    Erskine, you're a great addition to the Sweetwater team. I'm really enjoying your demos. You bring a lot of knowledge and charm to the videos. One suggestion please: as you play through the different piano samples, it would be helpful if you briefly announced which ones they are. I noticed this on your demonstration of the Korg Grand Stage as well. We had no idea which specific piano samples you were playing.
    Otherwise, wonderful job! It's a joy to watch these.

    I got this board about a year ago. It probably wasn't the best choice for me at the time as I really should've gone with a fully weighted 88 key keyboard to practice piano, but it's a blast to play nonetheless.

    I wish they could make an update to turn off the Leslie click for B3 so I can have a dry sound. I was nervous buying this w/o trial because the keybed was so flimsy on the NE3 but it's as strong as my B3 now.

    PS - Lot of value at $2200. I expected much higher price point. Man how times have changed. If you only wanted to carry one instrument this could do the gig for most "traditional" players - the guys back in the 70s and 80s who used to lug a b3/Leslie + Rhodes + strings +clav (and God bless the Arp String ens LOL) Except now they'd also have usable acoustic piano sounds.

    • @jitstrike5579

      slickcross the Stage series add a synth engine... so you have organ, piano, and synth.
      The electro has organ, piano, and a sample player.

    Great demo Erskine. Since there is no knob for pitch bend, can pitch bend be controlled on any of the Electro series using an expression pedal?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Carlysle! Thanks for your interest. The lack of a pitch bend control on the Electro series is intentional, since these instruments are designed to emulate vintage keyboards that did not have pitch bend. However, you can add pitch bend by connecting a second keyboard with a pitch bend control via MIDI. Since pitch bend is a very specific MIDI message, I don't believe you would be able to accomplish this with an expression pedal. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly if you have further questions.

    anyone knows how many piano sounds max you can layer on top of each other?

    • @colbalt95
      @colbalt95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mina None. maybe two if you layer a piano from the piano section and one from the sample synth section but the synth one won't sound as good bc it only record one touch response and increases or decreases the sound by touch response.

  • @synthartist69
    @synthartist69 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    No pitch bend or mod wheel?? Are you kidding???

    • @187onasimp
      @187onasimp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They just figured out how to "layer" sounds.... give them another 10 years and they'll figure out how to add "Pitch Bend". It's almost laughable the price tag of this Keyboard.

    • @jptaylor
      @jptaylor 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strange omission of no pitch and mod wheels, considering that a “synth” is now included in this board. And in this day and age, why such minuscule amount of sample RAM ? We’re still in megabytes ? Wow...

    • @synthartist69
      @synthartist69 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I think I see a pitch bend below the keybed, not sure... but strange place to put it for sure...

    • @jptaylor
      @jptaylor 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      synthartist69 nope - just checked Nord’s page on this ; no PB or Mod, not any synth control at all. It’s a “sample player”, meaning you have to import sample files after editing them. They should have just added a simple VA synth and a PB/Mod lever like in their other models. Deal breaker for me.

    Are these weighted keys? Or semi /half weighted ?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your interest! The Nord Electro line actually comes in three versions: a 61 and a 73-key version with semi-weighted, "waterfall" keys similar to a Hammond organ; and a 73-key "HP" version with fully hammer-weighted keys like a piano. The Electro 5D has also been discontinued and replaced with the 6D:

    Dem strings r like Nails on a Chalkboard...😬-Absolutely horrendous! Everything else sounds good tho. I.M.O - Nord has the worst strings but the best piano/“Hammond”organ..

    • @colbalt95
      @colbalt95 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Br. JD there is a velocity curve function that allows you to tweak them as well as a Decay knob and touch response button. They still don't sound as good as a as a Kronos but I prefer to use the pads

    • @BrJD-ii4iv
      @BrJD-ii4iv 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      colbalt95 - I agree! I mostly use Nord Pads and layer them to get a bigger pad sound to imitate an orchestra. I.M.O - Montage and Kronos have the best strings/Orchestral sounds; Nord has the best piano & “B3” sound, but the board that’s King is the Kronos. I actually have the Nord Stage 3 -88, Kronos 2-88 & Montage 6... I actually don’t have a favorite but if I’m going to a gig in which I need everything to be on point-I’m going with the Kronos! I use the Montage and Nord more for gigs and bring out the Kronos Beast in special situations.
