm only good players do. The good players don’t want to play others their level. They want to slap noobs while sweating. Simply put…..If you’re playing sweats you are a sweat!
I just wish SBMM factored in time-played. No reason a team of low levels should be matched against a team full of multi-prestige meta loadout users. They should re-introduce the old solo queue lobbies from the earlier games. No parties, allowed. Might help with getting paired up against a team full of ultra sweats who have 100s of hours in the game already.
I didn’t experience any of the problems (or major problems to be precise) with SBMM. I mean I play with sweats every single game but guess what? I’m always on the top 3 of my team whether we’re winning or loosing maybe because I got used to SBMM. The only problem I’ve got with SBMM is that it kinda punishes players for getting better at the game. some players would be afraid to be better at the game because they don’t want to play against sweats (which is a decent reason IMO that is unless you’re the second problem) The second problem is the people who abuse SBMM and reverse boost because they’re afraid of playing against people who are at the same level as them or even better than them at the game hence they just reverse boost with the help of SBMM ofc and they’d literally dominate every single game and the sad part is that they do all of that without having any consequences.
Yeah i took advice from i cant remember now !! But everytime i spawn in and are insta killed i back out or if i join and the game is more than 25% done with my team at 0 and them at 50 i back out . Edit i also am going in solo ! But since i have started my camo grind i have went from a 1.8 to 2 kd down to a 1.5 1.4 .. but i dont care and my. W/L was around 50/50 before i started backing out . But i am playing with the solo purpose of getting camos so i dont about my K/d going down
i will always blame SBMM, i was level 1, first game on default classes. my first game was filled with sweats. you know why? cause i was a sweat in the past COD, they knew what kind of player i was and ever since than try hard lobbies. the only time i had average lobbies is when i’m playing with my friends. we had a 4 man and won all of our games. i swear to u the enemies we went up against were average. they barely dived, slide, drop shot, nothing at all. because me and my friends are very different players. to them it seem hard but for me it didn’t. the game doesn’t know what to put u in cuz everyone is different skill level. but when i play solo oh ggs i’m going against 8 prestige sweats with diamond SAUGS every moving fast af. i can keep up with them but i’m just tired of always being competive i jus wanna grind my camos. i’m a try hard to but i can’t take that much every single game yk? i have a 1.4 kd too
People are better at games nowadays, especially when looking at a franchise that's been going for over 20 years. There's also been a big shift in gaming over the years with Twitch/TH-cam becoming viable careers and not just a hobby you do in your spare time and the much higher prize pools in tournaments where again you can actually make a career out of it. This also changed the way people play where many play more as a career or play for a chance to turn it into a career since at a base level, the easiest way to be noticed is by being good. Which is obviously a change from the more hobby/interest focus or, I guess, casual gaming prior. Now, this does not mean there's no casual players or those who play games as a hobby nowadays, nor does it mean that there were no competitive players in older games. Just that there's been a shift as times went on with how the gaming industry has become very profitable.
My PC/Internet is as optimized as it gets. Fiber, VPN, geo-fencing servers. It doesn’t matter. If I’m constantly .5 a second behind every player in the lobby, there is no playing around that. There is no “getting better.” When I 2box with my 1kd alt account, all that shit goes away. I have a fantastic connection, almost zero desync, hit connection and aim assist work flawlessly. This system is fucked up dude.
I'm that dude grinding camos 😅. I play at a 54 ping & don't care about hard lobbies. My issue is packet loss, empty half a mag into my target, they turn n destroy me in 3 hits.. I just reque & move on 😊
I am fully aware of my skill issue. I am mediocre at best and work a 9-5. My best game has been 60-18. Compared to some of the crackheads I've run into, I'm a shitlord. That being said, I despise whatever the matchmaking logic is now. No way my shitter ass should be getting put in American or Europe servers when I'm playing from Australia.
8:00 ... I'd be pissed if you had just taken jeep from me like that and then lay down... Bruh with the pure size of player boxes. Like bro this jeep only got room for 1 boat.
I’m sorry I usually agree with you but his feels like projection. I don’t care for multiplayer, I don’t care to top drag, I don’t care to “ruin someone’s day.” I care about Zombies, I have and will always buy cod for zombies. I only touch the multiplayer for camos to use in zombies. I don’t care for Modern Warfare 3 but I went back and unlocked all the masteries solely because you can get them into BO6. This just feels like straight projection.
