Thank you, Father McKenna, for explaining these very sobering considerations we must take into account. I pray your advice to remain cautious along with Bishop Sanborn's words of encouragement serve to open the door for Vigano to find his new place among the Faithful. The missing compunction is of concern. The running ahead and opening a seminary without first submitting to training from the bishops who stayed loyal to the Catholic Faith and have dedicated their lives to answering questions about how to provide the Sacraments and pastoring for souls without error and within the laws of Holy Mother Church is of concern. This is no longer the 80s where bishops had to go it alone because no one had figured anything out yet. After 60 years, the pre-VII Catholic Church is standing strong and thriving by the grace of God.
He was Ordained validily in the traditional Rite and is familiar with how to be a Bishop,even if he was N.O. +Sanborn was a seminary rector 1 yr after his Ordination. If he can do it,so can +Vigano.
Thank you Fr. for this interview. While we hope for the best possible outcome from this, we need also to be cautious.

That's what you get from sede priests
Some clarification on Vigano and his rise: 1) McCarrick had been credibly accused by James Grein and was in the news, which prompted Vigano to explain that McCarrick was sanctioned under Ratzinger, but Bergoglio have him free reign. It wasn't just a a spur of the moment thing.
2) Vigano went into hiding, not because he received credible threats, but because he knew the type of people in the Vatican and around Bergoglio. This is believable when you see that there have been very questionable things that happened in Argentina associated with Bergoglio.
3) He gave a video address to a few different conferences in 2020 and 2021, and because he had come out and publicly said Bergoglio is not the pope last year, Michael Matt disinvited him to his so-called Catholic Identity Conference.
4) At one point, Vigano explicitly called Vatican II a false council, akin to the Synod of Pistoia and the Robber Council. He went so far as to explain that, in his estimation, the Church must first declare that Vatican II is not an act of the Church's Magisterium, and second, She must condemn point by point the errors and vague phrases used in the documents...again similar to Pistoia. In fact, I credit "Vigano" for my journey to sedevacantism, because he pointed out Auctorem Fidei, which condemns the New "Mass" (although not explicitly).
I tend to agree with Kevin: i believe that he made several semi-trad contacts in the US, possibly even some on the Trump campaign, and they either influenced his writings or ghost wrote them. That would also explain his Twitter feed.

I am glad I listened to this grounded talk before going all starry eyed over Vigano. Now I see he has a lot of work to do to repair his past errors and set things right. But we must admit he has stepped into a role like that of St. Paul. It will be interesting to see what he does next after the scales fell from his eyes a bit.
As part of the diplomatic side of the Church, Vigano has a unique perspective.
Vigano first served in various diplomatic missions.
From 1989 - 1992 Vigano was permanent observer for the Holy See in Europe.
In 2009 Pope Benedict appointed Vigano to secretary general of Vatican City State & he served until 2011. Vigano followed the money & scandals & apparently started drawing heat from some in the Vatican. Concerned, in 2011 Benedict moved Vigano out to safer(?) pastures as nuncio to the U.S. In 2012 Vigano published his Vati-leaks documents citing Vatican Bank corruption & money scandals involving payouts for gay cover ups, etc. As U.S. nuncio Vigano started uncovering that several American prelates & priests were aware of McCarrick's like for young males & seminarians. Vigano tracked many events in the U.S. during this time. He uncovered more than McCarrick. He was nuncio from 2011 to 2016. He informed Bergogulio of what he knew about American prelates. Vigano
then retired in 2016.
In 2018 Vigano exposed McCarrick for who he was.
He also accused Bergogulio of covering up these scandals. Benedict had imposed private sanctions on McCarrick, but under Bergogulio, he lifted any sanctions & sent him to complete Vatican dealings with China.
All these years investigating causes & corruption shaped Vigano to examine Church structure & the Traditional Catholic movement. It has taken many years to see the outworkings of Vatican II. Most in the N.O. still want to hail it as a good Council. In retrospect it's taken time to see the fruits of this pastoral Council. The fruits are bad. Very bad. The whole "aggiornamentio" movement is destroying the Catholic Church. Vigano's speciality was not Church doctrine & Theology, but was diplomatic in nature.
Pray for Vigano. He has more to say & do. May he have Gods grace for it. 🙏

I have read the same on Vigano. He has done a lot to help the church. I want to know what these two guys have done.
I think this was overall a great conversation but find it to be a low blow to call Fr. Chazal a charlatan. Let us remember that during the great western schism there were declared saints on all sides. Fr. Chazal is clearly a holy man-are most of the priests at SGG, in the CMRI, and the Sanborn group. Prayers for perseverance for all, friends.

