Rode that part of the country last June Beautiful , in 1998 I bought the exact same sporty 883 blue paint that Shad tree is on New for around 6000 rode that thing all over the west , Keep on roling boys ....
Motorcycle Missions nailed it, pulling your bike together so well, if I’m not mistaken. We need to hear more from them, hopefully they can use their TH-cam channel more often. I love their efforts! Be safe riding out there Adam, don’t want to mess up your shoulder.
Y'all were in my neck of the woods. Virginia is fun to ride. Dual-Sportsters, fun stuff. Always wanted to do that. One day. Safe travels and thanks for what you do for us Veterans.
I take my 1974 FXRT 3 miles into the woods across two streams and a quicksand swampy area to see a buddy. One of the adventures bikes might be nice for visiting him.
Yo Adam, I have always suggested to people thru my 57 yrs of Riding Motorsickle Ride your own Ride. Never force Riders out of there comfort zone. SEMPER FI You Meet the Nicest People on a Honda Valkyrie. Keep the Shiny Side Up
It was great meeting you and Ashley at the Barbarossa Saloon in TN as you were headed on your way for this trip. Your bike looks killer. Have a safe ride as always.
Between you and Josh, I've been so pumped for this to finally come out! My wife and I had a bear experience on the Columbia and Western Rail Trail up here in B.C. too. Fortunately for both of us, they were going in the same direction we were. Can't wait for the next four days!
I had a Deer Experience. Deer Jumped out of a corn field and ran as fast as it could in front of me. Hit the deer dead on in the Belly .. took a 50 MPH slide down the road. Broke the Deers Back .. and killed it. My friend came and got the deer with a truck .
Been dreaming of my 05 xl1200c scrambler it's been in pieces for years lol. but I have a dream. wish I was there. I love the idea. Problem is the being bling$$ the whole group rocks. 80lbs heaver lol
It started with a cafe idea, I said fk that let's ride state park roads scrambler is where it's at. Now I see it happening all over the group rocks, got to train for this, rocks are wearing on the body. This is a real AMERICAN dream...
No shame in crashing out of the ride. I road an “actual” ADV bike (Africa Twin) and crashed out last year just after Tub Run Rd. I over estimated the traction on those Jeep roads and went down quick!
Definitely dig your build probably the most out of the bunch. Great video too. Consider going to the Red River Scrambler in Kentucky in mid September-ish if you're available. We'll see the Harley can hang with my Triumph on some trails! ;-)
Looks to be a great time and glad to see that Josh was not going this Adventure alone!!! I learned about it thru his channel and cannot wait to see everyone's content on the trip! Wish I could have joined along with the KTM 790 Adventure, maybe next time for the TAT! ;)
@@adamsandoval, from what I've seen of the MABDR, I think I would be bored by the lack of challenge anyway to be honest... Hoping there are more challenging off shoots from the main trail to explore. Still would have a great time playin' scout for y'all and looping back. :)
I've been riding my solid mount 99 Sportster for over 20 years and have almost 400,000 miles on her with the original engine and I don't find vibration to be a problem at all. Any bikes that doesn't lose parts or fracture sheet metal obviously doesn't vibrate to any great degree. At least in my opinion.
Absolutely. Just ask million dollar Bogan or Scooter Tramp Scotty. I've always taken my bikes off road. If you look at the older models of harleys, the tires that came on the bikes were rather aggressive. Back then the roads weren't much better, if at all, than today's roads.
I’m kind of doing this same type of adventure except I’m rebuilding a 43 year old dual sport that I’ll be riding somewhere across this country. The main difference is, I can’t get any of my friends to join me. I guess they’re chicken!
You can do the MABDR on a CB300 with street tires and no off-road skills. It’s 95% gravel/pavement. I can only recall a few sketchy sections that any novice could duckwalk if needed. Go do the complete NEBDR and then you’re talking.
The Sportster was Harley's original dirt bike back then. Back when the Riders were as tough as their motorcycles. Lots of the big Enduros in the old days had Sportsters winning them.
I had to chase my German Shepherd on dirt trails from the lake. Piece of cake ride on my Daytona 500. Riding my Sportster on the same Trail showed me the difference between the bikes and that with a Sportster being Harley dirt bike you had to be a rough tough guy to ride it. It was a handful.
This is so cool. Adam, now that you have had some first hand experience on a couple different adventure bikes, the African Twinn, KTM, pan American, and now your custom Adventure bike, your honest review please. Do you feel you have the best of both worlds in your custom? or changes? Thank you so much!
I love the uniqueness of the sportster, I think it handles great for my ability, the others are all capable of so much more then I am. Long distance the Twin is best, right trails the KTM, and in between the tenere 700. IMO. I will keep the sporty but if I had to buy one of the others it would be tenere 700
Oh My Gosh a 2007 Buell Lightening. Imagine that the Genius of Eric Buell who actually built a Sports Adventure bike in 2007. @@adamsandoval Itchy Boots Nora seems so mellow and easy going. She Entered a Rally race in Africa and she got into it. She was riding way faster than I expected her to. Had a nephew lay it down on that stretch last week. Fracture of the lower leg. He will get healed up and we will set out and conquer that trail!