This video is just terrible, it just sounds like someone got butthurt because people pointed out that SBMM is a problem. There can be points about how SBMM isn't really that big of a deal, but the problem is this video just feels like it came from emotions rather than actual facts and statistics. I think it would be better to make a response video and talk about the topic a bit more clearly.
@@Gamebit257 When you have a no SBMM system of course there's going to be sweats, it's a jack of all trade, that's how no SBMM works. It's a mix match of different players with different skills in the same lobby. Reasons there are more sweats is that simple reason, people have more free time, there are more guides out there, and more people are playing shooters than back in the day
low/no SBMM works best with a large playbase, which XDefiant lost from bad netcode and bad game design. but even then it depends, Battlefield 1 is old but it's still thriving and matches are generally chill @@Gamebit257
@@Adam-pk7goAre you serious with this question? Everyone is talking about how awful the MM is just on ping and lag alone. It bounces you to far servers all the time. It’s a joke, and those are facts.
I wish they would give you something next to your name so you could feel like you accomplished something when you got into a new bracket, like halo 2 did.
for someone that doesnt play any cod to just destroy people.. ive got like a 1.32 kd(win loss is under 1 because i dont care about W/L) with about 170 ish games.. ive got snipers done and about to have ars done(2 more) id say all of my games all i try to do its get headshots. if i get 20 headshots in a game if it means ill get 50 deaths id do it idc. but i cant do that because for someone who is grinding camos that doesnt try to do anything but do my camos the sbmm actually just makes my life 30x harder... meanwhile hommie on yt spent 20 bucks and can play against little timmy from down south that doesnt know anything but having fun..
Boom i genuinely appreciate what you’re saying here. I genuinely appreciate you telling people the truth and saying it straight. To many creators I feel just jump into the common jargon because it get views. “Oh the streamer said that I’m not bad it’s just the system, I knew it!” We need more creators who just say it how it is. I hope you never change. You’re asking a group of people to self reflect on their own mistakes instead of blaming the world for their problems. Thats not going to happen in today’s society. People in todays day and age refuse to admit their bad at something or wrong, they will die on their hill where they blame the world for their issues, which is fine with me. It means less competent people that I have to compete with in life. We need dumb people in our society. If everyone was intelligent I wouldn’t have the high paying job I have, there would be too much competition. The fact is most people are lazy and incompetent but can’t admit it, so they to lie to themselves that it’s the system that’s rigged. They then shout into the echo chamber of Reddit or what not and feel heard because they’re not the only lazy person out there. It’s an unhealthy circle we find ourselves in as a society.
Are you kidding me? why people should blame themselves in a game for being good? what kind logic is that? He doesn't care it because he is too good so SBMM couldn't get him. but most of average players suffer, they don't deserve a fair experience? bad players also like the feeling of 'conquer a real person' what makes them spacial? being bad?😂😂
Spot on. And this is coming from a below average player. "I wanna relax" on an online competitive multiplayer shooter. "i wanna play casually" complains about losing. Just no self awareness at all. Lets take these real complaints and dissect them. What is "fun" to you? What is relax? Define "casual". From my own findings over the last cod entries, it means to play with your brain turned off(?). There are real simple solutions and that is to play bots. Im not even saying that in a derogatory way. (Playing bots can be legitimately amazing.) But clearly it was never to relax. The fun has always been online bullying since COD 4 and it has been apart of this community forever. From since MW2019 (where they ramped up the sbmm), it has exposed a lot of players. I believe sbmm is an issue but some people have taken this thing and have chose to die on that hill as the thing that is holding there life hostage.
@@MadWatcher If one is transparent about it its fine, but you cant be mad and crying when youre on the other end of the bullying. Thens its really sad.