The difference is the Vatican 2 Church isn't the Catholic Church whereas the western schism was just a bunch of Catholics confused about who the Pope is. We dot pray for their perseverance if they're in communion with the Novus Ordo Church because we pray for them to leave it and become fully Catholic.

EXCELLENT interview with Fr. McKenna. I have always suspected Vigano of duplicity, but Fr. McKenna gives specific points as to why sedes need to be wary of this man. Why Bp. Sanborn is saying Vigano needs support is surprising - all these years he’s been able to smell a rat from 40 paces. DEFINITELY FF TO 39:00 to hear Fr. Desposito’s response to the ‘Bishop in the woods’ theory. Thank you Father and Kevin! (Yes, annoying static, but well worth looking past that).
Well said. You should keep in mind that Bishop Sanborn does not defend the interest of our Lord Jesus Christ. He even called Vigano St. Athanasius of our time.

Great to hear Father McKenna's perspective. Too many things about this situation seem less than sincere, and as Father said, even if he does come out and speak the truth (he hasn't done so yet), he should be commended, but not annointed.

If +Vigano is sincere,he could be a threat to traditional apostolates. What if,by chance,he received valid conditional Episcopal Consecration?He could,possibly,reach out for trad unity,and call an imperfect council.

The statement on Trump “….do any good or help anyone whatsoever…” seems uncharitable. Is not the Catholic teaching that voting for the lesser of two evils is allowed knowing that you may not have the perfect. I would say that there are many people that were positively affected by Trump. Besides how many Presidents had Ave Maria sung in the Whitehouse?😊

3 Hail Mary's for +Vigano. He was traditionally Ordained March 1968,the New Rite started Aug 16 1968. Cautious yet optimistic,expect the worst,pray for the best. USA is the most powerful Country on Earth. +Vigano was a diplomat here,it makes sense why he was involved in our election.

My kids are half indigenous. I often see others mistake their cultural dances for shamanic rituals. Ridiculous. Most Indigenous are Christian. Most are Catholics and Methodist and many keep their cultural dances alive.
I was shocked to hear Bp. Sanborn calling him “Archbishop” Vigano and other titles, but he was “consecrated” by John Paul which was invalid. I believe that Bp. Sanborn is wrong about Vigano. Thank you, Fr. Mckenna and CFP for this interview.

The most important thing we can do is not talk, but PRAY for Vigano. I wish to re-iterate here something another poster said below, because I think this gets to the heart of what I feel Vigano should do. "He should be talking to sede Clergy, in order to save his soul...He should submit to a Catholic/sede Bishop and silence himself." Let's hope and pray for this.

While listening to this subject by Bp Sanborn he explicitly stated vigano hasn't had any contact with him. Has Vigano contacted anyone that actually believes what he now says he believes? From his letter, which says many good things, it seems he is trying to lead a cause he just joined and apparently without much discussion.
Until you have the facts on Vigano, try to not judge. I’m not hearing these guys do anything t to eat anyone out.
The only way this will change is Catholics not throwing money in the pot. Zero tolerance.
He isn't a 1958 sede. He should be talking to sede Clergy, in order to save his soul. If I was dying I would not accept Last Rites from him. He should submit to a Catholic/sede Bishop and silence himself.

I found this broadcast to be extremely disappointing. Both parties make many inaccurate statements based on partial knowledge combined with a lack of charity and humility, all of which contribute to comprehension of other people's motives. Father McKenna also engaged in a great deal of word salad that he accused others of using. I think this kind of derogatorily speculative talk is very damaging to the traditional church and is responsible for a great deal of splintering. It seems to me more important to focus on facts that we know rather than speculations and judgments about things we don't.

#1 Calling Fr Chazal a charlatan was an unnecessary passive aggressive low blow. #2 Is it possible +Vigano had a spiritual awakening late in life? This Priest sounds threatened by +Vigano.
The problem with the volume and static is providential.
This priest says some good things. I agree, Vigano needs to prove himself.
But this priest makes snide remarks about others without offering any proof of validity. For example: Accusing Bishop Kelly of secretly being ordained a bishop.
Why would this priest think that we should just take his word for it. (Without offering proof, He just committed a sin by saying that. And worse yet on TH-cam.)