when i play with my friends, outside of the friends that id be carrying, it becomes impossible for me to play and I have to be carried, with skill based matchmaking it just makes it unenjoyable to play with certain friends, particularly the friends who are even just slightly better than me, i go from a positive kd, to 0.5-7, when most of the game is spent dying, it's not fun, amd when thats every game, I'd rather just not play. the solution isn't just play with friends and people you know are going to take the match seriously. The concept of sbmm finding people you can carry doesn't work statistically, not as the way it's presented here, maybe it does find people to be carried, and people to carry others, but that means people watching this video are getting put into games are getting put into games where they are at a disadvantage and don't have a real opportunity to get better. And to claim it impossible for someone to enjoy the game without winning, that they have to see the game the same way you do, is ignorant, I rarely care if I'm on the winning team, it doesn't matter to me unless there's a challenge im focused on that i need to win x games today/this week/month some games where i end up with a 0.6kd are more fun than the games where i come out with a 2-4kd because I wasn't focused on "conquering someone else" but rather on a camo or calling card challenge and finally got it or got that last little bit of xp to complete that prestige or get a certain unlock, despite getting terribly beat. Just cause youre the filth of the earth, doesn’t mean we all are. If anything though the currently existing skill based matchmaking causes all of that to be more difficult, creates a skill ceiling where once I start getting a little better I'm constantly stuck in matches where I'm getting shot before im even able to see people cause of ping, and I'm not joking there, I spent half a day in games where the people on the other team were faster than my ping to the point that I would barely round a corner and instantly be dead before they were on my screen, no lag, no packet burst, a consistent chain of games like that for a at least half a day, with people so fast that I have trouble believing that they could have been doing anything but using hacks. Ive finally figured it out, why you're so hopelessly wrong, you have a ideology of egoism, believing everyone to act out of self interest, claiming that that self interest. you claim everyone else to be a wall, but you yourself are the wall.
im not here to win i been playing since modern warfare (the og one) i naturally have a kd over 1.3 and i just play for clips which is FUN to me not to ruin someones day. so most of the time i play solo and what ive experienced is im constantly goin up against people in parties no matter how many lobbies i back out and try to find (of course there's exceptions) . I would go check the other teams kd and they all have 2.5 or higher and my team is usaully 1.0 or lower so as i solo player i can confidently say the game is trying to force people to party up. I also feel like ive hit my skill ceiling years ago but now every single lobby i get into i have to channel the 14 year old version of me and sweat my ass off when im just tryna chill and have a fun game , and dont get me started about the ping issue .
I agree with you ,The criticisms of sbmm never feel genuine. People complain about sweats but if you are constantly in sweat lobbys its because YOU ARE THE SWEAT its called SKILL BASED match making for a reason
Your take here just isn’t it
Totally agree, this guy has the worst takes Ive ever heard and he just kept on yapping. Protecting people in a video game is utterly ridiculous.
boom has got to have posted this just for the engagement. anyone who's played cod before 2019 knows how much more casual it was, how you didn't have to get 5 other guys to have fun, how the different play styles made the games feel different, how you didn't feel like you were being manipulated by an algorithm. just because dude likes to play with other people does not mean everyone does. i prefer playing soloand though i'm not the greatest player my kd ranged from 1.6 to 2.0 in cod before 2019 and now i struggle for a 1.1 (with assists counting as kills!). guys trying to be contrarian just to be contrarian, imo. do not agree
plus the mm now makes it more difficult to find cod friends! As XclusiveAce constantly says his biggest gripe with cod is lobbies breaking up. before eomm there were persistent lobbies where you'd play a good player for multiple matches and they'd end up sending you a friend request or vice versa. not anymore. there is no community building.
you want to have fun? then Have fun, play casually,
wether you want to face the harsh reality is up to you but, SBMM Reflects how you play, if youre getting into Sweaty Lobbies 24/7 that means youre playing in a sweaty manner and clearly not for "fun" or Casually,
it means youre playing for that dopamine rush.
you want to run away from this painful truth, but you can run away from Reality.
and before you attempt with "you just like SBMM because youre trash"
i say this because im used to SBMM because my first online shooter was fuckin HALO, i got big into that stuff up until 343 decided to ruin the franchise i loved.
im no stranger to SBMM and how it works.
youre lying to yourself if youre saying you cant have fun because youre being put into sweaty lobbies regardless,
nothing is stopping you from putting down the Meta weapons and pickign up what you want.
i know those who are advocating for SBMM's removal only want lobbies where they dont have to face their equals, but still go about using the meta and sweaty tactics i seen it in Destiny since there SBMM was constantly turned on and off, every time it was turned on,
Sweats and high profile players complained how their required to play meta and cant just use what they want,
when it got turned off, they would continue to use meta weapons and do things like crouch shotting, so much for "i want to have fun"
youre form of fun is demolishing anouther person so bad they likely end up quitting the game for good.
“Stop blaming an algorithm for ur lows”
The algorithm is designed to give u these lows
exactly...
Sbmm definitely needs to be tuned down against solo players for sure. Its absolutely insane how the matchmaking punishes solo players
And that's the only way I play!!
Same, it's no coincidence that this is the most fun CoD I've played in years, but also the first that I actively partied up in
Weird I'm at a 1.5 kd and this one has been the least sweaty
In a rated M FPS nobody should be protected. Matchmaking should focus on ping and team balancing the lobby. Go back to B04 match making system.
I mean disabled people should 100% be in protected lobbies
Agreed
This, it's more fun to do poorly in BO or MW2 (the actual MW2) than it is to do well in contemporary CoDs
It's almost like that's what everyone is trying to say. If they just make it separate all the complaining would stop
Sbmm hates solo players
It feels like being just a filler
To succeed you need to be in a team of players with Asian-character names with clan tags like TkTok, NUKE, Clipz, ISUK, womp
Depending on the game and SBMM strength it also doesn't like groups either.
As a higher MR player can pull up their team to the point the other get no enjoyment out of playing if the gap between them is quite big.
Ofc being spawned right into enemy's crosshairs or having enemies spawn right behind me is my fault and totally not the algorithm
Funny how he didn’t mention the lag that SBMM generates.
one of the worst takes on SBMM i've ever heard.
no one said the Truth is a comfortable thing to Hear.
@@TheFallinhalo define truth?
Amen
All these points can rebuked with a simple one - if I'm better than an average player, I should feel that I'm better than an average player. That's it. Otherwise it's a participation trophy fest.
Exactly this guys take is stupid
Well this just begs the question... If I assume that you are in fact better than the average player, then why don't you feel like an above-average player? Based on this complaint, I'm sure your response to that will be "It's obviously because of the SBMM!"
I'd say I'm a below-average CoD player.
@@bgodwin6859 Because when I'm a 2 to 4 KD player for 17 years, straight and then i'm a 1, there's an obvious issue.

That point about ranked play was terrible. Also it isn’t just SBMm anymore, the spawns are trash on purpose. These are a lot of strawman arguments. Really bad all around.
You’re also kidding yourself if you think CoD has a big skill ceiling.
Exactly bro just yapping with no facts or data or stats.
Bingo
It’s not a matter of not improving, it’s a matter of not feeling that improvement. The better you get, the better your opponents get especially as a solo player. I get playing in parties and it’s all well and good. But it does spoil the solo players experience. When I was playing WAW MW4 and BO etc I felt myself improving and that continued through to BO4. But MW19 onwards changed the way COD feels as a long time solo player.
Yeah, he’s full of crap. Strawman arguments everywhere.
That's one of the most bs COD videos I've even seen in my entire life, congrats for that!
If they turned it off, you wouldn't even know. Players are better in general, than in those fun times you remember 10 years ago.
I don't want to ruin somebody's fun LOL
That's a strange way to put it
You do though. If you're trying to keep someone from winning a match, getting streaks, or keeping map control you are messing up someone's match.
Yeah his take is terrible 💀
I am a new gen CoD kid who started playing with 2019, I was a 1.1-1.2 kd player, I dont really understand all this nonsense, about not being able/have the drive to improve. I did improve, over the years since, I've adapted, learned so much by playing people who are way better than me, approached the game with an open mind, took the time to study the ins and outs. I've now hit crim in ranked and hold a 2.2-2.3 kd and have dropped ~10 nukes across several games. Its possible people, dont hold yourselves back.

He didn’t touch on that point cause he’s got nothing for it. The SBMM kids never do.
Exactly, this clown in the video doesn’t get it. The wins the losses, the deaths all predetermined and boring.
Older games didn't need strict SBMM yet they were fine, why now?
What if you're always the dead weight?
It’s what it is. Activision love to test their “suck you in” mechanics. Repetitive yawn fest. Content creator just rinse and repeat the latest old news. Play then leave. Don’t wanna play or frustrated it’s time for something else. Simples
No I don’t enjoy matches stolen from me
My issue with sbmm is a weird one. I only play non meta builds, "realistic ones" (it is stupid i know), so i cant play my way bc of sbmm
I kinda want to make other’s experiences bad though lmao that’s the whole fun
I feel that Normotim helps my body adapt to stress more easily.
SBMM put me against a professional CDL player illey yesterday twice in a row. It’s not fun at all.
The odds that removing SBMM will appease these types of players is low, mixed lobbies will always humble you.
i just straight up disagree with most of what you said
Well said brother. Keep up the good work brother!
most literate CoD creator
Yeah, he’s projecting. Thinking everyone is like him, only having fun when winning and killing. He’s lame for that.
Boom it’s been less than an hour and you pissed off the SBMM babies
nobody is pissed off but go off I guess
Everyone complaining about sbmm. And yet, they still buy and play. It's why I haven't played COD in about 5 years. When sbmm is gone, I'll come back
Every player online sweats like crazy.
The only problem I’ve got with SBMM is that it kinda punishes players for getting better at the game. some players would be afraid to be better at the game because they don’t want to play against sweats (which is a decent reason IMO that is unless you’re the second problem)
The second problem is the people who abuse SBMM and reverse boost because they’re afraid of playing against people who are at the same level as them or even better than them at the game hence they just reverse boost with the help of SBMM ofc and they’d literally dominate every single game and the sad part is that they do all of that without having any consequences.
But i am playing with the solo purpose of getting camos so i dont about my K/d going down
i will always blame SBMM, i was level 1, first game on default classes. my first game was filled with sweats. you know why? cause i was a sweat in the past COD, they knew what kind of player i was and ever since than try hard lobbies.
the only time i had average lobbies is when i’m playing with my friends. we had a 4 man and won all of our games. i swear to u the enemies we went up against were average. they barely dived, slide, drop shot, nothing at all. because me and my friends are very different players. to them it seem hard but for me it didn’t.
the game doesn’t know what to put u in cuz everyone is different skill level. but when i play solo oh ggs i’m going against 8 prestige sweats with diamond SAUGS every moving fast af. i can keep up with them but i’m just tired of always being competive i jus wanna grind my camos. i’m a try hard to but i can’t take that much every single game yk? i have a 1.4 kd too
Umm this is giving me Fight Club Vibes the way you’re talking at me
You actually made great points all throughout this video and I hate your guts for that exact reason
You lost me towards the end with that nonsense, but why did you have to say the first parts? I like to complain. Me losing is never my fault.
My PC/Internet is as optimized as it gets. Fiber, VPN, geo-fencing servers. It doesn’t matter.
If I’m constantly .5 a second behind every player in the lobby, there is no playing around that. There is no “getting better.”
When I 2box with my 1kd alt account, all that shit goes away.
I just reque & move on 😊
Its ridiculous that if i dnt try my team gets demolished cant do my camos in peace
Fucc SBMM. I'm a 1.1-1.3 KD player, though, so I'm never really pushing hard either way. It's whatever
8:00 ... I'd be pissed if you had just taken jeep from me like that and then lay down... Bruh with the pure size of player boxes. Like bro this jeep only got room for 1 boat.
I play this game to relax but end up more stressed
Bro I’m an og steaming from 2003 and you are spiting FACTS
What are the facts and statistics about how SBMM is a problem?
XDefiant didn't have SBMM and still have try-hards sweats all the time.
It's me. I'm the bad teammate you have to carry.
The whole point is bullying, that's like the main thing in COD, you either get stomped or not stomped. The game was built around that for years
@@MadWatcher If one is transparent about it its fine, but you cant be mad and crying when youre on the other end of the bullying.
Thens its really sad.
if one wants pure fun with no sbmm just play ravenfield
when i play with my friends, outside of the friends that id be carrying, it becomes impossible for me to play and I have to be carried, with skill based matchmaking it just makes it unenjoyable to play with certain friends, particularly the friends who are even just slightly better than me, i go from a positive kd, to 0.5-7, when most of the game is spent dying, it's not fun, amd when thats every game, I'd rather just not play. the solution isn't just play with friends and people you know are going to take the match seriously.
Your full of it.
im not here to win i been playing since modern warfare (the og one) i naturally have a kd over 1.3 and i just play for clips which is FUN to me not to ruin someones day. so most of the time i play solo and what ive experienced is im constantly goin up against people in parties no matter how many lobbies i back out and try to find (of course there's exceptions) .
5:01 well than go play Free for All and see how fast you self worth in your gaming ability starts to go down hill. Would be an argument too
